I just would like to follow up. Sent my 710Z to Penn to repair the "Bail Assembly". They did a great job. In addition to the repair. They opened the reel, cleaned it and packed it with grease, replaced the washers and oiled it up. All for about $50.00. Very happy. This reel has served me well for decades and it looks and performs like new.
Love this reel. Have mine since I purchased back in the early 1980's? Only recently did I have a problem. Bail will not engage. Sending it off to PENN hoping they can repair it. Hope so, awesome reel. Mine looks a lot like yours. Excellent conditions aside from a recently broken bail assembly. Good fishing!

I have come here and watched your vid to look at the reel about 20 times while waiting it’s arrival. It should be coming today !! How did you go with the mono ? Did you try it out with braid and topshot??
I bought the Penn 710 Greenie, I've seen videos where they have it paired with a St Croix rod, and that's exactly what I'm going to pair it with. Can't wait to finally have it!

Charlie Maddock I used it with 12 pound mono full spook but I want to try to put a top shot with braid it’s a great reel !

I think the record striped bass was caught on one ....you can go big if the pole can handle it. Nice reel, I got a greenie 710 bailess myself

Got a 711 (left hand 710). It's a tank. Great reals! Mine is brown, think it was a trial version and the color didn't go as good as the black.
