I don't believe that a budget of $5,000 to $6,000 USD per month in the Philippines genuinely qualifies as 1% status, despite the statistical numbers suggesting otherwise. The wealth distribution in the Philippines is stark, with a significant gap between the ultra-wealthy and the rest, making the 1% figures somewhat misleading. I often recommend using a multiplier of 2.5 to 3.0 to compare lifestyles, depending on the cost of living in one’s home country. For instance, a high-cost area like Hawaii might use a 3.0 factor, while a Midwest city might lean towards 2.5. To illustrate, a top 1% earner in the U.S. makes about $600,000 to $700,000 per year, averaging around $55,000 per month. If we apply the 3.0 factor, this translates to roughly $18,000 per month in the Philippines to maintain a similar lifestyle, including luxury items like mansions, vacation homes, boats, domestic help, multiple vehicles etc. However, many expat foreigners tend to downsize significantly-often selling off possessions and adjusting their living standards, especially if their children have moved out. Thus, a more realistic budget for being a true 1% earner in the Philippines might be around $10,000 to $12,000 per month. Even he questioned the notion that his $6K budget and excellent lifestyle, would qualify him in the 1%. That said, it is great seeing how people with larger incomes can live, and this gentleman by having an economical living arrangement, has significantly cut his monthly expenses. A large luxury penthouse condo, or luxury home would significantly drive up his monthly closer to the $10-12K budget or higher.
The top 1% earner makes 55k in the US, but you are confusing what someone earns to what someone spends. That 1% earner in the US may earn 55k month but does not mean that we spend it all. Same thing in the philippines maybe earning 18k per month is correct but it does not mean you're spending that much per month.
@@wanderingdoc5075 The given analogy is assuming an apples to apples living expense budget, not total earnings. It's a given that one might not spend all that they earn. As a person who retired from a police agency in the states with one of the best pension packages in the east coast I would have to say that living here on $5,000 to 6,000 US is where it's at. Knowing exactly where you want to live and the lifestyle you want is key. I've been coming back and forth here for the past 30+ years and living here for six years now. The Philippines could be a disappointment for someone who miscalculates the money they really need to live the lifestyle they want. You can live here on $1000 a month but you'll just be getting by and things can add up and overwhelm you quickly. And thinking you can come here and "live like a king" with anything less than $2,000 a month might just be the wrong thing to do. What I disliked to the core was when I hear the salary he gives to his personal assistant and executive assistant. Way underpaid in my opinion for what he tells they accomplish for him, even for Filipino standards. Oh well ... I should be more concerned about how I treat others myself.
@@DennisSleeswijk he pays them a small wage because someone was probably telling him just give them this much. The citizens pay this much for the services, which is probably really low. My brother has a Philipinas that works for him as a nanny in Dubai and he pays her $600 a month and I told him he was a cheap ass and to pay her more. He paid her $600 because that’s what the agency was telling him. He didn’t know any better.
Wow, this is great info. $5-6,000.00 per month wont go to far if you get with the wrong girl and are stupid. $7.000-10,000.00 will be great as long as you don't have additional expenses pulling on your capital from expenses back home. I'm figuring that out now so planning is key to cutting out the waste. When we get to this point, money management is critical as your capital makes more than your working income.
20:55 “Schweinhaxe” is your “crispy German pata” and was something I would regularly eat while in Germany. You only need to make $117,000 a year to be in the top 1% in phillipines. That's it. That doesn't mean you have to spend it all or spend more than that to live a top 1% lifestyle just because others in the top 1% may make more, have bigger staffs, more expensive homes, etc. Even within the top 1% there's different levels of wealth and lifestyles. Guys like him are self made and had to earn what he has. He his smart to live below his means. I think that is the point of successful people like him who move to poorer countries. You are able to keep the same or an even better lifestyle you had in a western country for a much cheaper cost and instead severely increasing your lifestyle you actuallg invest the money you save to give yourself even more wiggle room. As oppose to spending as much or more than you earn and going bankrupt after a bad deal, bad year of trading, or just constantly overextending yourself.
The Philippines and the United States are like apples to oranges. This comparison is ridiculous. In the Philippines, you can't find a job, unlike in the US, where finding a job is abundant.

I believe one can live pretty well between 3000 to 4000 including a personal assistant, maid etc. Just don't have to join every club and group. Pick a slice of Paradice and don't go nuts. You can live very, very well. I prefer not living in the middle of the city. So that benefits my budget by a big margin.
@@Spaun12 Yes sir, you are right.
Is Evan turning green with that cigar?

More full of it than my septic tank, and not quite as smart as my dog. Mr. Big Shot!

Fascinating, comprehensive interview…
Evan smoking is bad
I would be more on the $2500 per month end as I don't smoke or drink wine. I don't play golf, but I'd be okay with learning. I was already considering a P.A. as I don't want to stand in line to pay bills. I was surprised that the P.A. was only PHP 6500. I would have thought over PHP 8000.
Hopfully more information can be provided on the condo he bought. $500 per month or less is a great deal. Did he get that with a large down payment or what, because I know the interest rates in the Philippines are higher than the USA?
I think he meant 6.5k a week
Why would you need to stand in line to pay bills anyways?
@TC-yx1qt Much of the Philippines is a cash society. I don't know about BGC but many areas require you to show up and pay in cash.
@@TomScott__ not for paying bills, most of those you can do online or at 711 etc
That’s below my budget as a single guy with no staff needed! Can’t wait to get that long term visa!
I think Evan is getting a little light headed from the cigar, funny as hell kid,LOL!
Richest man isn’t who has the most,it’s the man who needs the less.
can you clarify, is $5-6K month include EA and personal assistant, or they are extra ?
You can live the 1%er lifestyle with $3,875 per month.

Awesome video Mr savvy expat ;) looking forward for more soon 🙌🏻🍻
This is exactly what I needed. Thank you 🙏🏽.

If I had personal assistants, I would pay them 1.5x to start with bonuses and pay increases every year. I want to keep the good loyal ones.
My brother has a Philipinas that works for him as a nanny in Dubai and he pays her $600 a month and I told him he was a cheap ass and to pay her more. He paid her $600 because that’s what the agency was telling him. He didn’t know any better.
Integrity, well done as it is the foundation for life.
6500 Peso for PA, is that per day or per week or per month ?
Per week
@@mmchannel8056 is that a good pay?
What great honest person, love to hear that !
Nah it's not the wrong girl, you're the wrong guy to allow a woman to take advantage of you. Simp, inexperienced man behavior
20:55 “Schweinhaxe” is your “crispy German pata” and was something I would regularly eat while in Germany. Sometimes appears as “schweinhaxn” on menus in Germany and I believe originated in the Bavaria region of Germany. It’s a rather traditional dish in Germany and is similar to Pata and merely coincidental and not a copy of each other.
Tried that in Heidelberg
If possible can you break down that 5-6k? I would love to know what that really looks like & how you get to that number to know what that really looks like. When people say “a high standard of living or a good life” we all see that differently & would love to see what his version really is. Great vid
I'd be happy to over wine 🍷 and cigars.
Where’s the best deal for foreigners on golf course membership in Manila?

Its hard finding a place when you're under 40. You feel old compared to the 20 year old and the older guys just like sitting around

Great video again, Evan. Feels nostalgic to hear Craig’s stories again! Feels like yesterday we were just having conversations over wine yesterday
The Philippines and the United States are like apples to oranges. This comparison is ridiculous. In the Philippines, you can't find a job, unlike in the US, where finding a job is abundant.
He said Srrv can own firearms? I don’t think that’s right? Only Filipino citizens can own firearms.
So he's not retired actually? He works with two assistants, etc
I am about to retire in a few years. Looking to live exclusively in Asia/Dubai/Eastern Europe for 11/12 months in the year. My pension will be $10K a month and looking to make $5k a month on my trading portfolio. I stayed in the Philippines for a long time in the past. I spent about 7-8K a month for all my expenses and I was definitely living a lifestyle that had access to anything. I was staying in a 5-star full service hotel. My expenses could cut in half if I got a luxury condo but I love having a clean room and turn down service every night.
THE FOOD SUCKS IS THE DOWNSIDE.
You’re probably too poor to be eating good in the Philippines lmao. Only poor people think you can’t get good food anywhere. When you’re rich you can import anything you want and clearly you don’t have the budget for that. I’ve seen all your post and clearly your an old person regretting life because your a failure. I would hate life too if my life consist of posting like you. 😂
Not true. If you spend close to US price, you get top-notched food. I say even better.

Cigars is here in the Philippines are not easy to find. Next time I'm in Manila I'll definitely have to swing by at cigar bar. I have it on my list of things to buy when I'm back in the US to bring back here. I miss my cigars, especially with a good high-end glass of tequila or Port wine.
It is to hot to play golf in Manila so drive to one of Tagaytay Highlands and play were it is 15 degrees cooler. Pay a member for a guess invite or purchase a JR membership. The best place to have coffee or a cool drink is The Lounge Fort Shanghai-La. If your into wine and cigars head to Forbes town. I prefer staying in BGC so will just continue to rent for price seem over inflated. I have a friend who owns in Wack Wack towers but 1 hour to get there with traffic. There is something for everyone in Manila but with a population density of 71,000 inhabitants per km2, I prefer stay with BGC.
my god! now that was evasive! Should be here is how much it costs without telling you how much it cost. The real rich guy owns the condo you rent and the golf course you play on. That is the real 1%ers

Ortigas is not an up and coming BGC. It's been there since San Miguel Corporation built its headquarters there in the 1980s (BGC was just a grassy Camp Bonifacio back then...)
$3.7 million golf club membership in the Philippines? That’s unreal.

Sounds great for the 1% … For us working class folks I am hoping for a reasonable cost of living around 2000/2500 all in… So I better be sure to hunt for that in the Philippines…I so enjoy your vlogs…
The Philippines is not only about money, it’s the relaxed life style and safe.
A normal pensioner can have a great life here, but best of all the friendly people.
He thinks he's a player but pays his assistants $130 per month. Yah he got it going on
I spend a good buck there in Manila, and my rent is high. My savings are eating out. Since I am not a fan of food there in the Philippines. Still, no hate. If one can live such life, power to them. But love the night life. Just got back to LA and averaging over 100.00US not including my mortgage

Man he pays 5-6k per month wow. He must make more than that.
Sosyal,your rich,you nailed yourself.
Did he say 2500 USD per month?
I’m pretty sure he only hired those assistants for easy access to sex. The reason why he was busy and needed assistant didn’t make sense 😂. It doesn’t take that much time to do option tradings, I have done both option and forex while working 12 hours as a RN. A better answer he could have made would be running multiple busineses that’s why he needed an accountant/assistant.
He hired an all inclusive assistants.

He’s definitely going to have a comfortable lifestyle, but categorizing him at the top 1% in the Philippines is quite a stretch.
