"The 5 most common regrets of the dying were:
Number 1: I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
    Number 2: I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.
Number 3: I wish I had the courage to express my feelings.
Number 4: I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
Number 5: I wish I had let myself be happier."

I am 65. From 35 to 65 .... 30 years I wonder what happened? Opportunities I have let go unnoticed ... because I was so inwardly focused. Opportunities to spend time with loved ones, travel, expand my career, invest... poof. All gone never to return. I have done a few good things recently that will change that. Now to push the gear into lever and try and make it to 95 ... and make 30 glorious years. If I don’t make the 30 I will go out in a positive frame of mind.

I'm 25. When i was your age i would sit in the library researching college and what an amazing thing it would be to study the Classics and linguistics. I was told by my mother she would not finance my college or help pay for it. Growing up in rural Mississippi, even though parents made great money, the thought of being told to relegate my life to welding for a scholarship was unsettling. But thats all she was willing to help finance.
Today, I travel across the United States for well over what some mid-career software engineers make, but despite all the money, I regret never finding a way to chase my dream. Monsy will not give you happiness. Take it from someone who once thought it was the key to my personal fulfillment.
Don't let your parents dictate your life or listen to what they think will bring you fulfillment. If you know what your passion is, and you happen to be one of the few who knows your calling, let nothing stop you.
Do not let relationships or other connections relegate you to a life of misery. Fail, try again, fail, then you will approach success. But dont let life pass you by always wishing you could do the thing you loved most. If you find sometime later that what you wanted wasnt, indeed, for you, at least thats part of your life you will not regret. If you never try for that goal, you will eternally regret not knowing if you would enjoy it or not.
Lead a life of action and take calculated risks. Life is too short to think about missed opportunities.

When I was six years of age, my first run-in with language was at a Chinese restaurant. I was always fascinated that humans could communicate in such a myriad of ways.
As I grew older, the interest still remained. But the path to wanting to understand the science of language presented more so a path, at least to a job. So a double major was what I sought after, studying dead languages as a hobby and for potential reference should I decide to pursue a PhD in the same.
Sometimes, you just know. Very few, however, genuinely know what they wanted to do. I did, and still do, yet now I'm at the age where such financial risks and lack of income for four years might not be economically sensible. At least in my teenage years, being able to study such things in college would have been more efficient considering my present circumstances and then, at least, I didn't much mind the harrowing debt I would face.
If you know you are passionate about something, pursue it, even if in the end you might have to pay off some debt. Don't spend your life regretting as I do.

The best way to avoid regrets during dying is to have a meaningful life. Not that life which starts from us and ends with us, but a life which embraces all good around us and leaves inspiration to millions after we leave this world.

I'm very happy since I left my parent's home at age 21 and have been living on my own. I've been doing everything that I want to do and so far at 68 years old, I've NO regrets in life. In the same situation, if I had to do it all over again I shall do the same; I'm doing things to please God and myself!
I've one daughter whom I've taught to lead a good life; be kind and honest, and do things that would please God and herself so there would be NO regrets!
Although my daughter doesn't like hearing it, I frequently say to her: we all have to die someday so when it's my time, don't cry for me but whenever you feel sad, pray and God would give you the courage and strength that's needed. I've had a happy and fulfilling life with NO regrets! Cherish the good memories, and remember the good things that I've taught you, especially helping those who are less fortunate! DON'T LET ANYONE EVER abuse or take advantage of you IN ANY WAY! Keep me in your heart so I shall be close to you and remember that God and your mom would ALWAYS love you, so continue my sweet girl to live your best life; perhaps someday we shall meet again!

I’ve seen and experienced too much death in my life and one thing I’ve learnt is that the only thing that matters is the people you love and care about.
Money and material things aren’t important.
My dad had bowel cancer, and even though he was seriously Ill and taking the horrendous medication and felt tired, exhausted and ill all the time he drove the 30 minute drive everyday to be with my mum who had had a stroke and was in a nursing home.
He never complained about his suffering.
He did this everyday for 11 years until the day he eventually died.

I say to all you younger people: have the courage and confidence to follow your own path and become what you dream of, don't let anyone stop you. When the time comes for you to die you will regret not the things you did but the things you didn't do.That is so, so true !

This motivates me to study in graphic design, yet there's still a certain sense of doubt within me whenever I think about it. Currently in nursing school but it's not what I'm truly passionate about, more like an obligation. I'm 19 and barely in my first semester, I like to believe I still have a chance to change but I dont know if I should. But I'll do everything I can so then in the future I'd at least be content in knowing I did my best.

You're still so SO young and have more than enough time to pivot. Get into graphic design. Don't do nursing because you feel like you are obligated or because you're already in school. You can change now. Do what you love. Let this be a reminder or the sign you were looking for.

I have few regrets. I took my family to Guatemala every year at Christmas to spend it with a children's home. I travelled a lot. I always said I only had three aspirations. One to be a builder of nice homes. Two to be a farmer, three, to be a missionary. I accomplished all three and I'm not done yet. For all that I made bad choices in women. I chose very badly there. I am writing a book of my adventures. It's called "Memoirs of a Vagabond for God"

I agree with most of this there is a lot of it I am working on now I am retiring in July to take care of my husband who is disabled and more then that to also not be owned by a boss any more . For the first time in my life I am putting my self before others and if I have to make some money by working it will not be over 20 hours and they will be told I do not have to be here treat me well or I will quit. I will never hear but over time is more money because I would rather live on nothing and be free then to be rich and be owned .

I wish I could love myself!
Had I love myself my entire life would have been different. I wouldn't have lived with a man who hates me. My children would experience love and grow up with self esteem. Feeling good enough about themselves. They would not struggle with suicidal thoughts. How horrible a life growing up feeling unloved, unworthy, unintelligent. You live in misery with depression, anxiety self harm, self hate and the cycle continues passing on from parents to children. If only we could love ourselves enough. The world would be a beautiful place.
Your whole life path is different with self love.

I look at him and think, "If only he had done something to improve his health, he may not be going in such a slow and painful way!" But he didn't. Then I think, "In 22 years, I will be his age! Do I want to look back at my life and wish I had done things differently!" My answer to myself...No! Every time I start to slack off, I think of him! Thank you so much for this video! i've noticed that all of the regrets/ comments are not mentioning about spirituality. if we lack spirituality and then we suffer all of these regrets. but I didn't mean that material things are not important. the difference between material and spiritual things is that... material things can only give you temporary satisfaction but spiritual things can give you a permanent solution all of these regrets. HE will give you peace of mind and make your heart happy and so it's desire. ❤😊

If I had put myself and wants first, I wouldn't have the family I have today! Married young..if I regretted it, I may not have lived to see great grandchildren! Stayed married...if I thought of what I wanted, I wouldn't be married 67 years! Worked hard in home and out! If I hadn't I wouldn't have my comfortable life in my old age! Lost a child...my only regret...but if I wouldn't have had hard knocks and a steady faith before, I may have lost my sanity! When you look back at life, you may not have done what you Wanted to do, but did what you had to do. You can't look back with regrets bc you don't really know if you did the things you Wanted to do, if your life would have been better! Keep the faith! Keep your family first and top of mind! Work for the things you want bc they will mean more to you than if they came easy! Take what life gives you and PERSEVEER!

You are lucky if you learn this while still alive ans have chance to make things right. I lived as other wanted me to live for soo long.. Now, I have regular fights with people who want to put me back in the box that I finally escaped from. There is no way they are going to do that, not while I am still breathing.. I know who I am, and I know my talents and I am willing to work on them hard, while still having quality relationships with people.. Remembering that every day could be the last day. I dont want to have regrets in the end..these 5 are relly good advice and good to be reminded of because it is so easy to get preoccupied with all the stuff going on in life.

Not only cool info but truthful as well. Others want to define your life for you. Once you become an adult you have the right to live your own life. Some parents are afraid to let go. In a way they've become dependent on you. That's because they're afraid of losing you. If you've seen the movie "Throw Momma From The Train," you get the picture of what I'm talking about. Some parents are scared to live alone and that one day they'll die alone. They'll say that they looked after their aging parents and it's your obligation to look after them. The thing is that they lived their lives. Now is your turn to live yours because you can't always, be putting your life on hold on account of them. Many controlling and over protecting parents have ruined their children lives. Children once they become of age they have the right to leave home. There comes a time that the little birdies leave the nest.

My top five biggest regrets are.
    1. At times when in life I have been disloyal
    2. This caused pain in my relationships, which I then had to justify through psychological machinations.
    3. I always waited to get approval before I did anything. Later in life I was able to work through this learned behaviour.
    4. # 3 made it so I always had to wait before I ventured out to do things?
    5. Now I am in recovery 18 years. I had a near death experience 20 years ago. I got a new chance.
trying new things and working on better habits.

I have a VERY GOOD long term memory almost photographic memory when it comes to things in my childhood. I don't have many grey hairs and I have a twin that looks just as young as me. I never stop thinking I'm to old to do that. I live life to the fullest. By the time the weekend is over from having fun come Monday morning at work I am already planning what fun I'm going to have in the upcoming weekend . You have to live life to the fullest , every minute of every day . There's plenty of time to sleep when you die. When your time comes you want to say I did it ( ALL ! ) . I DIDN'T WAIST 1 SECOND MY CREATOR HAS GIVEN ME , ON fighting ,bickering, staying home, not getting to meet new people or try new things, not going to so many good food resteraunts , not seeing all the beautiful places in this world there are to see, not learning everything there is to know about life our existence or religion. I hang out with ALL age groups ,races and types of people with no discrimination . I talk to VERY WEALTHY people and VERY POOR people ALL the time. I LOVE PEOPLE AND THERE STORIES . I do not care to be around negative people or mean people - NOTHING ever comes out good being around them . @@10RBREEZY Just keep yourself surrounded with GOOD PEOPLE ,, and stay away from the negativity , try not to watch the news... ask Our Creator for help. And NEVER ,EVER ,GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS.. THE REWARD WILL BE WORTH EVERYTHING YOU PUT INTO IT. Just ALWAYS remember the "" Law of attraction "" is a true law of quantum physics ...just like say the law of gravity. WHATEVER you think about GOOD or BAD , YOU WILL ATTRACT --'-- So it's VERY ,VERY IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS THINK GOOD THOUGHTS...Inspite of the reality that is currently around you. I know that is VERY DIFFICULT to sometimes. It takes atleast 30 days of repetition of focused good thought to make changes for the better. And depending on the 1st 7 years of your life and all the negative stuff that was fed to you ( example - money can't buy happiness ) --- or ( I'd like to buy that but it's to expensive .) You can't have ANY thoughts like that at all . Just act as if you already have what you want . Nothing is to good for you to have ,,including a GREAT LIFE. 😉 AND ALWAYS GIVE THANKS TO OUR CREATOR. And the peaneal gland that helps send out and receive good vibes can not be messed up . So no drugs , no tap water that has Floride in it . No aluminum antiperspirants, no smoking , drinks to a minimum . If you want to send out a good signal your body has to be healthy. Worldly regrets are so painful yet finish after the last beat of the heart. However, the eternal one is the worst. Those who surrendered to God's commands will regret their shortcomings and those who chose to be free and careless will discover that the worldly world lasted just a day if not part of a day. All the prophets ' mission was t invite people to surrender and submit willingly tand eagerly to God's teachings. I love you all and wish you would give the real Islam a think . People r hard t please the political systems r mear idols . Yet, Allah is easy to please. So, let not spend our precious life on others. Thanks

Good, BUT understand that some forms of depression are not 100% within our mental control. If your physical brain suffers from a chemical imbalance from within your body, you can't think yourself out of it. Therapy? Sure, it can help. But sometimes medication is just as needed to feel better as insulin is to a diabetic. Please remember that & pass it on. There are still too many fallacies about mental health out there
