Christopher, I love your Time Stamps! They are so helpful and awesome. I missed them last week for Mosiah 7-10, did you share them? I was looking for Emily's references to the General Conference blessings. Do you know where she shared those? I can't find them in the newsletter either.
Alexandra Barnard hi Alexandra - yes, I do the time stamps every week. Just scroll through the comments until you find them. Unfortunately, I don’t have a link to the list from General Conference- I think it was a list that Emily made herself.
Thx u!!

The chosen
Thank you so much for doing this! Very helpful!
I just felt this powerful quote versus context this morning! I was reading from Joseph F Smith's teachings on abuse and felt annoyed that he seemed to first only discuss how a wife should avoid being keen, hurtful, and sarcastic. I thought of the men in my dysfunctional family growing up who were verbally abusive like that, and felt upset that I, as a woman, was being scolded for it. However, he immediately follows it with counsel for husbands as well. So while I felt defensive initially, I was able to appreciate the context, find ways to improve my parenting, and enjoy his defense of a peaceful home upon the 3rd reread of the page.
My home is so much more peaceful and joyful than the home I knew growing up, and it's solely due to God and the Gospel of Christ. The spirit is found, love is spoken, and I'm so very thankful for the spirit always humbling and teaching me.
I have felt the same in some of my reading. Then the spirit whispers...it is not just for those who wears high heels but all those who wears shoes.
Love your spirit!
Thank you David and Emilee for your love and knowledge of the scriptures. You have helped me so much in my desire to draw closer to my Father in Heaven and my Savior and His Holy Spirit. I think I cry every time. Especially during this time of not being able to go to church, I have drawn closer to them through the things y'all have taught and the witness of their Spirit. Thank you !
Thank you. Thank you for sharing your love of the Lord, His word and your faith with all of us. You two, willingly and freely sacrifice time to study and prayerfully determine what messages the Lord would have you deliver. Sometimes it is a story that touches me, sometimes it is a sentence or word. I have been blessed through your sacrifices. My family has been blessed. Thank you! Please know that what you are doing has changed and improved lives. For those of us with young families you have given us guidance, direction. For sometimes on those crazy days when I feel like I can't find the time or the ability to focus, you two bring help to bring focus and clarity to the messages in the readings. You are serving so many....The Lord has said, Whosoever will thrust in his sickle and reap, the same is called of God. -D&C 12:4 This is not a calling, that I am aware of :), this is service to your fellow being given with a pure heart. Your example gives me courage to share in ways that can sometimes be uncomfortable because I know that by sharing what I have learned I am passing on the light to others with gratitude in my heart.
I ❤❤❤❤❤your lessons!! Thank you so much for doing this.
And sometimes it takes the power of TWO - David and Emily! Thank you so much for your insight and for your powerful testimonies! You are helping me grow.
Thanks we have this eventhough we are under pandemic situation. Still we have this Sunday School lesson on Come Follow me. I really love it.
Im so gratefull to your efforts for having this kind of virtual lesson.
Ah "The Chosen" is so good! I'm actually so sad season two isn't out yet! Haha, but also, thank you David and Emily for what you do! We learn so much from you! You have so many people here in South Africa who are being blessed through 'Don't Miss This' so thank you! ❤
Your love of the scriptures and joy in teaching comes through in every video! Thank you for sharing this with us.
Confound can mean "to cause surprise in someone by acting against their expectations." Abinadi certainly did that to King Noah and his priests. Also thanks for the recommendation on The Chosen, one of the best things I've ever watched.
The Chosen is AMAZING!!!! I have binge watched it at least 4 times. I can't watch just one episode. Bought the DVD'S and give them out for people to watch. Cant wait for season 2!!!! Thank you for bringing it up.
I love...faith goes backwards and forwards.
Thank you two! I learn so much from your videos, I appreciate all you guys teach and testify.
Thank you for the work and study you put into these videos. A few people have mentioned this already, but I'd like to add a bit of what Tyler Griffin on Book of Mormon Central said about Abinadi: "I've heard a lot of people make fun of Abinadi because it says here he came in disguise and then announced himself.... Abinadi isn't an "Oops, I shouldn't have said that" kind of guy. ... He's been gone for two years, and so the reason for the disguise may have been to evaluate the people's spirituality. At that point, he was ready to begin prophesying again." I think this take on it gives Abinadi respect and the benefit of the doubt. He truly knew what he was doing and how to do it!
The last couple of minutes made my heart turn to mush. The power of one. Abinadi -> Alma. So powerful.
I loved the Chosen also! Thank you for sharing it
Sh Sherwood what is The Chosen please?
@@keithc.rasmussen6943 It is an online miniseries about Christ's life on VidAngel.com
I love that you are willing to do this through this. In Washington ,you would have to be in your homes the way you were on the Deseret Book time.
Thank you for your light and goodness! I always love your messages. I found a beautiful answer to why Abinadi was in disguise and then announced himself as Abinadi! The Tyler and Taylor Come Follow Me video for this week explains it.
Kelsey Kacher taylorhalverson.com/2020/05/09/why-did-abinadi-preach-in-disguise/
Every episode is SO good and has lit the fire in my heart for loving the scriptures. This one is so good, too!
Thank you both so much for this inspiring daily piece of bread which always completes my scripture breakfast!
Hi! I love Don't Miss This! I wanted to add a comment about the question the priest asks about publishing peace. He was sneakily suggesting that Abinadi could not be from God because he had been stirring the people up - the opposite of publishing peace. The priest was using scripture to try to catch Abinadi and find fault. Abinadi circles back to this later in chapter 18 and addresses it.
Thank you. Watching from the Philippines.
This was your most BEAUTIFUL lesson yet. Thank you and bless you!
Thank you, this may sound a bit weird but you two are the only thing that is half way normal in my life. I love studying with you.
I just love y’all! Your lessons are the best!! 💕
Speaking to the power of one....there is a glimmer of hope for Noah in Mosiah 17:11. "And now king Noah was about to release him (Abinadi), for he feared his word; for he feared that the judgments of God would come upon him." Abinadi was getting through to Noah. But Noah had made the fatal error of surrounding himself with the wrong friends. Verse 12 continues, "But the priests lifted up their voices against him, saying; He has reviled the king. Therefore the king was stirred up in anger against him, and he delivered him up that he might be slain." Had Noah kept the righteous priests, this story might have had a very different ending. Fortunately, Alma still had a soft enough heart to feel the power of Abinadi's words. And so, the power of one, Alma, saved many souls at the Waters of Mormon.
I love how Abinadi had to use a disguise to get back into the city. He feared no man or his own welfare, he went straight to God’s work. He let them know who he was, started testifying of Christ, and of their wrongdoing! I love his devotion to do God’s work without dwelling on ... well, anything but what God requested of him.
HEY NOW! I am a real person...lol Love from Richmond Virginia
I am so glad you mentioned “the Chosen.” I was talking about this with a friend and she shut me down saying it was not at all scripturally accurate and that we should not watch it. I am going to give it a chance. I have heard wonderful things.
Leitha Grover e we watched it and loved it. It is fictional. They take the real stories in the Bible and create a fictional backstory. It helped me love the true scriptural stories even more.
Leitha Grover yes it takes a lot of fictional liberties, but the basic outlines are true and it is full of the spirit. After watching, I loved researching in the scriptures and other books to see what parts were exactly true and which parts were just created for the show. It is an amazing show and brings the apostles and the Savior to life for me and my family!
Watch it!it is incredible. It takes the apostles and turns them into real people. The miracles are the same, but there are back stories that aren't scripturally true, including false doctrine on the last part of the 8th episode where they discredit temples. But if you go into it knowing that. I feel that my relationship with Christ has grown and become something even more strong because of the chosen.
Also you can watch it on UA-cam. Just type in the chosen episode 1, The chosen episode 2, etc. There are 8 episodes and they are absolutely worth your time. I could watch them over and over again.
Watch it, watch it, watch it Leitha. It is AMAZING. Latter day saint members and all other religions are on the production team and cast. It is so full of the spirit. Yes its frictional as we dont know the backgrounds of the disciples, but the overall outline is there, Nicodemus 'born again" encounter is the best. Water into wine, the Samaritan Woman, the paralysed man, a leper, the wedding feast. It's wonderful, and we should be open to all Christian ideas, etc. I found the Pope's Easter Message inspiring, was led there because I have been watching the actor who plays Jesus in The Chosen, on his fb and Instagram - 3pm Hour of Prayer sessions. We leave our religion groups at the door. Amazing.
Thank you
Regarding the issue of confounding people who are aggressive towards someone's beliefs another part of the definition of confound is to act against someone's expectations. So many times people who are not approaching this with a sincere heart attack and they expect us to attack back. Yet if we meet them with calm confidence this alone can confound them.
Very Good, thanks from Brazil .
Confound can also mean to prove wrong, or to defeat!
After many minutes or hours of questioning, after accusing him of anything and everything they could think of, Abinadi had sufficiently "withstood all their questions" and "answered them boldly", "confounding them in all their words", perhaps Alma was THE ONE who asked what seems to be a sincere question, "What meaneth the words which are written...?" Or generally, what does this scripture mean? And it was Abinadi's scathing rebuke which pierced and broke Alma's heart, causing serious reflection and great uneasiness concerning his current path in life... leading to his repentance and Abinadi's ultimate testimony of Christ which provides the key to unlocking the scriptures for Alma.
Thank you! Watching from StLouis Missouri USA
Another note, while we're talking about how Abinadi answered the priests' question about Isaiah-- "How beautiful upon the mountains," etc. Do you get the feeling that in choosing that particular passage, they were throwing a mocking dart of criticism at Abinadi? HE hadn't been talking about salvation or peace. HE hadn't been blowing light into their faces. HE wasn't beautiful upon the mountains. He'd been preaching doom and gloom as if that was what God wanted, but hey, RIGHT HERE IN THE WRITINGS it says that the BEAUTIFUL MESSENGERS are the ones who talk about PEACE AND COMFORT and everyone SINGING. (I can just hear them saying "FAIL, Abinadi, YOU FAIL."
So he goes into this long sermon, which seems at first to be more of the same,--I can see them rolling their eyes and shooting looks at each other like "Can you BELIEVE this guy? He doesn't get it!"--and as Abinadi goes on, he ends up defining exactly WHAT the message of peace and comfort is, and who it applies to, and again, why it doesn't apply to them and how it could (but it won't because they don't listen), and then brings it all back around to "Yeah, so the feet of those who teach about Christ are beautiful...upon the mountains. But here we are in the swamp, and you haven't been learning or teaching all those joyful and peaceful and wonderful things-- so you get the swamp sermon..."
Thank you! You guys are amazing! Emily, I am loving your book Grace where you are. It's sooooo goood! Really inspiring.
Thank you❣️ I promote you on my social media and my daughters to use for seminary for their teens 😃😘
Love this. Thank you from BC, Canada
I appreciate that map, I started reading this morning and was confused where King Noah came from, since we were just reading about Limhi. I thought I need to watch you guys, so that you could clarify! I love you guys, you make it come alive!!

Emily, I listened to "Grace Where You Are" on Deseret Books Bookshelf. I loved it so much. Thank you, thank you!!
"Every day, Every day, Every day..." I think was originally said by Elder Pearson?--in his talk "Stay by the Tree." Thank you both for sharing your talents and testimony with us! I look forward to "Don't Miss This" every week. Love you guys!
I got that map and it's amazing. Such a good help!
where did you get the map?

Bed rock understanding of the doctrines of the gospel comes with consistency in scripture study and not by intensity!
Love it, David: "binge Abinadi"!
So interesting! I have been watching some videos on the One For Israel channel. It has many testimonies of Jews who have come to Christ. Many of them have mentioned Isiah 53 being the turning point for them in coming to Christ. They have said that today, their Rabbi's don't even read that scripture, so they never even knew that Christ himself was a Jew. Such a powerful scripture!
Maybe Abinadi's message was not for Noah, but rather for Alma. God knew Alma's heart.
I, am SOOOO,grateful for theseCF.E ....lesslns- learned so much...like we go is O EMADI,is in v18- like...the Other NOAH-. How do you respond, when

Christopher, thanks...but I was referring to when they are reading & flipping pages...I tend to get lost as to which Ch they are in!! Thanks...its all good, our Sunday School teacher does the same thing...no worries...
When it says that Abinadi came in disguise, I think it was more that he had Christ's countenance in him and King Noah and his people were so wicked they couldn't recognize him.
zoom zoom zoom hahahaha love you again so nice youare like so normal so day to day i got alot of words but i cant type that fast just love this

One of you told an anecdote about a friend who sent you a quote. You said your friend was "confused" because "they did not have the context for the rest of the talk". Why use the term "confused"?
Hey guys this is great but do you think y’all can have a time during the video where we can actually see the chalkboard so we can take all the notes? Thanks!!

how do I find the "how to ask inspired questions" segment on instagram?
C/mon, seriously guys, can't you get a circle or footprint on the floor so that you don't drift in front of the board the whole way thru your presentations. What's the point of having great useful stuff on the board if we can't see it!!!
Pause the video at 38:21 and you'll be able to see the board
Do you have a written copy of your lesson? Where can I find it?
There is no written copy of their UA-cam lessons, but they do have a Don't Miss This Journal available through Deseret Book which has all of the lessons outlines (the white paper you see in the middle of the board) for the year as well as pages for notes, etc. There is also a newsletter that you can sign up for on EmilyBelleFreeman.com/newsletter.
“I Never Stand Alone,” by Steven Kapp Perry is a Perfect song for this week’s lesson!

Thank you for the reply
Where do you find THE CHOSEN ?
There is a free app in the app store and it's on UA-cam
Abinadi was very young, about 19 when he preached to king Noah. My friend met him in a vision. He also doesn’t like that painting of him as an old man. Who is this guy being all righteous and prophetic and so young?!!?
Interesting. I was thinking he either had to be really young, old or just single in general because how else could he just go out and die if he had a family and children depending on him. You might want to preface with “I think” though and not act like someone’s dream is doctrine.
You are doing a very good thing with the program you put together. It is so helpful to a lot of people...however I feel you are sending a message that it's ok to NOT follow stay-at-home rules amd social distancing expectations. I want you to keep uplifting the people who follow you but do it in the way that we have all been required to do - each from your own homes. There are people who adore you and love what you share but you should also show better examples in this as well.
Gosh, they are at home it's Emily's house.
And not every place is as strict as others.
Utah is one of the states that does not have a state-wide Stay Home rule. Plus, they are in Emily's basement :)
I wonder if 'confound' (mosiah 12:19) might mean to reveal inconsistency in an argument. I listen to people debate on talk radio and see how they will dissect an argument and reveal it's weakness. Abindadi does the same here. "Law of moses? You don't know anything about the law of moses."
I love the idea of the power of one. Noah, Abinadi, Alma... but most of all the Savior. One man saved us all ❤️
Maybe the disguise was to see if after 2 years the people had changed. But they hadn’t so no need to keep the disguise when he spoke as the prophet.

Whoa, King Noah reminds me of bout leader
Regarding the power of one... Christ is the perfect example. I especially think of Christ's New Testament analogy to the pharisees and scribes in Luke 15:4-5 of the good shepherd who left the 90 and nine to rescue the one. Christ was trying to teach the pharisees, and people of Noah (and us) not only of repentance but primarily of God's love for us. Elder Uchtdorf has a talk on this from 2016 - "He Will Place You On His Shoulders and Carry You Home. The power of one.
Haha--I'm just catching up and I had to laugh at "By the way, The Chosen--You should be watching that instead of this." Yesterday, Sunday, I thought I'd see if my boys would watch DMT with me--and um, they overrode my idea and we watched 3 episodes of The Chosen instead..... Love you guys, though! I do.
