Honey you don't need to explain yourself . Your special !
We are all God's children . I celebrate life and my many blessings everyday . And every day I walk outside I thank the Lord for all his beautiful creations and everything he's given all of us to enjoy !
We are lucky to have a chance to enjoy it.
I bet Maxwell's still in Heaven with his new wheels.!
Stay well . love your little roll up. I want to make some for gifts , just because gifts.

Thanks Jo! Maxwell is thoroughly enjoying his new found freedom!! I've made over 400 videos and the only reason I ever mention (or explain myself)in perhaps 4 or 5 videos, is when I had received kindly requests or suggestions for things such as 'Christmas Tree Skirts', or 'Stockings, or 'Advent Calenders'...etc, etc. I felt it only fair to address the fact that I don't make those things BECAUSE I don't celebrate those things, and not because I am ignoring those requests out of rudeness. Perhaps I DO overshare!!! LOL!

You made me smile. You prove that crafting brings joy, and in these days, joy is a must have no matter what religion. I am glad I came upon your videos as I was looking for something similar. I actually make my own stationary sets to match and go with my critters I make. Your idea is close to what I was looking to do and solves my problems I was finding to hold and fit what comes in the package yet be small and simple. Thank you! Have an amazing day!

Excellent explanation of celebrating the seasons as a quilter what represents that time of year...versus putting a religious connotation to that symbolism! Well said. Clever caddy for crayons with pad of paper - 2 thoughts- you can also get chunky crayons which are fatter for little hands which won’t break easily as a standard one if that suits the age. Also the elastic band is a great idea ~ once the kit is folded sew an oversized button at the place where the band would stretch around it not too tight or loose. Again, little hands with oversized but manageable by a child! Thank for such fun ideas❣️👍

The button idea has been suggested many times.....why didn't I think of it?!?!? LOL! And I like the oversized chunky little hands crayons also:) I think I would make pleated pockets for them, due to the thickness.

I used to have a neighbour who was a witness. We both had young children at that time and I asked about her kids missing Christmas.
She said, about once a month she got them a gift and just casually put it on their beds for when they got in from school as a surprise. Just one gift that they could enjoy and appreciate. 😊
Many many times over the years, especially in December when I was exhausted from shopping, baking, searching for gift ideas and worrying about the expense, I have thought what a wonderful idea quiet monthly gifts are ☺️
I think the crayon roll is a great idea....I may make an extra one for my crochet hooks 🤔

We used to receive presents throughout the year and my brothers and I were asked by school mates if we ever 'missed out'. Well, first of all, you can't miss what you have never had and, to be honest, we never felt left out. Our parents didn't need one day to give to us. Funny, my dad was not a Witness (he was Presbyterian), but was fed up with the commercialization and exhaustion and expense of the holiday season (after my mother stopped celebrating), so much so that he stopped also!! And expressed his relief!! LOL!

Please don't let anyone change your style on how and what you talk about or how long. I cannot believe that people at this time have comments on what we celebrate or not. Unreal. You shouldn't have to explain. You're great, your channel is great, and your you tube family loves you. Above all as you say, we love the beautiful creation of our lovely Earth, such a gift. So don't get frustrated and you can repeat anything. Thanks for reading.

Thank you so much! The only reason I felt compelled at all to state my beliefs was due to the fact that I receive MANY requests and suggestions for tree ornaments, Christmas tree skirts, Quilted stockings, Advent calendars, etc., and found it rude and dismissive if I just ignored those requests and didn't acknowledge the fact that I don't make those things because I don't celebrate those things! That was all!! :) But it is lovely people like you who understand and are kind!! Thank you Thank you Thank you....did you see what I did there?!?! LOL! LOL!

I love the seasons and live in Florida where we mostly have one, but in the fall i put placemats on the table geared with the fall leaves a hang my Flamingo wall hangings for summer. Love seashells too. I'm sure Jehovah doesn't mind these things as long as we still put him first.

    • @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
      @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory  3 роки тому +3

Point taken, however, I'm not looking for approval from anyone as to why I make what I make when I make things- I'm only a home quilter after all ~ I'm only explaining that BECAUSE I don't honor such (repeated requests and) suggestions such as Christmas Tree Skirts, Quilted Stockings, Advent Calendars, Ornaments, etc., I don't wish to appear rude and ignore those requests. Hence my explanation as to why. I think the overwhelming response has been one of respect and not one of stumbling.

Hello Jean...so sad that some people judge... we had witness neighbours and when all the little ones were out in the streets playing with their new toys, the little kids would give sweets to our neighbours children...I dislike the commercialism and pressure at this time of the year, I love your concept of gift giving....and thank you so much for this tutorial, it couldn't have come at a better time, I just this week bought a set of small pencils and a note pad with the idea of making a roll to keep my toddler grand daughter occupied while on a flight to see her other grandparents.i will also make a bag to keep it in, plus a few other goodies for her....stay well lovely friend....( and I adore old sewing baskets and haberdashery...)💕

People are funny, Jean. I am waiting on beautiful lace shawl hand made in Eastern Europe. Lady making it for me in soft gray cotton. I was speaking to neigbour here. I only commented back (stating WHY I don't make such things as MUCH REQUESTED items, such as Tree Skirts, Ornaments, Stockings, Advent Calendars, etc., ) because I don't celebrate those things! I'm okay with it as perhaps the dialogue shows that I'm not ignoring those requests by being rude and not acknowledging them, only as to the reason why! Jen and I text all the time and use ZOOM but it's not like being with her and spending quality time and a hearty laugh together! We have known each other for over 25 years and STILL laugh every time we are together! To happier times!! Don't we all need them?!!?!? Thanks again!! :) Have a lovely day!:)

Oh, Jean, didn’t you tell us you’ve tried Toasty Cotton batting? How do you like it in comparison to Warm & Natural brand? Joann’s is having a 90” wide by 20 yard roll on sale on Wednesday for, if I remember correctly, $79.99! That would make ten twin quilts (for example) at about $7.99 each for the batting. I think that is pretty reasonable, but wonder about the quality. Is it as thick as warm & Natural? Thank you for your input and expertise! 🧵

You are so correct Brigitte! And it is a wonderful thing to have been blessed with Free Will to serve or worship as we each see fit to. As I said in another comment, I've made over 400 videos and the only reason I ever mention (or explain myself)in perhaps 4 or 5 videos, is when I had received kindly requests or suggestions for things such as 'Christmas Tree Skirts', or 'Stockings, or 'Advent Calenders'...etc, etc. I felt it only fair to address the fact that I don't make those things BECAUSE I don't celebrate those things, and not because I am ignoring those requests out of rudeness. Perhaps I DO overshare!!! LOL! Hope you are having a good day and your hands don't hurt so much! Bless you:)

I think that person who made that comment has a different concept of "seasonal". I think they were probably relating "seasonal" to "holiday".

Yes ~ I think so. Whereas I don't see 'holiday', I see 'seasons'! LOL! I also wanted to address it because I didn't want to appear rude or thoughtless when I receive countless requests for things such as Christmas Stockings, Tree Skirts, Advent Calendars, Ornaments, etc., because I don't make those things.
