- First video of my 3 parts Bangkok adventure! We visited Phed Mark, which is @MarkWiens restaurant over in Thailand. (coming to Singapore real soon)
This restaurant specialize in pad kra pow - which is one of the most iconic Thai comfort dishes which I believe most of you guys are already familiar with.
They have a couple of spices levels for you to choose from, ranging from 1 to 5 being the spiciest, as well as a bunch protein options from the typical pork & chicken all the way to wagyu and even a vegan option which is actually my favorite. Hi Mark, I just tried it last month when I was there… please keep the duck eggs when you bring it to SG and when I had my first beef kaprow… and it was the bomb for me, Kruup…hope to see Phed Mark tee Singapore…
This collab video is so amazing..... Mark and Ying are some of the nicest and most welcoming people I ever watch on UA-cam. I have been watching Mark's videos for the longest time since his channel started.
I hope I can go to their restaurant in Thailand in the future after my studies, I am a huge fan of very spicy food, probably not at the same level as Mark.
Mark's restaurant food looks very affordable. When I start traveling again would definitely head to Phed Mark.

tried it when i went there few weeks back, and it was soooo good! those amazing fried duck eggs too were perfect! having level 4 was no joke already, can't imagine 5 lol.

Ive been here around 3 years ago and its the best kaprow ive ever had. Ive tried both level 2 & 3 and as a korean level 3 was a good spice level but i think level 2 was more enjoyable. Beef was good but I definitely enjoyed pork more

I was at Phed Mark in July and I had level 5. My mouth was OK with it, but the stomach was protesting afterwards. But it was a nice and tasty challenge!
just had this again couple of weeks back, its soooo good, absolutely a MUST EAT in bangkok!
I've seen vids of people trying one bowl of level 4 or whatever from Mark's restaurant and they can't even finish it. Zermatt that was intense! Also so cool to see you and Mark and Ying all in one video.

Before lockdown I met him at Wanglang market. He was filming for a program and his friend saw me wearing his tshirt. Nice guy. I also ate at his restaurant the day before when I arrived at BKK from Pattaya. I'm glad he's opening a restaurant in SG. I highly recommend to try it especially if you LOVE spicy food!

What a wonderful platter of delicious food at Mark Wiens' restaurant - the food there must be very delicious and fresh. Nice to see Mark and his wife Ying at the restaurant too. Would be nice to see another Mark Wiens restaurant that maybe could specialize in devilled eggs - both hot & cold. And vegan devilled eggs - rice balls maybe filled with avocado & chilis. I applaud your level 3 & 5 heat challenge, you did well.

I'm someone who easily eats bird eye chillis without much problem, but will never go beyond mid-level spicy in food places like this because I know they mean it. Haha!

The sour fermented sausage, vietnamese also called it Nem, but we say Nem Chua. Means sour sausage. Very similar!

Spice is relative. I just arrived in Bangkok, checked that they were going to close for like 5 days Songkran so had no choice but to leg it there before they closed for the day. Waited 1 hour because seemingly half the tourists in Bangkok were lined up there.
Ordered the wagyu shank cos all pork was sold out. Level 4/5 spice. Was extremely spicy bordering on a WW1 chemical weapon but managed to quaff it down. Didn’t need to bother trying 5/5 cos I saw someone eating it and it looked like torture. In retrospect if you have good spice tolerance just go for 3/5 it will be plenty spicy enough. Very delicious, would recommend 👍

I have been growing Krapow for this dish for 38 years. I have a purple-tinged variety with lavender color flowers and a green variety with white flowers. The purple variety turns more purple as the weather cools. I prefer the purple type. Which variety is the official "Holy Basil" One chef told me my white flower variety was Horoprow or some name like that?
