The Sig Spear LT in 300 BLK. The best do It all Civilian Setup?
Вставка

- Lighter, modernized, and built to last. The Sig Sauer MCX Spear LT is, for good reason, in high demand. This .300 Blk model sports a 9 inch barrel. It was original kitted out to be as light as possible, as you may have seen in previous videos. This has now changed, as it's seemingly too good of a platform to not be treated as a #1 go to rifle. This is how we've built It out. Drop your likes or changes down below! Let us know your thoughts.

Just to clarify per User manual, the negative setting for gas valve is for SUPER suppressed and unsuppressed and the positive setting is for subsonic suppressed and SUPER unsuppressed (adverse conditions). Page 46.
Just picked up my Spear LT in 300. Now for my wallet to recover then build it out
That’s bad ass!! Love all that Sig does…didn’t think I wanted a 300blm but now I do
You don’t wan that one , overpriced
@Rorschach_theghost yea but its sick and if ya got the money, it ain't a bad choice.
Id argue it'd be one of the beat home defense / close quarters set ups due to the small and quiet nature of it but when I think of an all around package i'd want it to reach out a little further so I generally think of a 13.7/14.5 5.56. Either way a badass gun set up nicely 🔥
Agreed bro
Definitely would be a nice close quarters set up
Absolutely, 300 Blackout suppressed with a 9" Barrel? Only thing to make It better would be a shorter yet just as quiet can.
@@WatchdogTactical haha.. i went for a Full Nelson 😂 really going for as quiet as possible. what's a few inches anyway?
Just bought one today
“I’ll just do two of these… omg these are niiiice!” Rest of the mag 😂🔥
That definitely will be a SNUG fit inside a backpack, the Sig Rattle LT with the 6.5” barrel would be far easier to fit inside a backpack. Still a sweet rifle but for a dedicated “backpack” setup most would choose the Rattler LT or the older 5.5” Rattler.
The setting is for clean or dirty not suppressed or unsuppressed. According to Sig the Spear LT is designed to run suppressed so that is its normal position. The adverse setting is only for when the gun is dirty as hell which takes a lot to get to...
Cool rig man. I’d ditch the poly BUIS and buy the pros if you want them, then fold the front forward so you can shift your axon forward and buy yourself some more rail space.
If you're going to make that a backpack gun then I recommend you try out a Rattler upper. You just might prefer it.
the MCX might be the best rifle system in the world. Its hard to say weather its an improvement over the AR-15 but its DEFINITLY an improvement on the AR-18 platform which its based on.
No, XCR is
@@SpudOutdoorsnah… that’s a pure subjective opinion.
@@Goldtech6973 accurate, reliable, built like a tank. Super adjustable, actual has multi cal systems available. Very few parts. Very easy to swap calibers.
plan to grab one of these as a suppressed PDW. I have a 10mm PDW for some medium distance defense. but if noise isnt an issue, the 10mm is a problem for anything less than 100 yards
what a GREAT video bud !!
Glad you enjoyed it
I have a similar setup and love it.
Great setup!! I find I have to keep mine in the plus setting even with a can running subs. Also I run a little bit of paracord in that rear QD that goes through the lower receiver and attach my sling to that it centralizes the sling in the rear.
Dude that range is nasty... and your rifle is too
Handled one today. Front heavy as heck and gummed up after 100 rounds
Yeah sure 😂
@@trentrockwell6598 yah sure what? they are extremely imbalanced, super front heavy, and with a suppressor the whole bolt system got completely gummed up in 100 rounds. its funny you think I'm joking. Is yours magically lighter in the front?
@@AdamH-n3ltell us you dislike sig without actually saying it 😂
@@AdamH-n3lit is front heavy compared to other guns. Way more than I expected but gumming up is wierd. I've been using a sandman s on mine and I haven't had this issue.
This was funny as hell. That Samson grip is my favorite grip, the short version, but I also always forget the damn name of it. Something about that name makes it forgettable...lol
Very cool man… I just paid my extortion fee for the factory SBR (Like yours) and the Sig 300BLK suppressor. I’ll be able to experience it in about 7 months. What’s the nomenclature of the under barrel grip you run?
cool setup. Just curious why spear over the rattler?
Barrel length, furniture space and more fps. The Rattler has a 5.5", the Rattler LT comes in 6.75" or 7.75", and the Spear is 9", if I'm correct. Between about the 6 and 11.5 inch barrel lengths, every inch of barrel you add significantly increases fps for the .300 blk. Somewhere after that it drops like a turd and you're only looking at minor increases per inch. The fps gain from 5.5' to 9" is considerable and you want that for your 100m targets. The 9" with a 5" or 6" suppressor is the sweetest length imo.
You might want it as short as possible though, and it's still going to sing at 5.5".
edit: I believe the suppression will be more effective with the 9" barrel as well.
Did you direct thread the can or did you use a mounting system?
11:29 damn straight up called me out
HAHA Oh it's definitely the same over here.
I wish Sig or Midwest Industries would make a longer handguard that would extend out over the suppressor.
Whats the grain weight on the underwood. Also just a side note this man is not lying this is a very sick gun I got one and am looking into the 308 next.
Your setup is very similar to mine.
This is my dream setup. Just bought the other day and waiting for it to get out of ATF jail. Was going to go with Sandman S but I switched up and went Scythe-TI. You ever worry about heat when you’re a couple mags in? Any can sleeves you recommend to deal with the heat?
Dammit! I wish I would of brought my Sig MCX in 300 Blackout instead of 7.62x39 lol
Sweet setup.. i want to build a rifle like that.. can you tell me the specs?
The stubby grip they make would be nice
What settings do you have it on? It appears to have a lot of blow back, just got the Scythe TI for mine but haven't got the stamp back. Currently have 36M on the SBR, did you run any other cans on yours?
What charging handle are you using ? Thanks
I have this same set up
Thats weird it wasnt working for you in the (-) setting with subs. My 9" Virtus has never had an issue cycling subs with a can in the (-) setting. Maybe its just the ammo you're shooting.
You need the sig sauer suppressor to match. Less gassy too
I guess i'll just spend all my money on this build out and blk ammo
How’s the balance on this one? Front heavy like the JAKL?
what kind of flash hider you are using? cause isnt this can threaded? not qd right?
Nice review
Thanks!
I have the same setup! What suppers are your running?
Can I put like a Magpul stock? or some kind of normal looking telescopic stock on this weapon? I don't like the one it comes with.
What picatinny sling mount is that?
Sweet
how many gas setting does it have?
What are the glasses you got on?
Nice video I'll stick to my builds. I have a 10.5 geissele build working on 9" then 5.5 😊
Yeah but if you simply want something comparable without sourcing parts, assembling, tuning, then changing out some parts for more suitable parts because u tried a bad combo. 😂
That in a nutshell is why I stopped building. Ready to fire options are much better these days. Sure u may spend I bit more but the end result is a factory tested and proved firearm.
@@Goldtech6973building is simple you can buy an upper all you building is the lower how hard can that be? I love customizing my lower different colors and designs slide stops mag release buttons etc..love my rise armament trigger 3.5 and you can try different trigger, curved, flat from different companies that could be a video in its self
Man I’m indecisive on which caliber I want in the spear lt the 5.56 or the 300 blk out.
In this length definitely 300 Blk. in the 16" version 5.56 all day. 300 Blk excels at this length.
@@WatchdogTactical I think I’m ma go with the 5.56 in the 11.5 barrel length
@@darkdre7be mindful of ammo price
What backpack do you use for this does it fit in there with the suppressor on or off
I’m interested in getting a similar setup. Does the can require any mods to thread onto the spear barrel?
You have to use the correlating muzzle device for said silencer or use a company that makes their versions of major brands devices.
Just a few upgrade suggestions.
Defensive Ammo:
Supersonic - Underwood Controlled Chaos 115 Grain.
Subsonic - Underwood Maximum Expansion 194 Grain.
Optic Mount: Unity Fast Optic Riser or GBRS Hydra Mount.
Charging Handle: Radian Raptor MCX Charging
Trigger: Blackout Defense Zero Drop-in Kit
Optic: Sig Sauer Romeo 9T (but it's yet to drop but Sig dropped a video explaining how it works check it out on their channel)
You can thank me later.
Supersonic, I like VMAX 110gr or if you can find it, Barnes 110gr tac-tx. Reloading is a bit more cost effective, especially with vmax projectiles being fairly cheap as is.
Subsonics, always reloading 100%. Love Maker 220gr TREX projectiles. Pricey but worth it.
@@EvilWiffles Can the VMAX withstand the 1 in 5 twist?
you gotta tell your editor to calm down with the fake anamorphic flairs and film burns. Stuff got too distracting. Cool gun though.
Time stamp?

@@WatchdogTacticalwhat supers are you shooting?
Why not the rattler lt mcx?
We actually got one in recently. The sig collection is up to about 6-7 mcx/mpx variants. Already have the Canebrake in 300 BLK with a nomad-ti. Felt a little like copy and paste at that point.
gotta like the shorter barrel in 300 BLK. I'm waiting until I can buy the upper. Hopefully by shotshow sometime@@WatchdogTactical
Mine should ship any day now. Had to get the spear because my two best friends have the 5.5 inch rattler and the canebrake rattler between them so I had to be different lol
Why didnt you get the 6.75 inch rattler lt
@@dominiquebrown2890and wasn't out yet its cool but flow cans aren't great for subs
What range is that?
To expensive for a truck gun. Wouldn’t risk something that nice getting stolen
Your truck isn’t a holster.
It looked a little over gased when you where shooting the supers. That may be why you where having issues with the subs
Would you get this or a rattler LT in 300 aac i want one or the other but can get both rich would you get if you could only get one
Honestly they'll both do you good. It becomes more of a preference thing. We have both, set them up for different scenarios. Both equally great choices. If you like that 6.75" barrel go with the Rattler. If you want your 300 blk to have more optimal performance the Spear LT would be better suited.
@WatchdogTactical thanks I think I'll opt rattler since I got mdrx in 300 aac
Speaking for the ballers on a budget. I say you get a PSA jakl in 300 black out. Run it through its paces.you loved the Sabre who’s to say the jakl wouldn’t do the same.im writing this as you talk about getting a cheaper version 😅
Wish it came in black instead of that gold looking FDE.
Cerakote It?
@@WatchdogTactical that’s true! Also, funny enough after seeing one in person I’m on team sexy FDE now hahaha! Looks way better than black once you see it in real life. Now I’m wishing they made an FDE version available to civilians for their Rattler LT.
@songodan45 they sell the upper receivers on their website in black.
I dont think you want it as light as possible considering neither piston nor eotech is light. It's cool looking tho
A powered optic felt necessary. As light as possible would be keeping It stock with just flip ups or fixed sights. It's as light as possible for effective personal use. The rifle is what? 5.5lbs? It's significantly lighter than our BRN setups and a lot of our other Sig Builds.
Just need 300blk mags to cycle subs more reliably
Does you’re rail bend on you like others
So far, no It does not
It’s not the rail that bends, it was the barrel. Think it was only an issue with the 16” but I could be wrong.
@@BrothaGoodRepsya it was with the 16inch gun. One of my friends changed over to the 11.5 and no issues
Nope. Brownells brn180sh. Added a cherry bomb on the 10.5" barrel. Midwest folding stock. Trigger Tech Diamond AR trigger in a ultra light ambi lower. Using a We the people sling. Oh the optic is a micro prism 4x with a micro red dot on top. My 300 blkout is able to shoot with the gas off so its super quiet with the can.
One big problem though. (A lot of the guys own BRN-180s btw) You definitely can run into the Cycling issue immediately out of the box. Sometimes only on suppressed and sometimes on both settings. But do agree the BRN-180 is a solid choice
This or q hb??
It'll honestly become a toss up between barrel length and function. Honey Badger is similar to your typical AR. The Spear is a short stroke gas piston. You get a little bit more functionality out of the Spear LT with the added bolt release on the right side. They both have the same 1:5 Twist Rate. The 9inch barrel is more optimal for 300 blackout on the Spear LT. Honey Badger is shorter and lighter. If It's a pdw and you want to run Q cans (They're really good) go with the HB. If you want a more dual purpose, further distance, enhanced function rifle then go Spear LT. It's a win either way.
If you wanted small, why not get a Rattler LT?
This was bought before the Rattler LT came to market. Plus, this is still within the optimal length for .300 Blackout to perform at its best.
@@WatchdogTacticalMakes sense. Either way, great looking setup.
Of course you have to run it on the plus setting with that particular can because it's a flow thru can so yeah it definitely needs to be on the plus setting, duh..
He needs to tighten up that can. Seems like it was to screw off.
You might as well have kept it a pistol. You’re not even running the cheek piece. Sig sells the brace without the cheek piece. Absolutely makes no sense to have SBRd that if you are not going to run the cheek piece
Switch your gas block
You did.
Looked like a lot of gas was coming out of the ejection port.
Here's been my solution to suppressor gas. I've repurposed unused leftover covid masks you can find just about anywhere.
Most of these people who review the LT always hav the gas port on the wrong setting 😭😭😭, left is no suppressor and right is for suppressed
*Stop ramming plastic mags after you insert.*
That SOP was developed for steel M4/M16 STANAG mags not ABS plastic that Magpul makes their mags out of. I’ve time it will dent down until eventually the feed lips will be sit too high and induce a FTF (failure to feed) by blocking the bolt from returning forward all the way. This was most likely user, not firearm error
So much gas though
Sorry, but this suppressor and nothing are the same!
Turn your dang light off
Yikes…that looks awfully gassy!?
y'all lost most of your crediablity at shot show unfortunately
We're sorry that those feeling have come about. There was excitement about finally getting It back in our possession, knowing fully It was not able to fire (no firing pin), a finger was rested on the trigger. Basic firearms safety, again we know. Have a great day.
It looks so over gassed!
Yeah see how it’s not affecting him and how he’s not complaining.
@@Dr.marvello he will when a gun malfunctions
i'm just curious but what makes you, this video, or any of your plinking 'tactical'? is that an extra 'tactical' 50lbs you're smuggling under your 'tactical hoody? or the different 'tactical' grip on your forend every shot,(gotta keep em tactically guessing i guess)..
please mr watchdog, explain and describe your definition of 'Tactical', thank you. and thank you MEtube for continually crapping out the most in narcissistic MEgo stroking entertainment. naaaailed it!
Interesting take. There actually is no Mr. Watchdog. It's a business name for our shop. A shop where we offer everything from accessories, suppressors, custom holsters, a vast selection of arms, and much more. Nothing about this video stated anything about tactics, movement, or anything otherwise related to "tactical". It's a video about a rifle. Have a nice day!
