I do not own this song, nor the image. I am fully complacent with any requests made by C418 to remove this video, and I do not condone the download of this video, which UA-cam has prohibited.

I love how the half-tempo reprise of Sweden at 8:06 is the most talked about part of this song. Goes to show how such a minor change to a song can completely change its feeling.
yo
@@darkmewtwovoid haha hi
I think there's more to it, because if you play it on 1.75 speed it's the same tempo as Sweden. It feels very different from Sweden. It's about the change in pitch, the repeating synth, and the context of the situation.
That definitely isn’t Sweden. Sounds more like Concrete Halls.
I think dry hands reverberating at 4:36 is really ominous
I think this music represents the moment Steve starts to wonder "Where is everybody? I've found the mineshafts, but where could they be..."

They were killed. Steve was a miner like the zombies when they were human. They wore uniforms I guess, which is why they look you.

It sounds as though you've passed the limits of your reality, and it starts to glitch out and distort itself.
This is my favorite piece of music in the Minecraft OST. It's able to capture just how empty and alone the world feels, especially the End. It's just you, alone in the void with the endermen. The piece begins with a familiar, although slightly distorted, piece of music, offering the player a sense of hope in the new dimension they discovered. A hope almost reflecting that of a lone survivor trying to find evidence of other life. Then at 1:13 the lighthearted and familiar piece stops, giving in to the stress created by the player and the endless expanse of the void. There's almost nothing for three minutes. Then the familiar music begins again. I like to think of the different leitmotifs playing throughout the piece as an announcement to the player that this is the End. There's no more. All of the player's past experiences, represented by the different familiar songs played throughout the piece, have led up to this moment. In addition to the slightly distorted music, there's a constant ringing of distorted noise in the background, constantly getting louder as the piece continues. The ringing continues until 9:30, where the player gives into the stress that they have been carrying exploring this dimension. There's no hope of other life existing. It all stops at 9:48. For the next couple of minutes, wind chimes and ominous background ringing begins to build again. At 11:40 sounds can be heard that seem as though they are being played backwards. Then a buzzing of some sort, being stopped once the first note of Minecraft plays. Each note of Minecraft is held out much longer than in the original song. Then another new ringing begins, this one quicker than the last. The last two minutes of the song seem to represent the players eventual spiral into insanity while exploring the End. Then all of the entire progression of the piece stops abruptly. Minecraft plays again, similarly to how it played in the beginning of the song, except this time it begins to skip, almost like how nightmares sometimes repeat themselves. The music is then stopped by what seems to be a person, and is quickly taken out of a cassette player, almost as if it were all a dream and the person may have been listening to the cassette while sleeping. This piece is a perfect representation of the End, which is not as evidently connected to real life as the Overworld (Earth) and the Nether (Hell). This piece helps to define the End as a dreamscape, one that is especially nightmarish.

Really nice analysis. That was ride!
To me, this music is a clue, that Endermans were the ancient builders(watch Game Theory). This music represents Endermans, that once were a player, just like us, but trapped in the end dimension. They ate chorus fruit. Evantually, they became Endermans. Their memories are unclear and distorted, just like this music

This music should be played when the apocalypse has ended and you walk around and take a look at the destruction
Exatcly.
+Peanut Butter Bob Arguably that _is_ Minecraft. Think about it: you're alone when you start, with nothing but the company of animals. No civilization aside from a few scattered villages. No remaining signs of technology or societal progress aside from some mineshafts. At night the world is overrun by zombies and skeletons. Creepers roam the land and exist solely to destroy other lifeforms.
It's pretty apocalyptic, and that's just the story-less survival mode.
And at the very end the hero is standing on a massive hill of debris, blocking out the sunset and a bunch of other charachters are standing behind him backing him up
+Simon Carlile And all while that's happening, tall, dark alien-like creatures that go by the name of "Endermen" are coming into the over world, trying to steal the things in this world that they don't have - lush green landscape, flowers, plenty of dirt and stone, lots of different lifeforms, and tons of land.

Welcome to the void.
the void outside the end is a creepy place man!
its creepy, but, yet, is actually peaceful... maybe you can even spot a star in the endless void of the End...
There was once a weird black triangle floating in the void. but no matter how far I went, it would move farther...
The void encompasses all.
It gets worser every day
" Its MY dance party. I get to put on whatever i want!"
Time to give everyone at the party an existential crisis
And when you recite poetry at school, recite The End Poem

The void terrifies me. No matter how far you go, how high you fly, or how far you fall, the void doesn't move a single pixel. It really goes on forever. The game grants mercy by killing you instantly after you fall beyond the point of no return.
I just realised that if there wasnt an instakill zone in the void you would fall until the game crashes....

The ending of this track fits surprisingly well with the beginning of Chirp
It was made on purpose:D
That’s almost eerie in a way, like the entire song almost sounds as if someone was about to die, they do end up dying, then go through a long journy to somewhere else, then dead silence and strange ambience followed by the beginning of chirp, a new beginning ina new life, here or somewhere else, its almost like the beginning of the song has that weird uneasy feeling like something isn’t right, before starting to sound more upbeat.

The music of the End literally being a more distorted version of the regular Overworld is actually what led me to believe that the End portal is actually a Time portal that sends you several years in the future where bedrock has finally been destroyed and End stone is the only thing that the earth is made out of and the Enderman use the void to travel through time into the past to collect obsidian and bedrock to help and try to rebuild the world, taking block by block they return to the end so that the Enderman can rebuild the world from nearly nothing.
This needs to be in story mode.

i legit froze on my chair!
Agree, It also reminded me of my old freebuild survival server back in Beta. Man times changed.
The End, a fitting title for sure. It's the final step, the overworld left behind with nothing but an empty space, the journey nearing its final moments, and the music almost having nothing else to offer. It's as if The End itself is completely void of everything, the complete opposite of everything else that had something. Everything comes to an end here, and there's no going back...
The End, in my opinion, is Mojang’s interpretation of where we temporarily go when we die. We relive our moments, and hear a faint distant melody that is nostalgic but not too clear. It’s a form of purgatory that tethers us in and out of consciousness. It’s the exchange of life and death, an equilibrium. We await our fate, and press on unknowing what will become of us. It goes to show that, in death, we can still be lost as we once were when we were alive.
So, the backrooms?
@@tejetski not everything is the back rooms, dammit!

Cool theory, and i have a different one.
Remember soul sand valleys? I think, when you kill any mob in overworld, it's soul rises ( white steam ), but then goes down to the Nether, and then few particles of soul sand adds in soul sand valleys. Every mob, which died in so many years formed the soul sand valleys in the Nether

Taking a motif that sounds like home, and then breaking it apart to the point where it can be recognized but it is now lost and can't find its footing anymore, just going in circles trying to somehow get back to where it was until it simply gives up. The part where Sweden joins along the bass melody is the most intense moment in the whole Minecraft OST. 1:14 - If this part of the song lined up with entering the End for the first time the player shock value would be amazing. Playing that bit at the loading screen then that void soundscape once the End world data loads and the game resumes rendering. It would give people a very good idea of the End.
8:06 gives me chills and i love it
This song makes me think of Limbo. A place where everything is distorted, time and space is warped. I feel like I'm waking up on a plane with no where to go, then falling through memories and experiences until I'm left in a void. ShadowHunter120 This actually makes me feel comfortable... and happy. I guess the way it sounds so deep and beautiful in a way comforts me more, and it also makes me think of the end of time and life and such, it makes me think about bigger things. It doesn't freak me out at all really. Hmm...
The point of the song is to install a false sense of comfort, to lull you into accepting the truth that many who enter the realm do not leave alive.

The End
the small shards of the memories that where built up from all these years are what really gives this track so much life

8:27 my favorite part. That pulsating synth and that melodic piano...and oh god don't get me started on that fucking awesome wind-like ambience. This track is perfect in so many ways.
Yeah. It's beautiful!
Vale Italy Oh ya!
Beautiful is almost an understatement.
Oh yes, you are right.
Ethan Villanueva Yeah!
forget the lore and creepiness... the mashup hurts, but like in a good way. makes me want to cry. it just sums up so much i cant describe
This music alone just gives such a deeper meaning to Minecraft than anyone would think. It’s as if the world is corrupted. Especially 8:06, my gosh. Speed it up to 2x speed and listen. You’ll hear the Sweden theme, but the pitch is lower. Also, at 12:12, you can hear a distorted Minecraft theme, one that can’t even be normal at 2x speed. When I hear this, I picture an astronaut in deep, deep space, possibly in a black hole, working against time to save humanity. This beautiful game is an experience. A never-ending experience.
yes except 8:06 works better for that 12:12 part thing
C418 is truly an artist. The static starts to sound like a scream at around 9:40, but there's not enough definition to tell one way or another. Terrifying.
"Steve held the final Eye of Ender in his hand. He hesitated. One last check in the chests. One last look up the entry shaft to see the last bit of sunlight fall below its zenith. Would he ever return? Would he find what he was looking for on the other side of the portal? Is he really all alone? He had built his entire life in this world. He went to hell and back and yet something pulled at him. Urging him to leave this world once more. Something telling him he wasn't alone and that he has a higher purpose that must be fulfilled.
He opened his hand to reveal the Eye of Ender and looked over to the portal. As he placed it, a blackness opened up. He stared deeply into it. He saw himself. He saw eyes. He saw life and death. "There's more than just me," he thought. He readied his sword and bow, and checked his armor and supplies once more. With the bravery of legends, he stepped into the abyss.
After a long battle with the dragon and an onslaught of angered Endermen, the final portal appeared. The egg of the great dragon was in Steve's hand. "THERE HAS TO BE MORE THAN ME!" he screamed. In that moment he realized that his world was a small part of a larger world. He wondered if that world was part of an even larger one. He wondered if they were infinite. He knew he wasn't alone and that he may never see the one that guided him, but he knew that they were there. Once again he stepped into an unknown darkness, but awoke in his bed."
*cut to the end credits with the conversation of the two beings*
Oh my lord, it’s been so long since I beat the dragon, I forgot that there were two beings talking, thanks for this
You should write books
Minecraft: THE ISLAND
Two beings?
Read this while listening to 8:06 you're welcome ;)
8:06 is such an awesome theme
This song is truly just an extension of the End Poem. It keeps repeating one message, a message about how it's time to stop running away from the real world to live in this dream. Stop trying to relive this dream over and over again, stop reloading the worlds, stop restarting the game. Stop. Go live your life. You are the player, the player has everything. live it. don't throw it away for a dream. Wake up.
LOVE that rendition of "Sweden" from 8:06-9:35.

This is the most depressing and most beautiful music I've ever heard in my life.
To be honest, I say it's my favorite song from the Official Minecraft OST. It gives off that soft tone of beauty, and has some clips where it sounds more beautiful like at 8:10, then it makes random noises, like a broken record. The last piece of this song is "Minecraft" on a broken record. BEAUTIFUL AND SAD.

I just now realized this track contains a medley of the overworld songs.
that's cool.
It really makes me lose faith in humanity in the fact that the soundtrack to this game is the most overlooked part nowadays.

As a wise man onces said:
We played, we tried
We laughed, we cried
We succeeded, we died
We respawned and thrived
From the zombies, to the endermen
From the skeletons, to the pigmen
From the spiders and creepers
And from those annoying griefers
From the biomes of jungles to sands
To the mushrooms and other obscure lands
From the snow and ice
To the swamps which never looked too nice
From moments with friends we’ll cherish
From a time we hoped Herobrine would perish
From the great animations
To the UA-cam sensations
Along with those musical incantations
I thank Mojang for creating my childhood
Much better than just ‘good’
I think I speak for everyone here
When I say this is not game of the year
It’s the game of the century
As it offered us with plenty
And these memories will never leave
Just like the thought of first playing as Steve
So I say close your eyes
And listen to the music with surprise
As your memories of Minecraft were once apart
But now can be fixed like a broken heart
In order to find your memories core
You must go back to the world of Minecraft once more
And defeat the Ender Dragon one last time
As the sweet sounds of your childhood begin to chime
One last thing, for me to say
Which would be, have a nice day
Also for you to never forget this game
Nor the journey that came
As a part of that journey was the end
Quite literally, not pretend
Just like this poem, which I hope you have all read
As I would love it if this poem and this game is remembered once I’m dead.

Imagine if the end was buggy af, on purpose. and imagine the terrain was flat, but there were way more pillars and they were all HUGE. sometimes there would be missing obsidian textures, flashes of the dragon like the elder guardian, sometimes you'd automatically go into the dragons perspective for a tiny amount of time, sometimes a falling object more powerful then an anvil would fall in a random spot near you, at times you'd be immediately looking straight up without control, as if you were teleported to be looking in a different direction, sometimes time would literally freeze or back up and your screen would turn black and white... what you could do is pretty much endless. you could make a void particle cloud common, and it would do strange things, etc etc. BUT, only if you had the music on, or something like that.
+Alweer “EenGameKanaaltje” Een They'd have to make it seem like the dragon wasnt a boss when you would go into its perspective. that and maybe it was cursed by the end, I dunno, y'all think of stuff
+Alweer “EenGameKanaaltje” Een how about.. the dragon created the end because the nether was invaded by the wither, and the overworld was invaded by players. also in 1.9 the end isn't just the island, it also includes the second dimension, the one with the chorus plants and stuff. so maybe the dragon created that dimension, but he also included another to guard the first one from invasion, like it was a decoy. the dragon himself stayed behind to make sure nobody that isn't allowed gets through.
That would be the best mod!
Old comment ik, but that sounds like an awesome idea?? That'd scare the shit out of me if it was my first time in the End and this track was playing. Undertale's and Doki Doki's intentional 'glitching' was spooky enough, imagine it in first-person Minecraft and with this track? That'd be so terrifyingly awesome. If I ever get into modmaking this'll be on my list.
Dude you should make a horror game
I have dreams with this music. I feel like I'm transported to a broken world. Abandoned. Lost. Dark. Empty. I fall through memories of the past and fears of the future, looking back as I watch the endless universe. I then am transported to a dream world. A world of my own to call home. My thoughts swirling around me. Walking around in my own creations. Wondrous. What is this? What do I think? How can this happen? Are you even real? Is this a dream? A nightmare? A vision? I'm faced with a question. What is the answer? How do I answer? Where do I go? How can I survive? Am I dead? Am I alive? Am I asleep? Or am I awake? I give an answer. Nothing. Black. Then I feel the congratulations of a thousand people. Cheering like I'm a war hero. A party on the streets of a city. Loud applause. I look around. Everyone is cheering. I approach a man. He says, "You have answered the question of life. You have done what so many others cannot. You defeated Death himself. Consider that." I smile as I fall asleep and my world passes away from me. Endless expanse. The universe laid before me. Thoughts fly out before me. Drifting into nothing.

Umm... Wow
and then someone says prohibited words in your christian minecraft server so you wake up and ban hammer some people.
this is the END of childhood my friend.
This is legitimately one of the most beautiful pieces of music out there, in my opinion
Wow, i came from everywhere at the end of the time.
This actually tells a story without a word
The End is only death, and the dragon only a physical manifestation of our fear of it. By killing it, we feel as if we've overcome the inevitable. But the truth is that, world to world, there is always another dragon. Death is inescapable. The End proves that to us.
I'm reading too far into this only because so many others are doing the same.
