Live plane spotting from Manchester, UK. Live streaming from the Runway Visitor Park, Manchester Airport. Currently using dual runway ops at MAN, catching landings and take offs on two separate runways. The second busiest of the airports in the UK behind London Heathrow (LHR). I currently fly the 757-200 and 767-300. The 757 is a great machine and more fun to fly!
I assume you'd have to, but did you require any additional type rating training to be qualified to fly the 767 or 757, whichever you've got the type rating for later?
Good question! The 757/ 767 is a dual type rating, meaning if you have one, you can fly both, at least in the eyes of the US FAA. I can't speak to other state's regulations. At my carrier, our pilots fly both, often in the same day. The cockpits are similar enough that it rely isn't an issue to go back and forth, even though the 757 weighs 250k# and the 767 weighs 408k#.
Our crews do differences training during their initial qualification so that they're exposed to both airframes.There is a significant difference in the way each one flies, but it's a fairly simple adjustment.

Normally on just 2 people, and when one goes to the toilet then just on one. Yes, I think about it a lot, such a big responsibility. Although its the same on trains, boats or buses
Probably a lot more people. Just think of all the ground maintenance, the ATC, the engineers who built the thing. The list goes on

The sound of flying on a 757 when i was a kid i will never forget

My first flights as a kid were all on the BA 757's running the shuttle service between Edinburgh and London. Amazing planes with a proper punch in the back of acceleration and a steep climb angle. Great things. The only flights now which give a similar sensation are the Embraer flights out of City because they actually punch the throttles wide open and climb hard. Most planes are pretty nondescript these days with a lack of flair or character.
That climb out angle is insane, 757 my fave plane above all. I've flown on 707s, 727s, 737s, (not the MAX !) 747s, 767s, lots of props too. In '65 Lockheeds to Iceland and some Dash 8s too. Boeing used to be great now, hmm I think I'll opt for airbus.

The flying pencil is up there with the L1011 in terms of sexiness and sound. Gone are the days of these amazing Airliners.
I miss climbing in the back of a Rolls Royce RB211 on a cold wet day and warming my hands and gloves on the exhaust nozzle during a post flight inspection. 🙂🇦🇺
