In my experience the best method is basic water. In less than 10 weeks you have way bigger and healthier roots. I’ve tried different methods leca, sphagnum, perlite, soil and water is always winner winner chicken dinner.

You must have good water! I’m doing an Njoy at the moment in water and perlite and the water ones are taking ages. My monsteras did get big roots quick in water though. Must depend on the plant.

i really need to try perlite boxes. they just look so handy to use. having all those jars and bottles around with water, changing it and for some reason...every water bottle is either to large or too small so your plant is too much under water or not enough or it just... i dont know, its hard to manage. perlite gives it some foundation to sit in and you have a greenhouse around it too.

So maybe you have given me the reason my pothos cuttings have not grown. I propagated in water where I got good roots and then transplanted in soil. The cuttings remained healthy but no new leaves have grown. I did notice the roots just got really long, poking through bottom of the pot.

I have an unusual question. My Golden Pothos is growing well in a vase. This morning I went to change the water and discovered four tiny tadpole-like-creatures swimming around the roots. No legs, just thin grayish things, full of energy. So I held off the water changing. Any ideas? The stem cuttings weren't in contact with the soil.

Or too much water and not enough oxygen, try adding a few drops (3-4) 3% peroxide to the water in the perlite. Ideally your perlite should be wet, with the waterlevel well below the rooting depth. Otherwise you drown the cuttings.
