Met Mark back in 1996 in Tulsa Oklahoma outside of Shots bar and Grill I wasn’t into playing guitar then. Boy the questions I would ask now if I had the chance to meet Mark again. He is one of the greatest guitar players ever. I always knew he was good but now that I’m learning to play I realize how good he really is and what a missed opportunity I had. Had I had know man I would have stood there asking him questions about playing guitar all night.
When they changed to blues, I turned completely off. Any half-ass garage band can play that boring stuff. However, in the 80s Mark had one of the BEST combinations of slightly bluesy but also flashy and very melodic playing with tons of feel. He was EXTREMELY underrated back then. I miss those days. To me, he held his own against some of the best players of those days - miles better than the "Ibanez artists" that did nothing but wank and shred (boring).
