They personified how it was to be young gifted and black in the inner city . i grew up in Philadelphia and had 2 sisters . We were i thought really pretty like these ladies and while we had i thought some gifting it was hard to get out. my oldest didnt make it out but unlike sister she didnt die, and i did through the grace of God made it out to travel the world in the military, and my kids were not raised living in a world of ghetto life. i will never forget these ladies who made us all dream and showed us a reflection of what we could be. Much love to the cast and crew and still a fan of all the ladies and gents in this film God bless.
The 2012 version was an insult to the original!! Sparkle is a movie intended to be dark! It showed the realism of that era. The remake made it seem like they were embarrassed of our history. Although it was pretty good, they should have given it another name.....
