- Whether you're upgrading the fork internals to Racing Bros or Ohlins, or just keeping it stock, swapping to a heavier weight fork oil will give your front suspension more control and less of a "pogo" effect.
This quick video shows step-by-step how to remove the fork leg, drain, fill and reinstall the forks on all generations of the Honda Grom and Honda Monkey.

Thank you! i searched the whole internet to know what the stock grom fork oil was
Thank you! Was nice to see someone run through it before attempting it myself.
It was also nice to see somebody that knows to pull a crescent wrench handle in the direction of the movable jaw.
When you see the steady logo you know its quality info.
2:04 yikes... I don't want to be that guy, but never use adjustable wrenches. Love your vids
Cool informational video, now i plan on changing my fork oil out too. I like your torque wrench👍🏼
Thanks
No special tools except for a $200+ torque wrench, lol. Thanks for the vid, doing this in the spring.
It goes on sale sometimes!
@@eastcoastish All good, I have 3 lol.
Excellent video
Great video, do you know if the stock suspension also needs 230 ml of oil?
Thanks for the video. Is 230mill also for stock suspension? Hai from the Netherlands.
On that top fork bolt...that you used the 36mm socket on, when you reinstall back on the bike...you used an adjustable wrench just to tighten it down? What is the torque specs on that bolt?
It's aluminum with a rubber o-ring. I don't know the torque spec, but I just tighten until it seats.
You don't put a certain amount of oil but a certain level of oil. The level is 70-85 mm. You need this oil level tool with a syringe to suck out excess oil. The stock level is about 75 mm. The oil amount is around 215 ml but the level is more important. It's important to have the same level on both forks. If I remember correctly, you measure the level when pumped the strut all the way down, covering the shiny "piston" part.
If the forks are completely empty you can measure by amount.
would this affect winter riding?
Was wondering what weight oil you recommend for a guy about 200lbs and also is it necessary to get a lowering kit for the front or can you just lower the factory forks by letting them slide up more towards the tanks by unloosening the 3 bolts on each of the forks ?
I'd still go with the 20 weight to slow down the rebound and compression. You can only move the forks up through the triple tree a couple of MM because after that the stock fork legs taper.
Thank you!
Is 230ml how much fluid should go in stock front forks also ?
What torque wrench 🔧 is that?
7:31 nice watch buddy
Great video! What year is your bike? Curious to see if it's similar to 2023. Thanks!
2022, same as 2023.
@@eastcoastishhow do you know how far to put the shock back up in when putting them back on? Trying to psych myself out to do it. Lol
@@toddboden972 you mean how far to put them in the triple tree? It’s pretty much flush with the top but take a pic before you take it apart 😉
Ok great idea. Thanks again!
where did you get that dubble exhoust ???
Yoshimura, they did a 100 unit production run. Email them though, they said they’d do another run if they got enough interest.
💡This one really improves handling, went bellray 30wt and it's firm does drop off after a few months, 230mill is just right, 235 pushed the forks seals a bit to much
Buddy needs to learn how to use a torque wrench
10:02 you put front axel in wrong way
Does axle bolt direction matter?
Woop!
Stock is not 5W oil
What is it then?
Alright then, keep your secrets.
