  • Full walkthrough, dimensions and first thoughts about the Jambo Pits, Backyard model.
    This video gives a detailed tour of the pit, its features and specs, and my initial thoughts and impressions, as well as a test burn.
    This pit is amazing, highly efficient, and easy to control. You'll pay between $2500-$3500 USD on average, whether you buy new or used and depending on what add-ons you may want.
    ***Update/ Correction: The video states that the rest of the pit is 1/4" steel, when in fact it is 3/16" Steel. Sorry for the mix up. Im new to the UA-cam stuff and will change it in the video if I figure out an easy way to do that.

    I sure like those "Flush-fitting-Doors", such a clean-look.

    Great looking pit. I think you did well. Especially with how many Jambos are on the competition circuit. If anyone doubts this pit just go binge watch bbq pitmasters and you will see how many pitmasters use Jambos and win with them! Happy smoking!

    congrats....im looking at new smokers for my back yard. Looking at all the different options. The jambo backyard model although expensive....looks like a great set up. Especially with the set of 4 golf cart wheels to keep it mobile

      Honestly price wise they aren't too bad. They are in the middle of the pack on price for similar specs, but on the top of the pack for quality!

    Three things wrong with this rig ...
    1) Steel wheels
    2) No casters
    3) and Most important, it's not in my backyard!
    Very nice, very very nice rig!

      Absolutely! Most of my recipe videos going forward will include the pit, but I am planning to film another walk through after having used the pit for over a month (and using several times a week).

    What is the size of the throat and how high is the grate from the bottom of the cook chamber? Sorry if this has been asked before, just want to make sure I'm understanding everything. Thank you very much for the video!!

      From Amazon. You can just search "BBQ Probe Port".

      @@mdtrahan89 Ok, sorry it took me a bit. So the dimensions of the inter firebox and door are as follows:
      The opening to the chamber is 16" wide, by 13" tall.
      The inside of the fire chamber is 19 3/4" Deep, by 20" wide, and is 17" tall from grate to top, but there is also 4" of space under the grate (for ash).
      Hope this helps!

    • @lalunabbq

      New they are about $2800-3k without shipping, depending on any extras. I've seen them used as low as $2500, but they pretty much hold their value.

      Awesome pit but why not just have a slide style vent for the intake on the door? Strange design, but a killer pit anyway.

    Jambo is a jambo but its to old school, the features are out dated as hell, wish they can modernize it

    • @lalunabbq
      @lalunabbq  3 роки тому

      I'm not even sure what that means? You mean you want it to be a pellet smoker or something?
      Smoke and fire do and have worked the same way since cave man struck the first spark. I'm not sure how a perfectly designed work horse could be "updated".
      Sure there are a few things that aren't perfect, but old school is a good thing in BBQ.

      @@lalunabbq look at at moberg, it can be old school and not caveman style, look at the dampener who hell uses bolts to adjust, the smoke stack knob looks half a$$. I rather just crack the door open like on a moberg. I know jambo smokes great but this patio model doesn’t cut it for me. Iam glad you did this video and and it helped me bring my Pitt choices to moberg and Shirley fab reverse flow. Enjoy your Pitt

    • @lalunabbq
      @lalunabbq  3 роки тому

      @@dmdm9198 ok, I get what you're saying. Yeah, the lug nut on the damper is a bit "home made" and the intake as well. It hasn't been a problem for me on either count, but I certainly still envy some of the design features of pits like Moberg and Workhorse.
      I have debated just tightening the damper all the way and using the door, but as of now, the range i get works for my cooking style.
      I think the point with Jambo is that he and his small team of I think just two other guys just build them by hand, and want them to be simple, and feel like they were built by hand.
      There's times I wish I'd waited for a build on some different Pits, but then I cook on her, and can't think of any other pit I'd like to have.
      Ended up getting her used, and had bought it after having waited for several months on a custom build that got destroyed in shipping, so I was gonna basically take whatever high end pit between Jambo, Lang, workhorse or a few others that came up first, and the Jambo was the one!

      @@lalunabbq well it’s still a jambo and will hold value the way it is, ether way if I found a used one I would jump on it, again thanks for the video, the only person to do a true walk around, everybody else is afraid to do one.
