Amazing video yet again Sam well done to Oliver fixing the tractor i was never good at mechanics more a stock man , good idea get some sheep of your own nice if you could breed some show winning tups to use or sell let’s watch this space good luck
Your kids are amazing, full of fun as it should be,you and Oliver are a team and i love the way you are down to earth about the trials of farming nowadays,it,s not easy and you are working so hard to make a living.xx
Yes you should be rightfully proud on your achievements, and you both have built up great value in livestock , machinery , skills and a down to earth joyful children . And as we Irish say if it was an 'easy ride, every asshole would be at it ' .Well done team.
Another great video SAM, you and Oliver are a great team. Teamwork makes the dreams work. It's like watching the 'New' young yorkshire shepherdess. Lolx
Sam, get your sheep! You deserve them!! Good video, your children are funny, Lily a bit of a dare devil … in a good way. I like Oliver~ I see a side of him that is kind. But truly only matters that you like him! Shelia is adorable and getting bigger, as you do!
@RonaldMunn-l8s yes would love to breed some tips amd show some long way yet but I always had a few of my own at my grandma's and when I sold them when we came hear I topped market on way out 🤣 always spent my little money I save on business so going to try get a few of my own 🥰
Hi Sam you do very well with what you have keep going the way you are you are both hard workers it will all come to plan in the end just keep the video coming 😊
Another great video Sam, And I naa knew you was at Hawes, A lovely part of the Dales. I was Charlie Paynes Herdsmsn for 10 years at Paynes Dairies in Ripon. Im back home now since dad died. I thought you was near our place with you always being at Bentham Mart.. See you on the next one Sam
Again Sam ( never let it be said with me) credit where credit is due, Well done Oliver, that's no easy task stripping down and rebuilding a tractor like that, let us know if it did the trick !! Also Sam, don't feel you have to explain ANYTHING about Oliver, he is a lot like me and some friends of mine ( what you see is what you get and certainly says it how it is) and yes, ONLY your opinion matters, but please don't also forget that WE are in YOUR world and WE must understand your pressures too ie/ the tractor could have cost you £1,000 so any one of you two may have genuine business worries at any time and WE should respect that when we post comments.. thanks again for the great content, your viewer numbers are still going up great too. Thanks to the WHOLE FAMILY.. 😊
@stephenwright3094 I'm glad you can relate to him, best way to be I think 😉😄thankyou yes he's let me, let you, into our lives, so that's a big thing for him to do. A lot of farmers like to keep private wich is fair enough. Yes, I'm glad they are interesting enough for the views 🤣🤣 wahooo
Hi Sam, you certainly have some variety to your day, Oliver turns his hand to anything, credit to him. . Paying other people to do a job. . Nope... Your doing a great job Sam, well proud of you 😊
Sam Would you consider finishing a few lambs true a abattoir .. and marketing it your self If you could get financial support to start you off it would remove the risk .. you could be the Bernard manning of hill lamb Any way best wishes and god bless 😊 as for Oliver he’s a man’s man no bull shit just to the point like it or lump it and he’s lucky to have a good woman
Sam I would love to see the maths of how the suckler cows pay for themselves, it strikes me that in an upland farm there's so many more inputs going in (and losses when things go bad) whereas your sheep system looks really sound. All that silage ground could be grazed so you'd need not sell ewes with lambs at foot after you've done all the hard work of getting them alive and on the ground. No straw bill, no fert, less fire-brigade vet bills, less winter work, less infrastructure damage, more time contracting. But keep up the good work, it's helping educate loads of people about the hardships of the job 👌🏼
Yes cattle aren't the biggest profitable income we have but they aren't as time consuming compared to sheep, we love the cows and selling the store cattle. The good thing is cows eat what sheep don't so no grazing is wasted, We used to have B & B pigs and we earnt the same with pigs as cattle, yet pigs were regular income every 9 weeks were as cattle is once a year but we do like the cows, and they both go hand in hand. Thanks for the comment.
Hi Sam, what you are achieving is remarkable , with a little help from Oliver, sorry big help. If you have been together for 16 years, of which which 6 is on the tenant farm. How did you both gain the knowledge an experience . You an your family are amazing. Whats the name of your quiet daughter, Lily a real tomboy lass. all of you take care. God bless.
@philtorr-vo5lj lilly is like what i was like 🤣 a reet tomboy nancy is the quite one. Awh thankyou we do try !. We both from farming backgrounds, olivers father farmed but brought himself up. And my childhood is on my grandma's and grandads dairys farm. Untill that came to a stop then went from there 💪💪
such complicated things now tractors are.......nothing is simple anymore. just a thought...... if you castrated your bull calves there wouldn't be the need to house them so early. i know they grow quicker when there not castrated but is the extra cost of housing them for longer outweighing what you gain by not castrating them

I think Oliver is a great guy. He's his own man with a super dry sense of humour, loves his kids and obviously you.

Hopefully there are good priced Cheviots at Lockerbie for you to buy. Having your own flock to work with would be great.
Oliver some man to strip a tractor ❤
Hope he found the issues
Sam your a hard worker inside and outside to
When the land owner gets the gov payments it's only the animals sale prices that you have to live off and all the bills
@davidkellet1006 yes correct so it's a big deal for us 🤣 then again we are used to it unlike the farmers that get it.
Hello Sam, next time put ice on the gum until it gets hard and it will brake away from the hair, without having to cut.

If doing a job like that on the tractor again please protect yourself and your family by putting appropriate blocks under the axle. Safety first
