I'm unclear on why there was a need to run a second wire. As best I understand it the strobe function is integral to the SkyBeacon and SkySensor units themselves, and as such are free-standing and don't need separate wires: it’s still a plug-and-play situation, of just replacing one’s old nav light assemblies and installing these new guys -with just the existing wiring (power and ground). Is that not the situation?
Since you already have the AV30s in your panel you are a good candidate for a tailbeaconX. Have that combination in my 150. So far, so good.

Strobe wiring is not required for the unit to function. Some airplanes like mine never had strobe wiring ran. I decided to add it to mine
