Good job Myke and welcome back to our beloved beautiful country. Congrats Evan your youtube business is inching up i think when i subscribe with you it is jus around less thank 8k early last year. By the way do you connect once in a while to your home province?
I think reverse migration is the wrong word to say unless you work in Philippine based company and is paid in pesos. But if you are filam/ filcanadian or other filsomething that works for a company based outside of Philippines is not called reverse migration but more like an expat and there’s nothing wrong with calling yourself an expat . Just my 2 cents 😂😂
I moved to Canada at a young age and have been living here for almost 30 years now. I can still speak perfect tagalog as well as my son who was born here.
Whoa! Myke's been my facebook friend for about 10 years lol I don't know how we became fb friends but I don't have fb right now. MYKE IS LIKE THE HITCH (Will Smith's character) OF CANADA. I also moved back to the Philippines pre pandemic and managed to own 6 gyms and 1 Japanese restaurant. I also used to stay in BGC. Sad that covid obliterated my businesses. Back to Canada for now as a nurse but I am feeling restless here. I know my purpose is in the Philippines. I shall return! ☝️🙏

I'm not being negative but being 16 year old we never forget our first language. I've been here for 30 years I speak tagalog very well. We never forget at age 16.
I kind of find that odd myself. I am only about 4 years older than him when I left the motherland and had never forgot the native tongue to this day. I am also much older than him. Myke might have to reprogram his way of thinking.
Lol. I don’t understand that either. Okay, I was slightly older than him when I moved to the midwest (by myself). Been here 27 years, most of my friends are white…yet I’m still very very fluent in Tagalog, Bisaya, and Chavacano. I have pinoy friends who moved here in their early teens (13 or 14), and they still speak in Tagalog and Bisaya (and yes, they speak/sound very American when speaking english). Just different mentality I suppose.
Lol he can still speak it.he just wants to speak english more.he was 17 when he went to canada.if u see him walking in the street in the Philippines you can never tell that he speaks english well just saying
I think he's more comfortable speaking English rather than Pilipino because he's surrounded by people speaking English nobody speaking Tagalog. He definitely has an American accent . I can't hear any Pilipino twang.
been away from the country for more than a decade, but never forgot our language, we speak tagalog at home, and our kids use that for our communication. So, for me as a parents moving to other country do not forget your roots, because we don't one day we might be needed to go back again.

Been here, lived on and off in PH for 9 months between 2017-2018, im from Calgary and flew back and forth to PH 14x in just over a year lol I used to see Myke working away on his computer at Analog Cafe on 17th or 4th St sw all the time lol, small world.
I make a living option trading I’m from Canada there is a lot to like about the Philippines English is widely spoken low crime rate decent health care and obviously the low cost of living just wondering what the capital gains tax is? Also it’s my understanding that foreign income is not taxed. Philippines is on my shot list of places to retire.
He was already in Calgary during the oil and gas boom in Alberta. There was a positive chain reaction to other industries. My cousin, who was a welder in Quebec move to Calgary and in 2 years time was able to buy a house right away. Found out that several former Meralco employees who fled during the Marcos regime ended up in Alberta.
Housing is more affordable in the prairies - Alberta, Saskatoon, Manitoba. My brother bought his own townhome in SK within 2 years of being an immigrant although he came with almost next to nothing. Now, the home is fully paid off, less than a decade since.
He stayed in the Philippines 1year after moving back from Saudi. He basically Grew up in Saudi Arabia. My son would be thesame. Sometimes Filipinos think thesame no matter how they stayed outside longer. The difference with kids growing up outside Philippines is more realistic not negative. Filipino bitter spirit is very obvious really. Do you even know how they communicate at home?
I moved to Canada when I was 13. My Tagalog is baluktot but good enough for conversation. However, I can't understand Tagalog Mass as the words they used were very formal. So if you think you know Tagalog, go to a Tagalog Mass in Manila. For me, the language is not as important as the Filipino values I've retained.
@SocialConfidenceMastery Awesome! We just took a 13 days trip to Bali. Stayed in a lot of luxury resorts so I felt that was a detriment and we didn't do as many outside activities as I wanted. I am based out of Cebu right now, it took like 2 months of house hunting to find a place with decent stable internet. How hard or easy is it in Manila to find a condo rental with verified 300 mbps down and 300 up internet? Thanks man
He said when he moved to Canada he didn’t speak English. Pardon me but I find that hard to believe. You attended Mapua for a year. I’m sure they taught English in high school while you were in Saudi Arabia even if you went to a Filipino school because in the Philippines the Medium of instruction is in English.
