we have 5 or so mf lawnmowers just like this on our sale that is happening aug 12 in central illinois. my dad was a mf mechanic his whole life. we got other massey stuff. MH AND MF.
Tyler, Great collection of MF tractors. I have a 1976 MF 16 tractor that my father purchased me in 1977 when I was 12 yrs old to cut the lawn, till the garden and snowblow the driveway up in Cobden, ON. I am trying to get it running again now. Engine was blown in the 1990's, but it is in good shape as it sat in a decent shed till this summer. I purchased a used K321 engine, installed it, put in a new battery and confirmed wiring is correct with a guy that does small engine repair. But it will not start, turn the key and nothing not even a clicking sound. He took a screw driver and shorted the starter solenoid with a screwdriver and it turned over a couple of times and then stopped. He advised all he was doing was bypassing any safety switches and maybe it needs a new starter. Now it just sparks when you try to short the solenoid.I had a spare starter so I installed it and still nothing, not even a clicking sound. Have you ever come across this problem with your rebuilds? Do you know how many safety switches there are and where they are located? All I remember is it has to be in neutral and the parking park pushed down to start it. I have ordered a new starter switch, starter solenoid and 25 amp circuit breaker which should come in next week. If that doesn't work I will order a new starter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Brent
Check that there’s a ground from the motor to the frame if you bypass the solenoid and it just cuts out then that could be a issue originally it was a braided steel fat wire
@@hamiltonshomelites4489 I just ordered that part this week off of Ebay and was wondering if that could be causing the problem but then discarded the idea. BTW there is a guy on Kijiji in Thamesville, ON that has MF tractors, blowers, chains, weights and parts for sale if you need anything. This is where I got the K341 engine and extra blower from. Thank you for the information.
@@brentjeffery9786 yeah I’m going to get a engine for my other 16 but as for your make sure that there’s a ground and if it does take a test light and see if your getting power to the trigger wire when you turn the key if you do check if you have power going to the starter the same way by turning the key if you do it’s for sure a ground problem to the engine since it has rubber mounts for the engine
Hey Tyler Like your video’s. I just got a MF12 and I have no ignition key is the key switch pretty common ? Can I pickup a key or complete new switch somewhere?
