எங்கள் சமூகத்தின் நினைவுகளை மறுபடியும் பார்த மாதிரி இருக்கு.. திவொற்றியூரிலிருந்து
நீங்கள் சொல்லும் காலங்களை நான் பார்த்து இருக்கிறேன். மாட்டு காரர்களிடம் இருந்து ஆவினுக்கு மாறிய transition period மிகவும் கொடுமையானது. வண்டியில் வரும் ஆவின் பாலுக்காக முன்கூட்டியே போய் காத்திருக்க வேண்டும். பல நாட்கள் பால் வண்டி ஏதாவது ஒரு காரணத்தால் வராது. அன்று பால் சப்ளை எங்குமே இருக்காது. இடை இடையே ஆவின் பால் துர் நாற்றம் மற்றும் புழுக்களுடன் வருவது சகஜம். பால் தட்டுப்பாடு அதிகம் என்பதால் பால் பூத் காரர்கள் பிளாக்கில் கொள்ள லாபம் பார்த்து பணக்காரர்கள் ஆகி விடுவார்கள். பாக்கெட்டில் பால் வர ஆரம்பித்த பிறகு தான் சீரான ஸப்ளை துவங்கி தட்டுப்பாடு நீங்கியது. மேலும் அப்பொழுது தான் கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக பெட்டி கடைகளில் fridge வர ஆரம்பித்தது. பிறகு தான் எப்பொழுது வேண்டுமானாலும் பால் கிடைக்கும் என்ற நிலை வந்தது

இது உண்மை தான்..கன்று குட்டியை கொள்வதில்லை...கன்று குட்டியை மாடு உடன் கூட்டி வருவது சிரமம்..இளம் கன்று பயம் அறியது என்று கூறுவதுண்டு..அது பாட்டுக்கு ஏதாவது ஒரு பக்கம் சென்று விடும்..control பண்ணுவது சிரமம்..அதனால் பழைய கன்று குட்டி தோலை அந்த மாட்டின் கன்று குட்டி மேல் போட்டு அதன் வாசம் பட்டு விடும்...பிறகு கன்று குட்டியை வீட்டில் கட்டி விட்டு மாட்டை பிடித்து வருவார்கள்..கன்று குட்டியை கொள்வது என்பது கிடையாது...இது எல்லாம் ஊரிலும் நடந்தது

Yes sir. I too remember this vaikol calf. Those days it was native breed.
But now we have cross breed and they don't need calf to let down milk. I am a vet.
2006-07வாக்கில் எங்கள் வீட்டில் இருந்த கன்று ஒன்று இறந்துவிட்ட போது எங்கள் தாத்தா அதன் தோளில் வைக்கோளால் நிரப்பி மாட்டிடம் நிறுத்தி தான் பால் கறந்தார்........
It is quite true. I am from Kolar Gold Fields and have seen Vaikkol calf during 1950s when I was quite young.
As narrated by the Author, such rare sights have disappeared.

It was sheer astonishment for me in 1960 when i shifted to chennai to see this hay filled kannukutty.
