Great video. I was searching for rs 3 pro time-lapse. wanted to know how the gimbal performs for time lapses and came across your video. there are very few videos of gimbals and time lapses. enjoyed the last clip. thnx.
@@RalphMayhewPhotography the gimble give command and camera take pictures. Because i got problems when sync the camera with the gimble. Maybe i wil check again.
The 2 xtra seconds add tip cinched me subscribing.Just got the Ronin RS2 and looking forward to what's possible. Great video and I will watch more.Cheers.
Final video had a lot of bumps and shake, was it windy or did some of your shots skipped an interval as depending on your settings 15/17 is actually 16/17 (it's a weird kink, but 15s is actually shooting for 16s- try it, also 30s is 32s ) so 1 second might not be enough for it to save a file, move and shoot next one. I was watching this as I'm awaiting delivery of rs3 mini and will try timelapsing on it too
That time lapse at the end was an absolute stunner mate. Wow. Great tutorial on this gimbal, looks like a beast! Great stuff Ralph! Hope you are well, take care!
Thanks heaps mate. I wish I’d have made it a bit longer in the end. It’s a great gimbal. I’m a bit sick actually. Got the flu but it’ll pass. Thanks mate. I hope you’re well too.
@@RalphMayhewPhotography that sucks, feel better soon mate. We've not had any cold or flu outbreaks here because of all the mask requirements, but now that those have been dropped, I imagine the flu will make a comeback here...which is exactly I still wear my mask out in public. But get some rest and feel better soon!
Yep I think that is our and soon to be everyone’s issue. Because we’ve been so germ free for so long and now our defences (both immune and hygiene) are down everyone is sick! Thanks mate. Will rest up.
Since making this video have they upgraded the amount of time that you can run a Time-lapse? Three hours seems rather short to me. When I do my nighttime time lapses it’s usually from sundown to sun up. I just let it run overnight.
Hey, love the video. I’m working on trying to do a Timelapse with the RS3 pro and noticed that the photo counter seems to lag a lot. Do you have this problem? i’m using a a7riii with bluetooth
@@RalphMayhewPhotography i’m seeing it on the rs3 pro screen and it’s only counting by intervals of 12 and the counter is way off for me. maybe it’s the lag time my sony a7riii is taking to “process images”?
@@RalphMayhewPhotography when i use program mode on the sony i don’t have the issue but it still counts in intervals of 12. might be cause the a7riii is an older camera and has the old menu system ?
Hey man, congrats for the great video. I was looking this info for my RS3 Mini + Canon R5 and found your video. It really helped and I will give it a try this week. I have one question: you mentioned some sort of problem with the USB c cable and I am not sure what it is and what was your solution. Thanks a lot and just subscribed to your channel 😊
Thanks dude. Sorry for my delay I had to go back and watch the video. The usb-c needs to be firmly and fully plugged into both gimbal and camera. It goes into the top slot of the gimbal and I loop it under the lens so it’s not under pressure from being over stretched.
Awesome video, exactly what I needed. Just got the RSC2 and I’m pretty keen to go down to beach in the pitch black and try a Astro Motion Timelapse. Thanks for pointing out I can attach it to my tripod I was just gonna shove the gimbal into the sand which isn’t a good idea 😅🤣 It’d be interesting to see if they could add some kind of software to turn it into a full on star tracker
That’s great to hear mate. If they teamed up with a company such as Move Shoot Move it’s star tracking results could be revolutionary. Not sure the market is out there though 🤷🏼♂️
Interesting. I’ve not used the Zeapon slider but if it’s weight bearing limit could handle the load then I’m sure you could get it to work and the results would be insane.
I set the shutter speed to 20 seconds per picture and my cam takes another to 10 to 15 seconds to save the picture to the memory card (Processing time) what settings do I use in this case ?
That is a beast of a gimbal, pretty cool. I do enjoy a small basic gimbal for my DJI osmo action. this tech gets people watching you when your filming out in public.
Handshake: Ralph, an excellent video that was a great-looking time lapse. Enjoy that Astro stuff. So looking into Squarespace to set up a website, used your website to get there, will you get credit for this? CAVU! Fly Fun, Fly Safe, Just Fly, and take those Creative Shots!
Thanks heaps mate. Squarespace is excellent. The only photography website I’ve had and I love it. Hmm no idea. I might ask them if we can arrange something. Thanks heaps Bob 👍
will try that today :D :D what i do is zoom in and focus on one star, then zoom back out and do the shots- maybe it will pick it up when im zoomed in and try to track it with its tracker :D
did everything in the video, even had the cable connected. looked like it was taking pictures but went to look at them afterwards in the camera and it showed nothing.. anyone have any input?
@@RalphMayhewPhotography so it was actually from my lens being on af instead of mf. That fixed that issue. But I think I may need an upgrade for a camera to be able to do those type of photos in Orlando. Light pollution is just to strong for this camera
@@bdoggfpv That'll do it. How frustrating for you. You still should be able to do it with an M50, although it's not ideal. I'd encourage another go, before buying a new camera.
@@RalphMayhewPhotography having the iso set to 3200 may be to much. I tried lowering it and that helped some but still nothing close to what you posted. And the aperture was set to 3.5 not sure I can set it any wider

Great video. So to do this, I still need to use my cameras interval feature (or use an external intervelometer), right?
👍
The timelapse itself is beautiful. Why are there a few places with a noticeable jump? Were pictures removed in those places?
I’m not sure tbh. I think it was because I was shooting on sand - which is never a stabiliser of anything.
Hi bro. Are you connect the camera and gimble during take picture. Or you sync manually?
I programmed it all first and connected it all, planning for where the Milky Way would be and then let it do its thing.
@@RalphMayhewPhotography the gimble give command and camera take pictures. Because i got problems when sync the camera with the gimble. Maybe i wil check again.

also 180min is a silly limitation, as most astro Timelapse's will tell that they usually shoot for much longer than that

That's amazing coming from a gimbal.
However compared to a dedicated motion control system it's a bit inconsistent and jittery.
