QUESTION: What is Print On Demand?
ANSWER: It is kind of a form of dropshipping. Print On Demand is when you take a piece of artwork, and you use an app like Printful (which works with a Shopify store) to place that artwork on items that customers purchase (t-shirts, hoodies, mugs etc) and to print them. Printful will then ship these items out directly to the customer.
QUESTION: What sorts of artwork and designs work best for Print On Demand?
ANSWER: The best designs are those that target a very passionate niche. Michael Shih from Print Profits targeted the gothic fashion niche. Using the Facebook insight tool he was about to see that over 2 million users were interested in it. It also helps if you can move into a secondary niche: in this case, the sugar skull niche was related and customers passionate about one niche tended to be passionate about that niche too.
QUESTION: How can you scale Facebook ads to huge profits with Print On Demand?
ANSWER: When scaling Facebook ads, you can scale horizontally (split testing different ads, using different creatives like images) or you can scale vertically (increasing the budget). Michael Shih from Print Profits made over a million dollars in a year from his Print On Demand store by doing both. He was able to massively increase the amount of money per order by adding in a product upsell funnel. He took the money he made, and invested it into his Facebook ad scaling spend.
QUESTION: Where can you find artwork to use for Print On Demand products?
ANSWER: You can use image sites like Shutterstock and iStockPhotos. You can also hire an artist to make an original design for you. Make sure that you have the rights to resell and to use it for commercial products. An artist will usually charge you more if you plan to use their artwork like that. If you don’t do this, your Print On Demand store could be sued for copyright infringement.
QUESTION: What are some unique items you can print onto that convert well?
ANSWER: Most people think to sell t-shirts, hoodies and mugs. But did you know that you can print onto shot glasses, wine glasses and jewelry? Michael Shih from Print Profits has found that these convert very well.
QUESTION: What are some unique ways to run tests to find winning products?
ANSWER: Michael has some interesting strategies that he uses:
He creates Facebook ads targeting engagement. He then adds images of 4 products and asks the viewer “which do you like the most?”
Once he’s built up a customer email base, he will email them and do a poll on what types of items they would like.
He runs an ad that is promoting a giveaway, but instead of sending them directly to the product page for the free-just-pay-shipping offer, he sends them to a Shopify collection page. He then see’s which products people add in addition to their cart the most, and runs ad campaigns for those products.
QUESTION: What mistakes do new dropshippers make with their Print On Demand Stores?
ANSWER: Here were some of the biggest mistakes newbies make that Michael identified:
1) They find a winning product and they stop testing new products. They find a winning t-shirt design but they don’t test the design onto different types of products, like leggings, and lose a lot of money they could be making.
2) They try and scale their Facebook ads too quickly. If you try and scale your ads too fast, Facebook does not collect enough data during the learning phase and the ad “dies off.”
3) Not having a funnel in-place. Michael Shih from Print Profits was able to make over a million dollars in a year because he has a funnel which upsells customers to more items. Once you find a winning item, put in an upsell funnel ASAP.
What was your favourite takeaway from this interview? Mine was the idea of using an engagement Facebook ad with 4 pictures of different products, asking people which one they liked the most to help streamline product testing!
sarah please leave to me a contact of u (personal ) just want to talk about some business stuff
Wholesale Ted i have a print on demand shirt using Printful and I am struggling with fb ads... how can we reach him to gain aome guidance on scaling
Is there a recommended amount of designs to launch a store? How do you test with the audience if there's basically no audience when you start? What would be the disirable amount of audience to start testing designs (let's say that A B C D model) and how would you build it quickly? I assume it didn't take him years and seems like he wasn't passionate about the skulls himself, but just found the right niche.
Is there a way to combine Printful and AliExpress products in a Woocommerce store?
The interview information was fire! My favorite takeaway though was you, Sarah. When you are doing your vids and you are the one speaking, you are so confident & composed. But when you are just listening and the camera is on you You're like a deer in headlights! Every time the camera cut to you-you looked like you were thinking, "Get that damn camera off me!" I love your vids and have been a subscriber for a couple years now but this just became my favorite.
It ALL comes together, keep hustling. And Researching, i failed a lot in the past, but refused to give up. NOW ive found my own BluePrint, after researching and taking a TON of notes. 6 Figure Mark im COMING BABYYYYY!
hey leon!! did you reach 6 figures yet?
Did you get to your 6 figure mark yet? Seeing as you commented 2 years ago, please share some of the tips you have?
@@natashahamunene2052 hahahahha exactly! he must be too successful to view our comments i suppose :(
@@shivangbhardwaj3165 Fingers crossed he'll respond sooner rather than later.
Any videos explaining the “funnel” he’s talking about? And how long the “learning phase” on Facebook adds is?
Yeah… what on earth is a funnel?
Any design that we buy should have commercial license for us to use it, some places to visit can be shutterstock or istock.
If you were to hire your own designer, you communicate that with your designer as well, they are either creating designs from scratch or have commercial license to use it.
Your videos and content are absolutely amazing and we cant THANK YOU enough for all of it. Truly amazing.
I’m glad you guys let us know that POD is not just T-shirt’s and hats. It’s a bunch of different products you can make.
Yep! So many different types of items and opportunities that most people don't think about.
I am in the process of launching my first store. Skulls are the focus and his product makes me feel more confident. Love this channel. Thank you!
Sarah I think you are a great great person . Take no notice of all the trolls on these comments ! All are just jealous of successful people , lazy and just want to do nothing about their own situation. If you want something in life you gotta work for it . I and many others absolutely love your videos , you are truly a great inspiration to us all .
Not a fan of typical sales commercial webinars for education costing upwards of a few bills or one large. But I do like the info you generally have. Sarah, you are great to watch. A good mix of insightfulness and comedy in your videos.
We've signed up for Sarah's course and it's a good course. Anyone thinking about doing POD should look at her course.
I’m so glad I clicked on this video, thank you so much you’re so helpful and honest ❤️😊
Hi Sarah, do you have a video on funneling? Thanks so much for all you do 👏👏👏
If I could make 3500$ a month....it would be beyond my wildest dreams.
Careful, everybody says this to get reassurance prior to purchasing a course etc.. .the gurus will tell you that it is possible if you follow the system and put in the action, which is true but what they don't tell you is that it takes LOTS of time and effort.. and 10's if not 100's of times of failing. These gurus rely on people like you to help fatten their wallets AND get 1 million revenue click funnel plaques.
Vim Vitae AMEN
Mine too
It's definitely possible on Amazon - I just hit 18k in 6 months you can checkout my latest report video on it where I show you seller central business reports :) It's not easy but worth it!
$7500 a day printing requires employees
The hardest part to believe for all these successful guys is they have stores that make a million a year but then need to sell courses on how they did it. Really?
Sounds like it's the selling the courses that makes the million a year
It is called multiple streams of income..you make money in a niche, sell you knowledge with books and trainings, it is very smart!
yea I understand the concept of multiple streams of income, just weird how you would teach potential competitors who if successful will have potential to impact your original base income stream. Also why not just create another successful store vs training? I'll tell you why, because its BS. People with the formula for making millions of $ don't normally share it and if they do and charge you for it thats their formula
Because you'll make more money in sold courses than you'll lose in competition, easily. Even if you teach everything you know, 90% who buy it are too lazy to implement and follow it all, and the remaining 10% are unlikely to be in your niche anyway.
They all suck they all are liars but that’s business
It's called knowing "the market" this is a market of the world that any 'proffessional' know to garder income from all the available sources that fit their skill and expertise. Making and charging courses also establishes credability. Etc. Rappers aren't only in the studio making music. They do anything from paid to show up at parties, paid to wear clothes and use products, etc. Nobody can get sustainably rich from one income source. You need to have MSI (Multiple source of income)
to those saying these types of videos are crap . . .
they give out free content (e.g video tutorials on youtube) to get more people interested in their more profitable products like the courses.
that ain't scam. here's the logic: people have a better tendency to buy from you if you are kind enough to share something useful for FREE.
yes, it doesn't work for 100% of the audience. but hey, a great chunk of that see it otherwise.
welcome to *_MARKETING_* ! ! !
Hi Sarah, great video as normal. Lots of useful info. Can you do a video discussing and showing us the different types of sales funnels and how they are used?
Wow. AMAZING interview - again, bringing in massive value for us - Thank you ♥️
I found the store! Now I'm going try to try to study the store and learn something from it. we have a very different niche. and it's amazing how their store has very exact niche.
Ive watched a lot of videos like this on youtube, but i must say i am extremly impressed with your attention to detail, clarity of explination and structure and order of importance. You ask the right questions and take the time to clarify the answers. Keep it up please. Thanks
I think you should do a video on what is scaling, funnels, analytics, because everyone doesn’t automatically know. Like a breakdown of behind the scenes.
Ha. Sarah, your facial expressions are worth the video alone. The info is golden as usual.
Very generous of Michael to share that information. Thanks. Great video
I love the FB engagement ad to test products. I also like the collection page idea. Using Shineon is intriguing and I plan to check that out. Thanks!!!
I like the he open up that it for Gothic people it show the power of audience. This make me want to buy his course now.
I never get enough of your videos
About the facebook's learning phase. How can we determine that? How long does it take for facebook to optimize very well?
Enjoyed this video. I was so grateful to see this content with your email newsletters. These videos are really helping me.
Such valuable information. Great interview. Thanks Sara and Michael.
This interview was so brilliant! Everything I needed to hear. Research is huge to measure engagement. Facebook ad testing with different pictures is also money. Thanks so much.
I bought the Ecomm program last sundry, and now i hope i will flow and build a successful business in 1 year... Because i have to give my self a time... And be patient.
The begging is always difficult even if we follow exactly... I stared with phone just for fun... And to break the fear loool... I hope i succeed. Im waiting for hangout with sara because i still have questions 😅
This was great but I wish they would have explained the funnel idea more. What steps do I need to take and what should I avoid to ensure I have solid funnel in place with my FB ads?
As always I'm so grateful for the time and efforts put into helping me.....so many thank yous. I'm hoping you could help me understand what funnels are, and how to use them?
Good question: funnel is a term used to describe the different stops along the sales process. So the funnel might start at the product page - that is step 1. Step 2 is when they checkout, you might have an upsell pop up - that is step 2, and so on. Each step along the sales process is a step in the "funnel." Your funnel might also continue even after the purchase: for example, you might send them to a thank-you page once they've completed their sale with a discount coupon to encourage them to buy again - this would be another step along the sales funnel/process :)
Can I see your store? I would like to see how you built it. Thanks!
Great questions, I didn't understand the funnel thing.
Thanks Sarah!
Thank you Sarah and Michael!!!
What I would like to know is
1. What was the COG including shipping?
2. What was the CAC?
3. What was the price including shipping for the customer?
Thank you this was very helpful
WOW! This was packed with great ideas & advice. Thanks!
Thank you, always great content :)
How do I know when the initial learning stage is over?
Excellent insight ! Is it possible to get links to the print on demand companies that were mentioned in the video ? Thanks !
Hi Sara, thanks for the video :)
Look on ebay and amazon, t shirts sell for $10 - $15 free shipping. You can't compete
well you can if you find your USP, means the reason people want to buy from you and not others.
I sell tank tops for $17.95 on Amazon. Plus shipping.
thank you
heather. i had no idea print on demand existed. I think its brilliant.
Question!! Is that how much sold? Or is that profit?
Great video....lots of useful information....will you be doing the webinar on any other dates?
Unfortunately not at this time. But this has been so popular that I'll see what we can do in the future.
Good idea.
love you sarah!! i really apreciate and respect what you present ro us
This was a great interview!! I saved it to my favourites. So much amazing tips.
I haven't seen the video yet but you already have my like!

Another awesome video with amazing content for those willing to do the work and persist to achieve their goals. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
A podcast mentioned one of your videos where you describe creating the pug/coffee graphic using Facebook advertising to find two passionate audiences and combining them... I really want to watch THAT video but all I could find is this one, do you know which video I should watch? Thanks for your help!
It got falsely copyright striked 🙈😖
Thanks😍😍 it was really helpful
More awesome content.
Thanks Sarah.
👍🌹🌹🌹👍
What about people like me that is banned from running Facebook ads?? You make one little mistake and they ban you for life. And they don't even tell you what you did wrong. Where can we find people that will run Facebook ads for us???
So much useful video
If you are an artist where would the best place to go to have your designs available, or where would you search out these particular places?
I live in Arizona, unfortunately I have sales tax here. I'm bummed. I got all the way to finishing my store (With Sarah's book) I am now stumped. 😢😭
Great information! Thanks for sharing 👍😊
How fun to see an interview with Michael. I signed up for his newsletter a few months ago. :)
What is the best POD services in terms of quality and profit margins?
Hello I’m finishing up my Shopify store and would like to ask about Facebook advertising, instead of just having 1 photo of a product, can I make a showcase of my website as a video and have it posted ??
A video is a great idea. Instead of a showcase of your website, I would recommend you either order the product yourself and do a video showing it off or do a showcase of different photos.
Thank You so mcuh @wholesale Ted
2-Pac Questions Lol. I Love Your Accent :) I Lived In Adelaide Australia For 2 Years. I m From San Diego California. Great Video I Love Your Channel Im a Subscriber. Keep Up The Great Content You Are Awesome.
Thanks Lamar. I hope you enjoyed your time down-under!
Helpful sharing!
I get why videos like this are made, but let’s be honest here $1 Million per year from print on demand is totally unrealistic for the vast majority of people. I think seeing videos about realistic people making $15,000 to $30,000 would be much more useful.
Thank you for the great information. Do you realize someone is re-posting your videos?
Thank you Sarah for your work, I've been looking for additional suppliers))
How do you recommend a person who wants to do their own design/illustration to proceed to find the right thing to illustrate? No offense, I don't think I want to sell someone else' work instead of my own. And, can you only do Printful with Shopify? Would this still work with something like a Redbubble POD site? I only know of FineArtAmerica POD site that makes it so you can bring their shopping cart into your own site, but I'm not sure they do the collection page thing to bring people in.
Print on Demand is famous now, some suppliers are bringing in the equipment
Is there a POD site that you can link to shopify for glassware the same way you can other products? I could not make out the place he said he got his from.
Good interview.
Great Content! 😍😍
Can't wait for the WEBINAR!!!
Oh... I've already made my registration, were it will be broadcasted?? Any link? 🤔
Check out the confirmation email from GotoWebinar for instructions!
Hi Sarah. What exactly does he mean by having a funnel in place? Is that another word for app? Thanks for all you do for us!
could you share examples of funnel for POD? Does it mean just upsell an item?
lmfaooo his face when she said he was a ninja at making facebook ads 3:14
Do you need to add the weight of the items if you have free shipping enabled?
Can you (or Michael) explain what is the upsell funnel you mention twice?
Hey Sira i love this accint!
Hello Sarah! Thank you very much for all the information you give! I have a question! Do you talk about print on demand on the "Dropship Club"?
It would be awesome if you had affiliate links for all the websites mentioned!
Thanks you my madmazel you grace o.k .
Quick tip Sarah- I think it’s best when you just leave it on full screen when the other person is talking. You seem kind of uncomfortable and don’t know what to do with yourself when they speak for an extended period and there’s no point filming you when they speak anyway. Love the content regardless though!
Not Sarah, Serah!
Yeah she was making really funny faces lol
I noticed this too but found it really perfect. It makes her super related. Even the fact that she says sorry when she doesn't get the question right. I appreciate seeing how it isn't so smooth. Her youtube videos are so smooth!
I have found out from a reliable person that every time we leave a comment, this nice lady earns £1000 from youtube, so I think its about time she paid some of that to us! after all its Christmas soon and I have 4 kids a terrapin and a wife to keep. LOL
Love always
Hayden
Hi. Great Video! How did you work out that Skull Candy crosses over the Goth niche??
This is a content rich super highway! Scaling here I go!!! Thanks guru 😋
this video inspired me to take print on demand little more seriously. I already make $ from it but clearly not "hustling" enough. I know I can do so much more.
i'm wondering why shineon accepts only shopify stores?
Guys this was truly informative...
What is "unsell funnel"?
Apps like printful can also help to print on unique material like jewelry, glass etc ??
Hi Sara , thanks for the great video. You guys talk about funnel? Can you elaborate or make a video on that topic ?
When Michael says "funnel" he is talking up the upsells he gives his customers (1-2 per item) and the backend marketing (email follow ups and retargeting offers on Facebook) to turn customers into repeat buyers. The chances are higher that you can retain customers with POD than Aliexpress dropshipping since you are designing items that are perfect for your customer base, and aren't limited by what is being manufactured.
Can you send his website link?
Thanks a lot for adding the subtitles, I can share the video to my french friends not too good in english
Keep up the hard work my g 🚀
Thanks for informative videos.
Can you make a video about Shopify lite?
Shopify lite is for retailers on other sites that want to accept payments and manage them via Shopify. You don't actually get an online store with a Shopify lite subscription.
What service did the he recommend for Glassware Pod?
Thanks Sarah for the videos. They are truly amazing! I have a question about this interview though? What is an upsell 'funnel'? I am aware of the many apps available on Shopify to Upsell and Cross-Sell, but the 'funnel' terms throws me off. I hear it quite often as a very important part of setting a successful business, but never really knew what it is exactly!
Editor of founder 🙃
Hey, Sarah, I have a question and I'm not sure where to put it or what the best way to reach you is, but.....
Suppose one is building a dropshipping store with Shopify, and they've decided to go the niche route, but that niche is reasonably narrow, and pretty much all products being placed in the store (somewhere around 50, at the moment) relate to the niche topic (such as a particular hobby, animal or topic). In that way it's quite cohesive, but the issue is becoming that it's very hard to apply unique, conversion boosting, descriptions to each of the products, especially when many of those products are in a similar product category.
How would you go about solving the problem of creating unique descriptions in this case?
