76% of People Die With the Same Regret

  • Turns out you’re going to have to fight for your right to be happy. 3/4 of the population lay on their deathbed wishing they would have stayed true to themselves, not living the life others expected of them.
Here’s how I think you win that fight:
    1. Build accountability around your personal goals. Writing your bucket list builds accountability because you’re turning a thought into something tangible and your list acts a reminder that your dreams exits. Sharing your goals also builds accountability and having someone check in on you (an accountability buddy) increases your chances of success by 77%.
    2. Don’t wait to feel inspired to go after your dream, you’ll be waiting a long time. Create your own inspiration through small steps of action. Nike has been saying it for a while, Just Do It.
    3. Remind yourself, anyway you can, that you are mortal. It might be tomorrow, it might be when you’re 80, but one day you will die. That means your time is limited therefore now is the time to write your list.
Build these muscles to win the fight! 💪
Is there something on your list that you’ve been wanting to do for a longtime? Let me know. Make the leap. www.bennemtin....

Listen. 99.9 percent of all humans who have ever lived did not have time to worry about what they did or didn’t do when it comes to death. Mostly they have struggled in the mud for survival and are content with basic events of human existence. Don’t sweat it. Trust your decisions at the time. Don’t be preoccupied with decisions in the past that you can’t change. Enjoy the life you’re living now.

I didn't understand this until 15 years ago when I was about to die from chronic kidney failure. I thought about all the things I didn't do for one lame reason or another. I got very lucky and received a kidney transplant and things have been great since. Now I do all the things I didn't do before. I take that day trip. I clock out of work on time. I call that friend I haven't talked to in a while. I visit my family. I ask that girl out on a date.
Getting sick turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me.

I'm pushing 80. Most of my regrets are over things I wished I done different in social situations. The best part of my life has been since I was in my late 40's. I look back and most of the regrets are how I should have treated others better or handled situations better. But I've lived a good life. Which in some ways makes my failings with others even worse. Just me.
Again, this is just me, I've realized at the end of my life, if I have any real self-awareness, that the only Judge I face is myself. There is no report card as you lay dying.

Can I ask you what to do If I don't know what my passions are in regards to a career? I see people say to follow your dreams, but what if I don't have aspirations. I'm 22 right now and slave away at a job that pays a little over minimum wage. I stopped going to college because I can't afford to waste anymore money on a major I don't care about (business). I can feel the time slipping away as years pass by in a flash. I want to make money and help my aging and sick mother but I also suffer from depression. I'm scared of making a choice and being stuck because it costs an arm and a leg to get an education these days. Could you please give me some advice?

    • @sscalercourtney5486
      @sscalercourtney5486 Рік тому +9

@@Jinxser Wish I could help you. But I always had drive. I didn''t earn it. I was born with it.
I don't say this to frighten you or put you down. But life can be harsh. Other people realize some can't cope. Thus some people pay money so others can go on disability. Many Doctors realize that some just can't cope and agree to allow people to collect disability so they don't have to put up with life's struggles. So there is a bottom underneath you.
If you had the median income of your area, half make less, half make more. How would you spend your free time? Think hard on that. One day or one week's thinking isn't enough. Ask someone you know what they think you would do. The answer to that is the best way to determine what your passion really is, imho. Probably, rough guess, 90% of the earth's population don't get to do their passion.
Next best thing ask the college you went to, or someone in your State government to take a test that will tell you what field you would be best at. I did and mine said sales. I hated that when I got the results, but spent my life working in sales and enjoying it. You really need to make the effort to find out where you can take that test to determine what kind of work you're best suited at. Show enough effort to find out if you really want to solve your problem.
I know some people who have a hobby. And that led to them working in a retail store of their hobby or doing the hobby on the side. If only selling on eBay.
I'm a college grad. Due to an awful first marriage, I never used my college major to make a living. But the most important courses I took in college had nothing to do with earning a living. Most people can't comprehend this. I recently saw where at least 5 of the top 50 S&P Corporations were lead by people with a degree in Philosophy. That degree is almost useless at the starting level of work. But is of primary importance for running international corporations. The vast majority are clueless to this fact. Best of luck to you and I hope my reply will be a tiny bit of help.

there's a good analogy with food, it goes like this "How do you know what do you like If you haven't tried?". The same is with things in life. You gotta dip your toes in as many different things as possible. Give yourself a year if you can to try a new thing every week for that week, at the end of the year you will have so much knowledge of different fields you will be able to choose from. Don’t wait for tomorrow, tomorrow never comes…
If everyone say you are fokin crazy because they can see your goal, fock them, just leave them behind and keep going..
There’s a very big difference between REGRET AND FAILURE
THE BIGGEST REGRET IS NOT TAKING ACTION, NOT TRYING TO DO IT EVEN WHEN ALL THE ODDS ARE AGAINST YOU, FAILURE, MISTAKES ARE PART OF GROWING UP. So don’t get yourself confused by thinking what others lived or experienced is what it has to be, break family cycles, question everything, never assume nothing, take advices, listen to people but never buy their ideas that life is like they think it is.
