Back for part2! Sounded a heavy pack but for a 4 day hike, not too bad, although a steep climb up. Nice when you got on the ridge and although a bit hazy, you still got a canny view. That boulder field looked dodgy mind and defiantly ankle breaker territory. The dancing was a definite fail lol, although you did make up for it my pitching in a great spot at Gleann na Muice, ok that's a £5 to Mountain Rescue lol! Canny bonnet mind, but with midges about I bet you needed it, cheers Alan
Wow! There just is nowhere like Scotland. I'm just praying to get up and walk the South side - Sgurr Ruadh, Liathach and Maol Chean Dearg this year. Thank you, this video reminded me of how much I love Scotland. Great video.
Back of the back of beyond. Superb footage. Always wondered what it was like in there while standing on An T. Now I know.......bit of an exped to say the least. Brilliant! roll on the next instalment.👍👍👍👍 that wee synth tune at 13:55 was well retro too👌😀
I’d love to mate, distance and family commitments are currently the killer bud, but deffo one day. It looks so remote from An T, it’s a great video with plenty of valuable guidance and lays out what to expect very well. I certainly wouldn’t want a heavy pack. Starav round last Friday for me. Gorgeous summit views! I've wanted to climb those mountains ever since I saw them from Slioch. And I love the "snow pigeons". Those birds are masters of camouflage!
Just found your channel and enjoying it already. Subbed and will watch a few more tonight. Wildcamping, Bothies and Scotland all right up our street!! Awesome stuff.
Cheers and thanks for the sub. I'll check out your channel too as I'm always looking for similar content to mine to watch in between trips away. Cheers Robin
What an awesome hike into camp Robin. If ever their was a spectacular route into camp this has to be it. I take it the car was safe. All the best. Mark
Cheers Mark, it's up there as the best backpacking country in Scotland imo. Car was fine. Busy layby with other walkers etc. Always a risk I guess. Cheers Robin
Great video Robin.Haven't done any camping yet and bought a tent for this summer to have a go.Fisherfield looks stunning.Looking forward to going in there.
Brilliant film Robin! What an amazing place, The views you got were stunning. But they boulderfields look well dodgy, Potential ankle snappers by the looks of them. Pretty sad as how some people now miss out the Corbett, Heard about the demotion a few years ago. Thanks for sharing this ma man, Will watch part II the morra :) All the best, peter :)))
Cheers Pete, aye it is pretty sad as its a nice hill with good views. Why miss it? The Kinlochewe approach has become popular since the demotion as its easier to avoid. That boulderfield goes on forever. Glad it was dry. 😁 Thanks for watching, hope you enjoy part 2.
@WalkWithWallace it was mate, we underestimated fisherfield, thought we would do the 6 over 12 hours, done 2 over 7 hours, good excuse to go back and try again, amazing place

Just watched this again and it brought back the nightmare of the Sgurr Ban boulders field. Done it again since but went the slab route from Lochavoirn, much easier.
That looked a brilliant trek out but here, hing oan a minute... how come I’m a fiver down now? 😂 I guessed chicken tikka and will donate the obligatory £5. I’m itching for my next hike after watching that 👍🏼

Great trip. Thought we would REALLY get the midges as it was more overcast and later than you, but we were lucky, despite the low wind speeds. I'm enjoying your videos, but I have to take issue with your statement that Americans call ptarmigans "snow chickens." I have never heard anyone say that! Myth. Must be that Scottish whiskey talking. Hey, are the midges all summer long? Or do they die down after a few months?
Haha, fair play. No whisky involved though. 😁 The midges begin to make an appearance in May, they're absolutely savage in July and August and begin to die off in September.

Great video as always. Only thing, only time I remember hearing a ptarmigan called a snow chicken is in documentaries comparing them to chickens, lol.

Try for a A'Mhaighdean summit camp, saying that you'd get pitched on Beinn Dearg Mhor just in front of the summit cairn.
Amazing trip. Done it last year and was amazing. That boulder field brought back some early morning memories as it was horrific :)
Cheers Ray, aye it must be one of the most sustained boulder fields in Scotland? I don't recall others going on for so long. 🤔
Terrific video. Thanks for posting. Just out of interest why do you use a tent with no inner mesh?
Basically it was really lightweight and spacious, performed well in windy conditions too. Couldn't use it in peak midge season.
What’s the watch on your wrist, surely it tells more than the time? In Canada we call them ptarmigan too. American’s eh. It was a great video!
Cheers Clint, it's a Suunto All Black Core. Just a basic digital ABC watch.
Brilliant video! Magnificent views 😍 that looked like a lovely hike!
Great vid. Could you pitch up on the tennis court, or is it too exposed & slanted?
There was a grassy section below the slabby bit, you'd be on an angle and close to the edge. Doable in good conditions.
Just watched this again and it brought back the nightmare of the Sgurr Ban boulders field. Done it again since but went the slab route from Lochavoirn, much easier.
