    looks really neat and you have alot of great ideas there some that i might put into action. Only thing i was thinking (even before i looked at your video) was that with the engel draw fridge maybe running the condensor and fan etc in the wing of the draws off to the side and make that a nice throughfare for air to pass through with a fan or the likes. Then behind the draw fridge you have more room for batt/chargers/inverters etc. I especially like how you made it the same height as the seats and have that bridge panel and the design of the hinged wings is very smart.

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  11 місяців тому

      Thanks for the comment. If you look into the details of the Engel, it has little triangle shaped ducts. These ducts have little fans at the back of the fridge and the Engel is capable of running fully enclosed and can still provide airflow to the rear of the unit.
      Admittedly, relocating the compressor under the wing would free up some space directly behind, but I found just enough space for electronics but it did end up quite tight.

    Looks great bud! I’m gonna have to up my game and land an LX570/200 myself now as I’m still a 100 series bloke. Lol…
    I still have my Rhino Rack feet and my Eezi-Awn K-9 bars just like you had man! I upped the game and got new channel molding for an LX from PartsOUQ, ha it was cheaper to get each from them than one from a local Lexus dealer. Now it all looks sweet and stock!

    Super clean setup - thanks for sharing this! Only thing to note (I think you mentioned this at the end) is the hinges getting in the way - not sure how better to do it though - maybe a stealth install of a piano wedge or something like that would help maximize space (and thin mat to cover on top)... Either way though - nice job!

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the comment. I try to avoid the piano hinges just cuz they look so cheap. The one advantage to the hinges that I have is that it pushes that front wood totally out of the way, where a piano hinge would still obstruct the opening a little bit.

    Nice job! Don't you have issues with overheating fridge due to the limited air flow in the back?

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  Рік тому +1

      Nope. The Engel drawer fridge has vents to move the air around the fridge. I also used the mesh grate immediately behind the fridge to provide more volume of air to circulate.

      I was thinking the same thing. Also eventually on warmer days that battery could become quite warm cos of the fridge. A small 12v extraction fan could help I think.

    Looks great! Only thing I’d suggest is adding magnets to accompany the felt strips in your battery access panel lid so it doesn’t pop out over bumps and potentially allow something conductive to fall in and short your electronics. You’ve inspired me to revisit my own project. What part of the country are you in? Are you an OverlandBound member?

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  2 роки тому

      Good tips and I'm glad you're revisiting yours.
      The door to the electronics is a tight fit. If I every see or hear it rattle at all, I'll consider your suggestion. Shorting the battery would be BAD.

    I think it looks great. I would like to test if that slide fridge would be good enough for me. I am usually out weeks at a time though. And I don't have a problem with my fridge being on a slide on top because I usually travel alone and sleep inside but might be nice if traveling with someone....then again sounds kind of stupid to redesign my whole system for the "just in case". Yeah the only thing I would do, I think I mentioned this before, is change the hinges to just a normal hinge for the little panels that open up in the back...facing the tailgate. That way you could easily slide things in there. Doesnt' that Battleborn or the Redarc or Bluetooth monitoring? .....oh..and what do you do for a water system?

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  2 роки тому +1

      The specific DCDC charger and battery don't have monitoring (I don't need an app for that!) Having that little voltmeter will help with that. The previous setup was so headache free I never needed it and I don't see what that will need to change.
      For water, I use a 7 gallon water jug (Shelf Reliance?). I need something a little smaller. We will play with that next.

      Nope, it's a tight fit and I'm not crazy about it. I'd be surprised if there is a no-sunroof 200 in the US. It's workable for now but I might try and get an aftermarket seat and solve the long-time problem that people have had of getting all the airbag lights off. We'll see!

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  Рік тому +1

      The fridge drawer was off the shelf, but the enclosure and drawer/platform system was custom. The Engel fridges are supposedly pretty efficient. Both before and after fridges were Engel, but the models were different. I didn’t measure power consumption or time to temperature. They were different sizes so it wouldn’t have been an apples to apples comparison anyway.

    any reason you chose the engel over a dometic drawer?

    • @thelandcruiserproject
      @thelandcruiserproject  2 роки тому

      Before we moved I had bought the Dometic CD-30 secondhand but never put it to use. I sold it so I wouldn't have to move it. I had the Engel MT-45 already and was very impressed with it over the previous ARB, so that factored in. I also bought this Engel drawer used and so, like most of my stuff, it's also the way it is because that's what was selling used at the timeframe I was looking. Engel was also showing that the drawer fridge might have had a slightly higher capacity than the CD-30 and that factored in as well. I can't remember if the CD-30 had an internal light but the Engel definitely does. One final thing about the Engel that I liked is that it has the fans and passages in the top corners to allow you to fully enclose it and make it flush mount. You can't do that as well with the Domestic CD-30. There ya go!

      @@thelandcruiserproject Cool, love how yours turned out. I have a 75 dometic I've been using in the 200 and it's awesome, but it's very large. You are in clear violation of the Land Cruiser code. Immediately turn in your Land Cruiser card for a fancy Lexus almost a Land Cruiser card. Bwahahaha Wow I told you not holding onto your original 200 series would haunt you. I’m a 08 first year of the 200 series owner and like you former 100 series owner (91) glad that went back to the 200 series nothing like a Tundra V8 engine and transmission. I think a video doing over all the Landy’s you owned and flipped is in order for your Newbie followers. Outstanding job on install.
