Hard Racing Ohlins Fork Springs Install for Honda Grom SF

- Today we are installing the fork springs kit from Hard Racing. This is NOT the full kit with all the valving, this is only the springs and the spacers provided. I find that the full Ohlins Kit with valving was a bit too stiff for my liking so I chose this instead. Please dont get mad at these immature jokes, thanks :)

Sweet, nice vid guys. I’ve been thinking about upgrading my forks. Im actually going to do something different. I can’t wait to upload the vid soon.
Great video. For all the DIY'ers out there, be sure to observe torque spec's for the lower fork clamp on the triple tree. If it is too tight it will bind the fork and add excessive wear. Also, I like to put one fork on and get it lined up at the top, then put the other on on just snug. Then put the axle through it to make sure the axle holes line up. If it's off, the forks will bind and ass excessive wear and may even get stuck (I have seen that before). Once lined up, finish torquing the bolts to spec and then add the front wheel, breaks, fork guards, etc.
Hey, great info! Where did you find fork clamp specs?
Cheers

Funny video as always lol
Kitaco sell a spring set to for those on a budget great video lots of handy info thanks guys
Why didnt you show the rubber "O" ring that goes back on top of the bottom fork cap before you put the loctite & fork bottom back on?
Great video thank you
Def gonna need those when you’re hitting ditches going 20+ off-roading
Just gotta send it lol
I just hit a big ass pothole here in Gary Indiana and My shit bottomed out. The Screws to my T Rex Engine Cage gouged into the front fender AND the Decals I just added that were a whole skin on my bike. Definitely need this done.
DO YOU GUYS KNOW OR HAVE A LINK AS TO WHERE SOMEONE CAN PURCHASE THE CLAMP FOR THE FORK THAT YOU HAD TO BORROW??
Is that the Pitbull hybrid head stand? Which pin are you using?
What other special tools besides the fork clamp?
You didnt put the fork bottom back in the vise and tighten the torque value down to 70Nm/51.5ft lbs.. you cant use a 14m hex socket because it is too short. So im assuming you skip that part. Seems dangerous not to tighten the fork bottom to the fork tube. You just but blue Loctite and hand tighten it.
its so hard to tighten this back up
Why you over tighten the bottom cap? isnt the torque value on the bottom fork cap 40Nm/29.5ft lbs..
i didnt see you guys use a torque wrech..
😭😭😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What are the spacers for? Do they preload the spring for a little bit of lift?
I believe both
Are you still happy with this setup?...would you go a different route if you were to do it again
Thx in advance!
Definitely would recommend this setup. It’s the best setup I have found that isn’t too stiff like the full ohlins kit. And if my exact setup is a little soft then just put thicker oil.
What spring rate did you get for your weight?
The springs are just the ohlins springs from hard racing, so whatever that is.. fluid is 10 weight fork oil
Why did you used blue Loctite ?? Ohlins instrustion says to use 271 Red Loctite on that fork bottom and to put a thin ring around the threads...
Not blue loctite and put a thin line straight down.
M1sta KR4ZY blue loctite is easier to come off with hand tools. Red can only come out with heat or extremely strong force. I’m pretty sure they want to be able to take it off in the future when they upgrade or replace something. I use blue on things I plan to take off again.
Check my channel out if you like Grom content🙌🏽
Stewart from letterkenny?
Did you run stock axle bolt/hardware for the front pegs?
Yeah, stock axle
@@GromGarage Awesome! Thanks for reply, after seeing how easy it was for you to remove the front axle, Now I gotta get my gold pegs on
What gearing do you prefer?
Grom life is the best life guys🤙
AeroR on a stock grom just dropping down a tooth on the front works perfect. Once I finish modding my grom I might just stay with the stock gearing.
Did you just replace the springs, or did you purchase their $200+ kit ?
I did not buy the whole kit. Just the spring upgrade with the spacers included. I also changed the oil for some thicker oil. I am super happy with the setup because I personally think the full kit is too still for me
perfect! The full kit is more than I wanted to spend. Big fan of the channel and all your instal videos 🤘🏻
I need to do that Badly!!!! Stock Grom Forks SUCK!! Thanks for the video
Yea man, one of the best mods I’ve done so far
ichibangrom i do too! If you like grom content check my channel out some time 🤙🏽
If guys want to install your fork internal spring or valves correctly i recommend watching this video by hard racing ua-cam.com/video/0wYHkg9f9cg/v-deo.html
It is a little different to the SF models but the only difference is the washer on the damping rod. It would be a nut instead. but ohlin replaces all that when you order the ohlin springs for the SF. store.hardracing.com/cart.php?target=product&product_id=29925
Dude, chill out... it works fine and I haven’t had a single problem. Dude, you need to relax.
@@GromGarage glade to hear it holding up... hopefully nothing fails after riding and stunting.. liked the vid tho... i laughed thru the whole thing..

Glad to hear it man, at the end of the video I recommend watching hard racing’s video as you said, for me I just wanted to have some fun and show the process. Thanks for watching
Was this a good 300€ investment?
