Dude... watch your own video... You are are a Jeep fan... I can smell the bias...lol I have owned one Jeep & five 4Runners, 3 generations V6's & V8"s & all Trim levels including a 2017 TRD Pro... 1.8 Million miles, & one with over 400k... NEVER once took any of them to the dealer for anything. Did my own maintenance which consisted of brake pads, light bulbs, wiper blades & fluid changes... My current rig a 2005 V8 Sport that I cant part with... In contrast, My brother is like you... A Tacoma, and 5 Jeep Rubicon's himself & probably 3 Grand Cherokee's for his wife... They are not even comparable to my 4Runners... All their jeeps were plagued with issues & the most resent was his 2018 with 80k miles having a head crack... Put 300k on that jeep, include a little Moab & Sedona & some Smoky mountains & then lets evaluate value & reliability... But I get it!!! I Know there is a Gladiator in my future & my brother just traded that cracked head 2018 after repair for a new Rubicon... We love what we love & you my friend are a Jeep fan!!!

I love both of these vehicles. And I bought them for thier strong points. I have been to the mountains of Wyoming, Colorado and Montana many times in my snowmobiling days and have been to the smoky mountains over a 50 times. I promise you this. The 300 miles a week I do in swamp mud and washouts is much harder on a vehicle. And it's also the reason I bought the gladiator. It can take it in spades and get me home at the end of the day. It is the best vehicle for my needs as a fulltime outdoorsman. The 4 runner is great for my wife and will last a long time.

@@Jason-Samko Again, both solid vehicles, I accomplish all that with My 4Runners but I take them with 300k miles into those conditions... Side by side new...pick your poison but no way I take a jeep in the deep with that many miles & not have it be risky at best. I know too many people who have both & love both but the long term reliability cant be compared... Just like Land Rover fans know, maintenance is part of the program if you are keeping & using it long term... I just treasure Toyotas reliability & longevity.

You can preach about which one is better built over the other but the fact of the matter is that Toyota has a better record than Stelantis when it comes to backing up their products and the service at Chrysler Jeep dealerships are notorious for giving crap service. Even with all the problems the new Tundras and Tacomas have, Toyota will do more to not leave you hanging than Stelantis. When Toyot had rust problems with the previous gens of Tocomas, they replaced entire frames under Warranty. Good luck getting Jeep to do that if that ever happened. BTW... My uncle was a mechanic for Jeep. Always wondered why he ran out and got himself a Toyota landcruiser as soon as he got his retirement check.

@DUNEATV It is common sense that most companies don't want outside mods done to their products. So, what you're saying is that you bought an extended warranty and didn't read the fine print? As for your situation being compared to what I was saying, comparing a policy of backing up repairs due to modification as opposed to quality issues is like comparing apples to oranges. Why should they be obligated to back up any damages due to modifications that are done in a way their product is not designed for? On the other hand, if it be a quality or design issue, they are obligated to fix it and for the most part they do. Case in point, when 4th Gen Runners had an issue with dash cracks, Toyota replaced the dashes from Runners as old as 2003 well into 2017. Stelantis should never do that in a million years. Take the current issues with the Tundras motor. Toyota is offering engine replacements a a "preemptive" measure as a solution. Stelantis would never pull their vehicles off the street and offer a rebuild of their engines as a preemptive strategy to prevent any further dissatisfaction of thoer product without a possible class action lawsuit. So, yes, Toyota doesn't want random overland tuners without engineering degrees lifting their trucks in some random garage and sticking oversized wheels they think look cool dispite ignoring the possibility that what they did could burn out the gearing traveling from Timbuktu to Moab at the speed of 85 mph. If jeep is willing to do so, that's on them. It wouldn't be a bad thing to do being that knowing that if a potential buyer mods their jeep outside of an authorized technician, their break down at Moab will be backed up under warranty, then maybe they'll be motivated to buy one of the many jeeps piling up at the dealership that no one wants to buy.

I work in the autoparts industry. I'll tell you with 4Runners for the most part I rarely get customers coming in with a need to buy replacement parts on 4Runners that are under 20 years old. I can't say that with Jeep vehicles. I have customers coming in all the time for replacement parts for Jeep vehicles that are under 10 years old or newer and most of the Jeep vehicles rarely if ever go offload. Sorry, but the long term quality on Jeeps is far inferior to Toyota products and the CR data proves it. Yes, your Jeep is better offroad than a 4Runner but to live with it everyday on road, I'll take the 4Runner all day. I will say that the new 2.5 and V6 turbo Toyota vehicles aren't up to par but I'm sure they will get there. I have the 4Runner ORP like yours and the 4Runner is better for mix use driving and the Rubicon is better off road. Just my opinion.

And these 2 are very close to each other yet "perceived " as opposite ends of the spectrum. They are so close in quality and fit and finish there is no clear winner. As for reliability. For the 100k miles and under that 90% of people will own them reliability is equal. Longevity wise the 4 runner will probably win. No time did I deny that. But on the flip side repairing the jeep is much cheaper than the 4 runner. So over 300k miles it might be a wash financially.

You can keep the turbos (4 or 6cyls), and for me I don't even need a V8 on the trail or hwy, either. V6 is fine. How much HP & torque do you actually need off/on-road? Not a whole lot. That's one huge reason why a Wrangler 392 and Bronco Raptor are completely useless to me (they're just Vanity Vehicles for weak egos). And the Pentastar is gas (ICE) -- don't care for anything EV/Hybrid or even diesel and wouldn't buy one.

This clown, who is dissing you, says he speaks from experience, but people in my family have been driving jeeps since WW2. We never thought we would be buying from a company that made trucks that invaded our land, but it only took one person to buy a Toyota in our family, and we never looked back. Jeeps were solid until Stelantis took over and made them overpriced and over teched. Granted, Toyota is now slipping with their Tundra and Tocoma issues on the new generation but I still would trust them to deal with issues more than Stelantis and their dealerships that give rotten service. They can talk all the crap they want but jeep dealerships are overflowing with these because no one is buying them, yet people are scrambling to buy this last generation of V6 runners before they go to the turbo 4. Oh, and buy the way, I never saw a newer jeep broken down on the road..., I just gave my friend a ride to pick his up from the dealership after he has been getting his reoccurring suspension issues fixed for the 5 millionth time.

@raymondabella4684 I agree and I was trying to be polite to him but the video is almost like satire but he was serious. Everyone I've known with 4runner has loved the lack of issues with it. And yes the newer 22 and up Tundra's are having there issues which is why I can't understand why Toyota would abandon that magnificent Iforce V8 which 6 of them have gone 1 million miles on the original engine...there may be more now.

Why buy a car you're gonna nitpick on? Maybe he needs his wife to have something dependable to rescue him when he breaks down! I hope he brought it in for that recall on clutch plate recall that supposedly never ever happened.

To be honest toyota has never been known for creature comforts or so called quality they have always had kinda cheap and tinny bodys and interior. if you want the nice stuff you buy the lexus. They built thier name in dependability because they dont build a new drivetrain every few years they stick to what works for them. Until recently dependability wasnt questioned. Jeeps used to be really dependable but that hasnt been the case in the last 15 years or so.

I like that he actually goes through both rigs. The main things the 4runner beats the gladiator on is resale value. It also runs down the road at 80 better than the gladiator. Everything else the gladiator outperforms. People hate to admit it. 5 speed tranny vs 8, Dana 44 axels front and rear, able to put 35 inch tires on gladiator with minimal body lift. Front and rear lockers. The list can go on. Never mind the convertible factor and a small pickup. The gladiator is not the basic jeep wrangler. This video is good. We have both and the gladiator Rubicon with a basic lift with 35 inch tires kills every 4 runner I have ever met off road. We live in the southern Utah area, and lots of off roading. Both great rigs. 4runner definitely rides better down the freeway and freeway speeds.

Very tough call. The 4 runner is a better family vehicle l, the gladiator is a truck with a bed. Both are going to be reliable, the 4 runner probably more so but the gladiaor cancels that out with how cheap parts are and how easy it is to work on. Resale value of the gladiator is gonna hold steady I think where as the 4 runner value is going to go up huge when the 25s show up. I'd drive both and see if that makes the choice. its truly sad that Stellantis is trying to kill CJD. They truly make some seriously nice vehicles

Agree. Hate stellantis! Absolutely hate em. Love jeep and ram though and wish an American company would take over jeep and ram

The manual shift transfer case I don't believe it is real. I think there is an electronic actuator. At least it was on my FJ.

I believe it real. I have to fight it sometimes when im sitting still to engage it. just like any manual transfer case selector. and I can feel it. its real enough for me anyway.

@icosthop9998 😂 never a salesman. But I talk alot and hate wasting time. My wife says that's why I repeat myself often. So that who ever is listening gets the message and does what I tell them at work.

@@Jason-Samko Great 👍 I haven’t seen any of your stuff yet except this video. I definitely like to hunt and off road. We are in the land development and wildlife management business in Arkansas and other than coyotes and pigs there is nothing to hunt this time of the year. What is your hunting channel’s name? I guess UA-cam knows I want a Jeep Rubicon 🤫

Hogs are what I'm hunting right now. Hog meat is actually my favorite. Prefer it over deer meat actually.
