......and breathe. Amazing overview. If I had made just one thing I'd be happy! Two machines broke this year. Instead of completing new makes, I bought 3 new machines. The new sewing machine I dithered over for four months deciding is a Bernina....this is so ultra modern after a 47 year old Frister Rossmann that it took me a fortnight to take it out of the box. I tripped to London twice for little workshops on this. Just as I completed those and felt a bit more confident, I had to go and work elsewhere due to a family crisis. Amazed by your diligence and energies to accomplish so many goals... Resolutions forming anew to accomplish at least one project a month 2024. That would book me out until about 2026 with all my UFOs. Well done....and I hope you come to England again soon.
My big sewing accomplishment for the year was a completely hand-sewn 1780s outfit (stays, chemise, jacket, fichu, petticoat, and garters). I didn't get it done in time for the original event I planned to wear it to, but it dazzled at a Halloween party. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the slower process of hand sewing, so my goal for 2024 is to pick a different era and make another outfit.
Updated plans video soner than later, but don't kill yourself doing it. This year was largely a dud for me, I got nothing new sewn, HOWEVER, I did manage to get several mends and alterations out of my hair. It was a tremendous relief. Happy New Year!!!!
Actually, partly inspired by you, I bought an American Girl doll who needed some TLC and have slowly started sewing for her using scraps and second-hand fabric. I want it to be a true feel-good hobby for me. Thank you for your videos! ✨
That is fantastic. I love giving AG dolls a new lease on life and sewing doll clothes is so relaxing and fulfilling. The AG community would love to see your designs posted.
You made A LOT of things & several of your dresses take a lot of time & besides doing your UA-cam job you were doing theater, dress outings, & the Cons! That's a whole lot more than most people do, more fun than I had for sure, I can't think of one project I did this year. It's like you never really take breaks. We would all still be here if you did. Wishing you a great new year with many adventures!
I made two costumes this year. An 1870s ensemble and a dragon costume. That's pretty good for me. I also finished some other non-sewing craft projects. I'm happy with that, I can't imagine completing the amount of garments you made. You really did a lot!
I made a ridiculous, extravagant, evening ensemble for my great-niece's American Girl. The bodice beading took ages. It included a tiara, handbag, and bracelet. Because she is in the 4th grade now, I did not know if it would be something she really liked. and.... I Won Christmas! She loved it! It is going to be her doll's dress at the Young Ladies and Favorite Dolls tea party in January. I was soooooo happy.
You still did a lot of projects this year. I hope next year I can start a sewing project and I can support you on Patreon. This year I'm just happy I'm still here. This has been a really rough year. I almost graduated with honors with a Logistics certificate and a Management associates. At 32(turning 33) I finally started my bachelor's degree. Losing my favorite Aunt(dad's sister) and my favorite Uncle(mom's brother), having to have a major surgery and still trying to get my new medication at the right dose, has made this year very difficult. But I'm thankful to have survived this year. Your videos have been the highlight of my year. Thank you for being you and sharing your historical costumes and cosplay journey. I hope you and everyone here has a Happy and Prosperous New Year!!!
well scripted overview. It brought back good memories watching your videos on Tuesdays. I would like a plan recap. Itis never to soon to reassess. Thanks for all you do. 🤩
I loved seeing all the fashions again!!😍😍 Oh, I want to see that bustle dress finished! I'm so anxious. The planner..hmm. well, I can either see it sooner or later.😊😊 Thank you for a great year!! Looking forward to another great year with seeing all the beautiful dresses and things you create for us. Wishing you an early Happy New Year!!❤
I started off following my plan for 2023: new 16th century farthingale, new Regency shift, upcycling an 18th century petticoat into a sacque-back jacket. Then as I got a few more museum gigs booked (for my costumed talks), I veered off into unplanned projects: re-trimming 2 1860s gowns and making a spoon bonnet. I got back on track by making 2 kirtles as part of my PhD research. When I finished those I made a (planned) Regency short pelisse, and a 1790s jacket. I changed track and made an unplanned Regency swim shift and lacy cap to complete my wardrobe for the Jane Austen festival in September, and even recovered a plastic parasol with silk that matched my bonnet and reticule. Then I took a (totally unplanned) break for 3 months, only making 3 reticules, and in December I just finished a 1797 Tidens Tøj gown that I bought the fabric for on impulse in Bath. So roughly half (?) of my projects were unplanned, but that's how it goes. As long as some things are done by certain deadlines, I sew as the spirit moves me.
I love your channel! At 51, im moving into every day costuming. I started out with prariewear in 2022, and in 2023 I fell face first into RenFaire for the everyday. Channels like yours are teaching me so much as I learn to alter clothing. I bought a sewing machine this year, but it's not out of the box yet.
Among other things, I made my first historically accurate article of clothing! It was an 18th century petticoat. I was able to wear it for several historical re-enactments that I volunteered in!
That is a huge list! I'm not worried about the plans video. When you feel like it is the perfect time! Don't stress yourself out about it or your schedule! We enjoy your videos and want you healthy to continue. That means you get time off when ever you need it. You should block anyone who thinks otherwise!!! I didn't get as much sewing as I would have liked to. Things were chaos this year which hopefully will be figured out soon! Hoping you had a wonderful Christmas and will have a spectacular new year!
Hi long time lurker on your channel but I just wanted to say that I watch everything and anything you put out. You constantly inspire and accompany me as I get things done whether that be crafting projects or household tasks. Thank you for helping keep me motivated these last few years and for sharing your knowledge so cheerfully with us all.
Happy New Year! I used so much from your videos-not just information, but your confidence in being able to sort out frustrations-to make a dress for my niece’s wedding. I had McCall’s M5972, but I had to size it up and fit the mock up alone; I channeled you a lot! I love the dress. Many thanks for your help and inspiration!
I'm honestly just happy to have a weekly video from you, and would rather you take care of yourself and not rush things if they're fighting you. As for my own projects... I had a project that I started earlier this year, but wasn't able to finish because a family member had a health situation crop up toward the end of the year, and I've been helping with that. So my one big costume project is currently sitting and waiting for me to get back to it (Just need to paint things and make a wrap skirt, and do final details on things)
I’m new to seeing your channel and I’m so amazed at the projects you’ve created in 2023. They’re all beautiful. I love the idea of creating a way to record/collect/review what is accomplished in a year and will work on something like that for 2024, although I don’t think I’ll have as many to share. I love a cosplay costume I finished with my daughter this year and some American girl dresses. I guess I’ll have to revisit my photos to reflect on my list of accomplishments. Thank you for sharing.
Wow! That was an amazing busy year full of beautiful designs. This year we joined a civil war reenactment group, so we had to make some new clothes :) . We didn't get our undergarments done, but my daughter made a wrapper dress from laughing moon, and I made a gathered front dress - although after wearing it, I think I am going to remake the bodice to a fitted style - after I make a proper corset. We did most of our sewing this December when I got the bright idea to make the Christmas season even more crazy and have my daughter do an advent sewing challenge. I got quarter yards of fabric, and she got to sew one American Girl doll dress each day. We almost made it. We still have 5 to go, but 19 dresses in the month of december isn't half bad if you ask me😊. She uploaded making of videos of the first 10 or so dresses, and we still have to edit the other videos and upload. All in all though, very productive.
I share your sentiments of always feeling like I didn't make much until I go look over my year of review ! I would love to see a 24 make video from you and your plans ! Happy New Year's!
You still accomplished a lot this year, you should be very proud. Plus, it was a lot of complicated ones, I bet you learned a lot from everything you did. I still haven't touched my sewing, but I did make our Christmas lasagna and sauce all by myself this year, so that is an accomplishment, lol.
My only sewing project this year was rearranging a sarong so that I could wear it to work. My biggest proud achievement of the year was knitting a sweater for myself, start to finish in ten days. (No small achievement as it was oversized and I usually wear a 2 or 3xl)
I made 2 dresses and up sized them from commercial patterns. I also took a long vest pattern and made a dress out of it. It didn't get done before I gave birth like I wanted but I just did corset embellishments that I was going to add post pregnancy anyway. I made jeans for myself and I'm homing to make 2 more in early January. I still have to adjust my pattern because it came out huge. I was about to start the mock-up for my first historical dress in April/May when I popped big. I felt better because I looked pregnant instead of just like I gained 20. I'm back to my pre pregnancy squishy so I think it'll be my first project with trying to work on my first 1860's corset.
I finished two dresses for both my girls with a pegasus constellation embroidery on it it was in memory of my late husband who passed away in early January, his friend bought him a star in the pegasus constellation
Late to watching this but I'm so thrilled with my sewing last year. I made a teuta matoshi inspired strawberry dress but my proudest project is i costumed r&h Cinderella including making a ton of the costumes from scratch.
I'm doing my second project for 2023. I can now sit up for a few hours without major pain. I should have the jeans done by January 1st. I did buy several different yardages of fabric in anticipation of getting my life back and no longer being a bed cripple. I have a 1960s cigarette pants with matching blouse planned in black and white gingham silk. That will be my sole vintage/historical project in the upcoming year. The rest will be useful skirts, dresses and tops for ordinary wear.
Glad that you feel better!❤ sewing is my hobby too and I can't imagine not having it as a stress outlet. Creating beautiful clothes with your own hands is making you feel joy AND saves a ton of money!🥰
What a great review of 2023. I love your videos, they are so inspiring. Take a breather, u deserve it. Whatever u do in 2024 will be amazing! Happy New Year🎉❤
Happy New Year! Thank you for such inspiring videos! My sewing journey really reached its stride this year. (I taught myself to sew starting in January 2023), and thanks to your videos, my confidence has grown by leaps and bounds! This year I have made a Halloween walkaway dress (using your video as a guide), a Halloween shirt dress, a 50’s inspired sundress (again using Halloween fabrics- see the trend here? LOL), a Queens Gambit jumper (ahem- again using a Halloween plaid). I also made a button down blouse, and a plaid pinafore ala Rachel Maksy and Pride and Prejudice. For Christmas gifts, I made three night gowns using using Christmas flannels and a coordinated kitchen set in black buffalo plaid. I really feel you have been a tremendous motivation for me and look forward to learning so much more from you! Thank you and cheers to a successful and fun 2024!
My sewing machine of 11 years broke in May which delayed a bunch of projects until I ended up caving and borrowing one from a friend for the six ish months mine was being fixed (Combo of the needed part being on back order and shipping delays were the reason for the LONG wait). And of course I get mine back right before xmas and I go away for 3 weeks. Managed to get four bigger sewing projects out. With the one I'm most proud of being my strawberry regency project which was a dress, matching reticule, bonnet, belt and spencer set. Aimed to have it ready by cherry blossom season - but due to a shipping delay - the bonnet and belt fabric didn't arrive until after so I lost motivation until november where a monthly challenge one of the communities I'm in gave me the push I needed to finish it. But I got more costuming goals achieved than I thought which is nice though First six months of 2024 means finishing off 2 projects I started this year but didn't finish due to not being able to figure out buttonholes on the borrowed machine as well tackling a coat for Elliott from stardew valley. Hoping to tackle Regency Snow white before the third season of a certain series releases but will have to see how much time I have as I have a performance in march, and am basically away for 2 weeks due to visiting family and another performance in april which means my sewing time is going to be cut quite dramatically. Otherwise hopefully gonna tackle one of my own designs for a gingerbread witch gunnesax inspired outfit but that's aiming for september/october.

I need to get brave and make some pants for myself. Did you love your name growing up or did you want to be named something else. Tbh, I'm not sure I've ever thought about if I like my name or not! When I was little I did tell my parents to stop calling me Becca though!
@@LadyRebeccaFashions There is only 1 person that calls me Becca, and we have been friends since the second grade.
I have a friend who's daughter (born long before I knew her) is named Rebecca and we just call each other Me.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hope scope did video all American girls dolls made. Will you might recreate them all🎉. 🎉
I feel like I have nearly as many! (Though I know I don't). I think I'm up to 26.
Happy New Year
Wondering what your closet looks like.
I actually have a closet tour, if you go back to one of my earliest videos! They still look the same (though maybe a little more full).
I barely sew a button on something in a year.
