Side note on Scandal . The drummer at the time of The Warrior Thommy Price would go on to play drums for Billy Idol (Rebel Yell) then the long time drummer for Joan Jett starting with ( I Hate Myself For Loving You)

If anyone deserves to be named, it is Jan Kuehnemund. Or did he just take the coward's way out because he couldn't pronounce her last name?!
Went to see them in a small club in NYC circa 1990 when black motorcycle jackets with zippers and buttons and a pocket especially for cigarettes. Club got hot and sweaty with everyone dancing around. Everyone with a new jacket had purple arms from the dye. 😂
I enjoyed the trip down memory lane and it was informative but Cutting Crew, Vixen, and Simple Minds weren't one-hit wonders. Vixen actually had a decent amount of success and they don't get nearly enough credit.
Don't know about other countries but Cutting Crew had 3 hits here in the US. "I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight", "I've Been in Love Before" and "One For The Mockingbird".
“I just died in your arms, tonight “ was played at my senior prom. Always brings back great memories. I remember all of these songs. 😂. Great job and video.
What does just died in your arms tonight mean? orgasm The words "I just died in your arms tonight" allegedly came to Van Eede while he was having sex with his girlfriend, the French phrase la petite mort, or "the little death", being a metaphor for orgasm.
Soundblaster cards in PCs allowed some of us to digitize the better preserved cassettes to MP3; the Columbia House CD memberships solved that problem in the 90's
Cutting Crew was not a one hit wonder: they also had a hit with the song I've Been In Love Before which peaked at #9 on the US Billboard 100 back in 1986.
Patty Smyth later married tennis player John McEnroe. I think she is the only hard enough to keep him in line. LOL Call to Heaven (cover of Les Morts Dansant) and Downtown Train are my favorites.
Most people in the U.S. would consider a single that cracked the Top Forty a "hit." Quarterflash had three Top Forty hits in the U.S. Simple Minds had four Top Forty hits. Cutting Crew had three. I'd rethink some of this list.
No way you could call Simple Minds one hit wonders... they had a huge number of hits, Belfast Child, Promised you a miracle, alive and kicking, love song, See the lights, glittering prize, and Waterfront.
Regarding Vixen, in 2012 the classic lineup (Jan Kuehnemund, Roxy Petrucci, Janet Gardner and Share Pederson) were planning a reunion and before the announcement could be made in January 2013, founding member and lead guitarist Jan Kuehnemund was diagnosed with cancer. The band delayed the announcement so Jan could get treatment and recover. Sadly it didn't happen, and she passed away from the cancer in October of 2013. The surviving three (with Gina Stile on guitar) decided to carry on with Vixen in honor of Jan. Simple Minds initially didn't want to record Don't You Forget About Me since they didn't write the song.
Vixen was by far a major rock force to be reckoned with. Super playing, songs, and vocals. Their first album knocked it out of the park. Your idea of one-hit wonders is questionable at best and subjective at worst.

Alive and kickin went to number 2 which makes it a hit too. 20 plus top 20 albums on the uk album chart with 5 number one albums and 60 million album sales
Sanctify yourself was top twenty, alive and kicking top ten, all the things she said top 20, don’t you forget about me of course top 3, promised you a miracle top 40. Really weak on the uploader to do this without checking.
Started college in 1978. 1980s included my college graduation and completing my army ROTC and receiving my officers' commission, getting sent to Fort Harrison where i met the love of my life. But it wasnt meant to be. But the songs take me back.
aha! take me to heart was the other song I could never remember the title for; I remembered it also had "heart" in it but haven't heard the song in quite a while; it had an almost identical beat to harden my heart
Quarter Flash played at my high school. It looked like they were going to flop. No one was standing in front of the stage until I dragged my GF out to watch them. Shortly there after the floor filled with kids and we all had a great time. I was truly surprised they never became a huge hit. They were pretty damn good for the time.
Tommy Tutone: "Angel Say No" hit #38 before "867-5309" in the US (and "Cheap Date" got airplay). Quarterflash: "Goodbye To You" hit #16. Scandal: Had several hits, highest beside this one being "Hands Tied" and "Beat Of A Heart" both reaching #41, though my favorite was "Goodbye To You" (#65). Simple Minds: "Alive And Kicking" hit #2 so do NOT call Jim Kerr a one-hit wonder!! Soft Cell: Lots of hits elsewhere than the States, but if you're only counting America... Thomas Dolby: Lots of hits in the UK, and in the States hit #62 with "Hyperactive" in the States, plus "Europa and the Pirate Twins" got to #67. So the question is not "do you remember these songs that still get airplay?" but "do you remember their other songs?"
Thank you so much for not doing like so many other 1 Hit wonder Videos and Putting Rick Springfield in the List. He just turned 74 and has a brand new album out called AUTOMATIC AND IT ROCK'S 👍
Scandal might have been a main stream 1 hit wonder but they were big in the Philly/NY area. They had a big local hit with Goodbye to You. They also used to do commercials for a soda company called Frank's which was legendary in this area. Fun Fact: Jon Bon Jovi was a member of Scandal for a spell.
These are actually considered “oldies” now. When I was in my teens, in the 80’s, the music my parents grew up to, the 40’s & 50’s, was on the oldies station. I’m in my 40’s now, like they were then and the 70’s and 80’s are on the oldies channel. Wow!!!!!
the greatest decade, even in 1989, we still listened to 1970's.. back then, good music was good music, no matter year or genre my mom was Motown styled R&B, and Classic Country, my dad 70's rock..
❤❤❤ I do too. I think you're confusing Janet Gardner and Jan Kuehnamenn- Jan died of breast cancer in 2013, and Janet Gardner is a Dental hygienist......I love them too😅
@@user-ty2xv6xw8j I know who Janet Gardner is she was on my walls as a teen...and I knew it was breast cancer....I don't remember hearing of the other one
Actually, Scottish rock band Simple Minds "have achieved 24 top 40 singles on the UK Singles Chart, including eight top 10 and one number one, and 26 albums on the UK Albums Chart, including 22 top 40 albums, 12 top 10 albums and five number one albums" according to Wikipedia. Just because a band is a 'one hit wonder' in the USA doesn't mean they are a 'one hit wonder' elsewhere.
Scandal's The Warrior is played a lot at work, but the line "Your eyes touch me physically" has always driven me so crazy. I mean, I cant ever avoid picturing someone pressing their eyeball against someone's skin...such a weird lyric! 😂
I dug ALL these songs!! One-hit, or not: THEY WERE AWESOME!! Thanks for sharing! ❤
You got it buddy!😊
I'm not sure if Simple Minds qualifies as a one hit wonder, Alive and Kicking and Sanctify Yourself were both top 20 songs in the US.
I agree, they don't qualify.
That single WAS NOT on their massive Once Upon a Time album.....on purpose! A stand-alone single.
@@markwilliamson4834 Doesn't matter. A hit is a hit and no doubt that Simple Minds is NOT a one hit wonder.
I couldn’t stand simple minds but they certainly weren’t one big wonders, unfortunately 😅
I totally agree. They also got air play with “Promised you a miracle “ and “Speed your love to me”.
Goodbye To You was an amazing song by Scandal and should be considered a hit.
Beat of a Heart was also hit.
I agree since it reached #5 on Billboards Album Rock Playlist.

Shortly there after the floor filled with kids and we all had a great time. I was truly surprised they never became a huge hit. They were pretty damn good for the time.
Vixen's first 2 albums we're great!
This was really good.
Quarterflash had 2 additional Top 20 pop hits in "Find Another Fool" and "Take Me To Heart" - both very forgotten.
Scandal, NOT Quarterflash, recorded "Goodbye To You." The #16 Quarterflash hit you're referring to is actually "Find Another Fool."
Thank you so much for not doing like so many other 1 Hit wonder Videos and Putting Rick Springfield in the List. He just turned 74 and has a brand new album out called AUTOMATIC AND IT ROCK'S 👍
I also love The Snake King. True Rick chick here.
@@kris10davis72 hello
Survivor is another often mistaken for a one-hit wonder. A Flock Of Seagulls, too.
@@kris10davis72 hello Kris, I have been an RS fan since the summer of 78, love his music lyrics are so amazing.
Tao was a really good album; celebrate youth was my fav. song, but my father's chair was a tear-jerker
Don't You Forget About Me, incompasses the 80s
All these bands got lots of L.A. airplay...film soundtracks and defined a generation💕🎶🎶
WE LOVE YOU JON!!!
Scandal also had top 40 hits with Goodbye To You and Beat Of A Heart!!
These are actually considered “oldies” now. When I was in my teens, in the 80’s, the music my parents grew up to, the 40’s & 50’s, was on the oldies station. I’m in my 40’s now, like they were then and the 70’s and 80’s are on the oldies channel. Wow!!!!!
In addition to the 90's. We are getting up there.
Dolby walked into the rental office where I worked near Hollywood and Vine...so cool 😎
Hell, 90's is considered classic rock..😂
Wasn’t Scandal’s Goodbye To You a hit as well? That was a pretty big song for them too
Kid had a few hits including Cold Blood!
MTV doesn't count. DCYE is their only Hot 100 pop hit. "Cold Blood" didn't even make the Billboard album rock chart.
The 1980s is by far the greatest music decade bar none. We might be old now, but everyone wishes they were part of rhe 80s.
Great content! Takes me back to high school! Thanks!
Cold blood was also a top 20 hit for Kix....
LOL No
the greatest decade, even in 1989, we still listened to 1970's.. back then, good music was good music, no matter year or genre
my mom was Motown styled R&B, and Classic Country, my dad 70's rock..
I'm a Proud 80s kid but I've never heard of Vixen!?🤷♂️🤔
They are really good 👍 you should check them out.....maybe you will remember some of the songs. It's worth it. 😅
U must not have liked rock music or lived in a seriously small town
@@bob_greene small town
@@jarellano1014 Try listening to Edge of a Broken Heart, or Cryin'.
Vixen for sure had more than one hit....I have all their albums.....I LOVED them....rest in peace janet gardner❤
@@NovemberRain-1975 Jan Kuehmann was their guitar player.
Some of these groups are more big hit wonders, since they stayed together.
