    Thanks, Tom, for day two of your fitness regimen! Your emphasis on fruits, spot on. Those stretches, and the fruit and hydration, you discuss make all the difference in recovery. (I just have to remember not to skimp on the stretching.) Not looking forward to a NC winter off from tennis, and envy your FL paradise, but will use the time off for developing a tennis product and new book. Edw.

    Great info, Tom. If one doesn’t have resistance bands, an alternative for the shoulder dislocates is to use a pvc pipe, dowel, or even broomstick with your grip as wide as it needs to be to keep your arms straight (no bending at the elbows). You can also use for the overhead squats you demo’d in your last video.

    Thanks for the great video Tom! It was very useful! Sometimes when changing surfaces (from clay to hard) or simply when you had a lot of impact on the court, where I feel the soreness etc. is more in the joints (ankles, knees and hip) and not so much in the muscles... Any recovery tips for this kind of "impact soreness"? Thanks in advance.

    Eat fruit yes. Spinach sure but NOT as a main protein source. Leafy greens basically have no protein in them so not sure where you got that information. 10 oz of spinach has 8g protein so you would need to essentially eat that entire tub you had for a marginal amount. Meat is by far the best protein source and has the most bioavailable nutrients possible. 4 oz chicken breast has about 30g protein. Much higher source.

    It depends on your age as well what you should consume? I normally play in the evening and eat my dinner after a match

    quite good advertisements about stretching and moving for recovery... but I got stun about something, people making keto diet would tell and show that their diet is better for sport; so....¿?, I liked the idea of blending banana and spinach

    • @Fundamentalsoftennis
      @Fundamentalsoftennis  3 роки тому +4

      The keto diet IS NOT as optimal as a vegan diet for an athlete for 2 BIG REASONS... a keto diet is high in saturated fat which has a very negative effect on the uptake of sugar to the cells, (all the food that we eat must be converted to simple glucose before the cells can use it) which the body needs for energy production, and the uptake of oxygen to the cells which is essential for stamina and endurance. Try the bananas and spinach, you'll love it!!
      To your tennis success,
      Tom

    I don't buy that aguement. If we are made out of muscles wouldn't the body have a easier time rebuilding itself if it had muscle from a animal to use vs fiber from a plant? It's like you want to rebrick a house and instead of using bricks you use siding to rebrick it. How does that make sense?

    • @Fundamentalsoftennis
      @Fundamentalsoftennis  3 роки тому +3

      First of all, THE ONLY THING that BUILDS MUSCLE is RESISTANCE TRAINING... not what you're eating... yes, you need adequate protein for repair but our protein needs are minimal... NO MORE than 10% of daily caloric intake, once a person is fully grown we have a very small requirement for protein. In fact, TOO MUCH protein leads to toxic blood and tissues, autoimmune dysfunction, arthritis, impaired liver function and kidney failure, that's why USA has more people on dialysis than any other country in the world... HUGE MEAT CONSUMERS. Secondly, RAW plant based proteins have the amino acid chains INTACT and are more readily used by the body... meats must be cooked, when people consume food that has been heated over 161 degrees the proteins become damaged and deranged and causes the protein in the food to become "denatured", meaning they are NO LONGER VIABLE.

      Not sure this applies but animal protein is not necessary for muscle growth. In nature you only have to look as far as a gorilla.

      @@Fundamentalsoftennis That's what I use to think back when I was vegan until I tried a experiment of eating meat. Mood improved and no more muscle cramps. I really do implore you to give it a try. Surely the healthiest diet, so they say, can handle a weeks worth of eating meat. If not are you sure that truly is the healthiest diet? Don't mean to be a jerk, but I see that you are caught in a trap and I'm trying to help you escape from that trap. I know because I got caught in that same trap.

    12 bananas?! Won’t that give me diabetes?

    • @Fundamentalsoftennis
      @Fundamentalsoftennis  2 роки тому +2

      No!!! But if you're on a high fat diet which most people are eating that many bananas can be a challenge...So much confusion out there... the sugar in fruit is not the cause of diabetes... the real cause is TOO MUCH DIETARY SATURATED FAT... which clogs and gunks up the natural process of the insulin receptors picking up the sugar in the bloodstream and delivering it to the cells... this process no longer functions properly because the oils in fat coat the insulin receptors and even the sugar molecules to a point where they are no longer functioning... when that happens you have the disease DIABETES... simple solution stop eating saturated fats!!! Do it for 1 week and eating more bananas becomes easy.
      To your tennis success,
      Tom
