Casting a 10+ year old flask - Secondary Burnout

  • This flask has been kicking around our studio for the last 10+ years and is even older than that. Not even sure what investment was used. But with all that we still managed to get something out of the flask.

      If only we had gotten a better seal on the vacuum! But I guess that's what we get for leaving that poor flask on top of the kiln for the last 2yrs and in storage before that.
      At least it's proof that leaving your burned out flasks alone isn't a huge deal so long as you treat them gently.

      I'm surprised you guys don't have a centrifuge for casting. IMO it works better than vacuum casting.

      We did have a centrifuge years ago. We usually do 4x6" flasks, haven't done a small flask like this in 2+yrs, so vacuum is just an easier workflow for us.
