    I have a question can this form of therapy help with issues from pain from a broken foot. Got a friend that had a bone broken is right foot and It healed, but she still has pain when walking too much on her foot. What would you suggest? Chiropractic, sports medicine, or some other form of therapy. She has being doing PT (therapy) but it's not helping her much at all. Many thanks, P.S you really look like Christian Bale..

    Oh and by the way I was a gymnast my entire life competitive, and then competed in college -as well! But the real arch pain started after I ran a marathon with my sister in 2010… And I start running after that and maybe a year or so later the pain came and never went away. I also was a fitness director at Kraft foods and taught classes like Zumba, Spin, Weighting, Boot Camp, etc. I was listening how you said to kind a massage and then move the muscle while you’re massaging? I just had a hard time understanding how to do that...Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If I run more on my toes like im sprinting the pain never occurs. What are your thoughts? I don't have any pain after I run as well. I also run in vivobarefoot shoes.

  • @O1sson
    @O1sson 2 роки тому +3

    I've been having pain where part of the tibialis posterior tendon inserts into the medial cuneiform for a while. However, strengthening this muscle or just contracting it on and off as to increase blood flow on a daily basis never made the pain go away. I've started strengthening the very muscles discussed in this video and now the pain is gone (unless I intentionally aggrevate the area) and I'm able to slowly start running again! I came to the idea of strengthening the flexor hallucis brevis when I discovered it has an origin on the posterior tibial tendon right about where my pain was located.

    • @Performance-Place-chiropractor
      @Performance-Place-chiropractor  2 роки тому +1

      How did you come to that conclusion?

    • @O1sson
      @O1sson 2 роки тому

      @@Performance-Place-chiropractor As an amateur I'd been occasionally studying the anatomy of the foot for weeks, trying to specify where exactly my pain was located and which muscles could be involved. To my knowledge, only the tibialis posterior inserts, and the medial head of the flexor hallucis brevis originates, in the area of pain.
      As per previous experience, the tibialis posterior seemed to be functioning normally. I simply tested my hypothesis of using and splaying my big toe more while walking, sort of like a kickstand I imagined, to aid in the braking of pronation and voilà; the pain was gone the day after when doing my usual test of bouncing on the ball of the affected foot as to put a load on it that was bigger than my body weight, since the pain was usually triggered by said load or shock while the foot was normally eversed. But now it took a few bounces before the pain began to emerge. I'm continuing strengthening mainly the flexor hallucis brevis and actively using it (previously I had sort of just dragged it along as it is my non dominant, much weaker and also physically longer foot and I had been using shoes that were too constricting) while running and my pain test does not quickly aggrevate the area anymore.
      This paragraph is purely speculation. Somewhere I read that the flexor hallucis brevis aids in maintaining the front part of the medial longitudinal arch, implying that the tib post maintains the rear part of said arch, and per my theory implying that only the front most part of my medial longitudinal arch was collapsed. I have, however, never experienced actual insufficiency of the flexor hallucis brevis. I'll also say that my anterior transverse arch is collapsed on this foot, if that might imply something.
      Over my last years in school I got more and more interested in biomechanics and sports physiology etc, and now I am to begin studying at university by mid January to become a physical therapist in 3 years.

    • @Performance-Place-chiropractor
      @Performance-Place-chiropractor  2 роки тому

      All good thoughts. Sounds like you are on to something. Splaying the feet is a method we have use to assist in using the medial and longitudinal arches in closed chained exercises. Sounds like the intrinsic foot work maybe deloading the tib anterior in a good way. Sometimes you gotta give structures a break right?

    Damn, I think I found my injury lol. I only have this at the beginning of my workouts or basketball games, and after doing that fix/release I feel better again. But it's very annoying.. is there a way I acn fix this permanently?
    I thought it was plantar fascitis for a long time, but I found out that it wasn't because it's not as painful, and I wouldn't consider it an injury because I had this since I was a kid.

    I run cross country and the pain usually comes on the 2nd to 3rd mile of my run. It's like a stabbing pain sort of in the arches of my foot because i have high arches. I wear a strassburg sock at night for this past week, but it wasn't helping. I even went to the chiropractor, and they told me to buy orthotics, but they were really expensive.

    you know i started exercising early this year in January. Typical story. overweight, New Years resolution... blah blah blah... anyway I started out walking and then later began to run although ever so slowly and not for long periods. I am lucky enough to work with a man who is an ultra marathoner. he runs midfoot and swears by it. So he put me on the right path. That said after about a month of steady work i noticed my right heal was starting to hurt. before long it had become so painful that i could barely walk. i was in constant extreme pain. eventually i was able to get to a foot specialist and he determined it was plantar and his preferred treatment was a cortisone shot. i got 2 the course of a month so far and the pain is now almost entirely gone. i may try a 3rd but im going to give it a little more time. now i know what some of the causes for this are and i fit into those categories but what im wondering is if running or more specifically mid foot running may have been the catalyst for this. its the only thing that has changed so it would seem that reasonable deduction would suggest it was what caused it to happen. who knows but i really hate not knowing the exact cause. maybe there isn't an exact cause.
