Windows Can't Format USB Fix

'windows was unable to complete the format' error is solved using the command prompt window without need of any other third party software

This fixed my flash drive:
diskpart
list disk
select disk 1
clean
convert gpt
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
Now right click and format in file explorer
(Like this comment so others can see)

I was using balenaetcher to turn my USB into a flash drive but it disconnected midway through, turning my USB unusable. I have the same problem.
EDIT: my USB probably was faulty, tried with a different USB and everything went smoothly

Do the following:
cmd: selec disk ___
cmd: clean
cmd: create partition primary
cmd: format fs=ntfs
cmd: assign
Now just wait for it to finish

@@g_stavowe all did. I watched several videos and all their tricks including yours but couldn’t remove this write protected problem away from my usb drive. I can watch videos and movies from it and open any files. Usb disk is healthy nothing wrong. Low level formatting gets IO error. I think too many files filled up the drive although it shows 1.73 gb free. This led to this problem as someone else mentioned on google. Sandisk has this issue on their drives.
