Very informative presentation.... was this work ever initiated?? I am just watching this (meaning Aug. 2018) and Umar is now a designated MNA under PTI...resolving the energy issue is critical not only for Pakistan’s economic development but also its security....Projects such as these must get implemented on priority basis, putting all politics aside.
i am an engineer ... i dont know if you are yourself or not .. but i must say you knowledge about solar energy is really unrealistic .... Coal is the cheapest way of energy after hydro ..... Solar is clean (although in making solar cells alot of contamination of the enevironemtn occures )...but is not cheap yet....
You have to see the investment cost, solar is one of the most expensive sources of electricity in the world, as a poor nation, it is out of our reach to go for solar, (the most expensive thing in solar is the battery) and moreover, maintenance is also high. (not for replacing the solar panels, but to make them dust free to keep their efficiency at max) study the practical article of investment vs the output of the power resources before coming to conclusion,
Well, I don't understand why he puts money in Coal-projects, whereas Solar photovoltaics or Solar energy such as solarheizkraftwerk (solar heat generators) much environment friendly and cheap... First, change the country system... it is not to try hard, it is due to an efficient, system.. you MUST take the example of a country's law which is economically stronger than Pakitan, such as Germany and possess a strong system of the very basic rights.
Crazy talk. Pakistan should invest in solar instead of coal. The negative health effects of pollution on the people of Pakistan will end up costing more to the loss in productivity then the benefit of the incremental increase of GDP. Instead of buying jets from China. They should install solar energy plants in Baluchistan.
Using solar panel may seem good, bit check its potential and space required at industrial scale. Solar panel is good for house it can't support heavy industries
Plant trees and use coal plant, use water desalination from ocean through sun heat, to support your trees in deart, that's how you can make Asian subcontinent a better place, since we are Subtropical region, and your destruction is destruction of Asian subcontinent

Wasif Sindhi bro i agree with you. I think they will use coal for a short-term purpose and then use solar energy

Agar ap sikraip kabar ko kantrol karen to sab ka rait khud bakhud necay a jayega
It is foolish for Pakistan to focus on coal and lignite, when global warming in increasing.
