“Go opposite of woke, you get a GOTY” Dude what does “woke” even mean anymore? I guarantee you if an American studio made & promoted Black Myth Wukong, yall would be calling it woke/DEI until the end of time. I also guarantee you that Game Science didn’t give half a shit about being the “opposite of woke” when they set out to make this game. They just wanted to make a great game that paid sufficient respect to the most culturally significant story in Eastern mythology. That’s it. Stop injecting your brainrot American politics into everything, least of all a video game made by a Chinese studio.
@@fatcat22able This game has been on everyone's mind since they first showed it. It only got backlash right before it was gonna release. Other studios were nervous someone actually took their time on a game and put out an entire new thing to enjoy.
@@fatcat22able can you give an example of a western studio making a game similar to Black Myth Wukong and having it called "woke" so you can give us your guarantee? Woke is deliberate. What we saw in Game Science is literally the opposite of woke. It's like how you described it, they paid a sufficient respect to culture and made a great game out of it. Games focused on wokeness do not respect the culture, they more so twist it to make sure it is acceptable for current standards of politics where diversity and inclusion is involved
Developers are taking notes... hopefully. Tell the DEI people to kick rocks, and your game will sell pretty well. This game seems to be one of the nails in the coffin of the DEI push. Acolyte cancelation was another. We are winning, gentlemen.

i just got mine arrived today~ thats crazy! the best part is everything is made with great materials and quality, none like most game Collector editions, they sell it expensive but useing very cheap materials ... just sell to fans.... this one is expensive , but worth it~ no matter the figure or the scroll or ring ... chains... everything use good materials . thats so nice. you can tell they put a lot effort on it. BTW the figure can move around~ there are alot pictures online, that people set some pose with this figure , so cool~
even knowing he got this for free I don't think he's assessment of the game is cap, I don't think he can be that easily bought and honestly, the collectors edition looks amazing on its own.
If a couple $ for lunch means that much to him, you really think he will turn down sponsorship deals that are worth more than most people's salary? Naive. Of course the 20-30 videos on this clips channel are part of a paid marketing campaign.
I'm complete noob to action RPG and bought the game today. Spent two hours to kill first two bosses, which is better than I expected it would go, and all I can say is I'm utterly amazed at how good the game is. I've been waiting for such a game where I can first build up my confidence to enter true souls-like (Elden Ring for start and then Dark Souls) and this is it.
the art on the box, postcard from the steel book and scroll is the depiction of tang san zang (monk), wu kong, sha seng (sand bother) and zhu ba jie (pig brother) from journey to the west
This Black Myth game box opening was an adventure…a box within a box within a box…pretty cool Asmon. Put on on the jewelry and Asmon is now a Monke King…..Congratulations
I bought this game without being "gud" at ANY Soulslike game. I thought the mythology and folklore is new to me, so at least try it out with some effort. Sure, it might be taking me longer to get through the game unlike typical Soulslike veterans, maybe even have to grind a lil to stack ability points... But, I'm enjoying the game very much. It's a nice intro-like game to other less forgiving Souslike games, so it's more justified (to me) to keep trying, rather than "get gud" and die for 2 hours on ONE boss. The mythology and folklore is super interesting to me also. Just something about this game feels fresh and new, the same way I felt playing Hogwarts Legacy. I'm not rushing it though. I put in around 2-4 hours everyday usually and that keeps it fresh for me.
400$ collectors edition. Obviously thats the price of the figurine. That they actually made clothes for it also is really cool. Looks so good. Wouldn't pay 400$ maybe 200-280$ Its actually really high quality.
The Wall art is from "Journey to the West". It's basically a pro-buddhist narrative taking a jab at Taoism and Confucianism. It's considered one of the great classical fiction works of China- and is an often refrenced story for fiction throughout the east. (OG dragon ball is *full* of Journey to the West refrences, for instance.) Sun Wukong, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, represents Human ability within the story- and is one of several protagonist the story revolves around.
In my opinion, the original Journey to the West does not praise Buddhism, nor does it overwhelm Taoism. It is a satire on the ruling class. Because of this, Journey to the West was once a banned book during the Ming Dynasty. For example, in Journey to the West, why does Tang Monk want to learn scriptures? Is it because he wants to learn Buddhist scriptures? This is not the case. In the original work, the real motivation for learning scriptures is because it can ensure the eternal stability of the Tang Dynasty. And it can eliminate the sins caused by the killing when the Tang Dynasty seized power.
Would be interested to see regional dynamics of their success. This game is based on the whole monkey/wukong/journeey to to the west mythology, I wonder if the massive sales numbers are China-heavy
Few things to know: 1. The Wukong 1/6 action figure made by a company call "In-Art'. They made the most realistic high-end collectible, can range from $400 -$1000. 2. The figure is expensive not because is name brand, is because they are just that high quality. $400 for the "Collector Edition" is a steal! 3. Watch some review of "In-Art 1/6 Joker Action Figure" you can get an idea how good they are at making action figure.

I'm still kinda mad at myself for sleeping a couple minutes too long to get the CE. It sold out in like 12 minutes. I got on the computer to pre-order, as it sold out. Now if I want to get this edition, i'm looking at around $1,600.00 on Ebay. At least I got the Deluxe Edition Pre-ordered.

Some game journalists are going to be fuming if Wukong wins game of the year.
It's going to win game of the year just like God of War since it's based off of the actual myth of Sun Wukong and his War against the gods .
There is no competition, what other game will be goty? Wukong is the only great game this year
mai not win it because....china....probably...tho it deserves it entirelly, enjoying the game verry much
Nope. You have to pass the westurd censors to win goty. Its a very heavily regulated and censored competition. Inb4 elden ring - it had body type 1&2 , they took blackrocks money.
it doesnt deserve GOTY over FF7 Rebirth or Hades 2, thats why
The love that was put in Black Myth: Wukong is awesome, the developers actually respect gaming
Surprise surprise. Who would have thought that making games that people want actually works, instead of making games for "modern audience".
The modern audience is the real myth. A blacked myth, if you will.
Every time he opens a package, I feel like he is one step from the emergency room.

@19'50" That is the ancient chinese parchment. They used to draw or write on.

There's something about East Asian artistry that makes even the packaging something I would mount on my wall
Its always good to know that Asmon is on the right side of gaming history. The guy supports real developers who care about their fanbase, and in return, the dev notices and gives him free stuff to show off and promote the game even more. Anyone would be happy to promote something they truly like. The games always seem to end up being a banger the moment he supports the game due to the woke mob attacking these devs. Go opposite of woke, you get a GOTY
It's not that deep, he has enough viewers and thus influence that he's a no-brainer when it comes to sending gifts to the biggest streamers.
I've seen how he played Lies of P that's no what I'd call the right side of gaming lmao (and I'm not talking about skill issue, but specifically about giving a fuck about what you're playing)
That’s it. Stop injecting your brainrot American politics into everything, least of all a video game made by a Chinese studio.
do the Chinese know you're using their games to fuel a culture war in another country? and every big studio sends goodies to streamers dude,
@@fatcat22able This game has been on everyone's mind since they first showed it.
This reignites my ire for 'Western devs.' Game Science really out here just looking to make an honest-to-Buddha good game, and that they did. None of the cynical bs we're plagued with over here. It's a very expensive collector's edition, for sure, but it looks like they really did try to load it up with a thoughtful suite of goodies a superfan would like.
This thing has more thought and value put into it than every ubisoft, activision and bethesda premium sets in the last decade combined
60% through the game. Chapter 4. Games amazing
I love how on steam charts you can see dips in literally every game while the moment wukong released
This is legitimately the best CE I’ve seen in my life. Monke

That is a really good way to export your mythical history
I was just thinking that haha
Well to be fair, the journey to the west novel was a fantasy retelling of the actual journey undertook by a real person. Which makes this game a lot more historically solid than something like God of War
@@janusjones6519 like how GOW exported Greek and Norse mythology. I never would have thought Western Audiences would know of Jotuns and Titans, the Agoge and Spartan life and customs. The Valkyries being feared by men once again haha I’m all for it. I love all these mythologies. We all need to learn.
Honestly I couldn’t have asked for a better representation of Journey to the West. This is by far the most influential story in Chinese & East Asian culture, and as someone who has seen multiple adaptations of the original story, I’m of the opinion that this is one of the greatest tales ever told in humanity. So it makes me so happy that western audiences are finally learning about this mythology in the mainstream.
@@fatcat22able I mean sure, Journey to the West is one of the four classics, so obviously it's influential, but do you really think it's more influential than the Romance of the Three Kingdoms?
The amount of care they put into making that box alone is more effort than some other companies are currently putting into their entire games.
the painting outside the box and the post card are from ch19 in novel "journey to the west"
man, even the box is a better piece of art than any SBI games and i mean the very first box
Black Myth Donkey Kong is great

The developers of Game Science used to be staff members of Tencent's game development department in China, and also developed popular products in the market. However, due to the company's interests, they had to make changes to that game. Since then, the founder Feng Ji left Tencent and founded Game Science Studio. They have been dedicated to developing products that players love and have attracted a large number of excellent developers to join the team, ultimately giving birth to the popular game "Black Myth Wukong".

Also he's happy to see this.
Just watched a grown man fumble around a box for half an hour. Takes me back to a specific video on the hub.
Asmon: “Oh my god! Look at this. It’s huge!”
Michael Scott: “That’s what she said!”
lol
This is like watching the rich neighbor kid opening his Christmas presents when you are poor.
Hi there, I think there should be a headband in the box as that's the thing uniquely Wukong's, just like the magical staff.
I would make that box into a wall decoration
Thats actually a very decent collectors addition
"This will be a bit of a struggle, hang on guys."
If only there was a clear table or desk to set it on...
😂😂my thoughts too
Wow, the design of the box is so epic. It's a picture of Xuanzang , the monk - accompanied by his 3 disciples, ( Monkey King, Pigsy & Sandy ) ,otherwise known as "Journey to the West" So meaningful for a collector's items

the best part is everything is made with great materials and quality,
none like most game Collector editions, they sell it expensive but useing very cheap materials ... just sell to fans....
this one is expensive , but worth it~ no matter the figure or the scroll or ring ... chains... everything use good materials . thats so nice. you can tell they put a lot effort on it.
BTW
the figure can move around~ there are alot pictures online, that people set some pose with this figure , so cool~
even knowing he got this for free I don't think he's assessment of the game is cap, I don't think he can be that easily bought and honestly, the collectors edition looks amazing on its own.

Number 2 is bloody insane ! Im happy for them.
the art on the box, postcard from the steel book and scroll is the depiction of tang san zang (monk), wu kong, sha seng (sand bother) and zhu ba jie (pig brother) from journey to the west
mainstream game reviewers who did not get that box must be fuming... LMAO!
This Black Myth game box opening was an adventure…a box within a box within a box…pretty cool Asmon. Put on on the jewelry and Asmon is now a Monke King…..Congratulations
Damn its an actual articulated figure. And not a statue.
Wow, even the box is beautiful, I would put the box for display too!
Wouldn't pay 400$ maybe 200-280$
Its actually really high quality.
That really is a really nice box. Quite a nice box.
Nah it’s a sixth scale action figure you could bend the joints and have fun posing him probably interchangeable heads and hands.
Petition for Asmon's clips editor to get a collector's edition
Man, that collectors edition is so rare, only 500 pc, and the figures made by inArt
The Wall art is from "Journey to the West". It's basically a pro-buddhist narrative taking a jab at Taoism and Confucianism. It's considered one of the great classical fiction works of China- and is an often refrenced story for fiction throughout the east. (OG dragon ball is *full* of Journey to the West refrences, for instance.)
Sun Wukong, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, represents Human ability within the story- and is one of several protagonist the story revolves around.
In the original Journey to the West, Buddha made a big plan in order to spread Buddhism to the Tang Dynasty.
Now THATS a Collectors Edition! 👏

just the collectors edition is already worth 500 US dollars. So its a win for Asmon to have bought and supported the game.
Wait.. so... the collectors edition actually has valuable collectibles in a decent quality? Wtf?
Few things to know:
What i love is Woke loses again just like with Hogwarts legacy.
