- After an overnight double shift at work, Bobby returns home to find an eviction notice on his door. Then as he tries to unlock his door, his key does not work. His landlord, Jane, informs him that she has changed the locks and is forcing him to move out immediately. Bobby refuses to leave, stating he is well within his tenant's rights. Jane then calls the police, hoping they will force Bobby out. However, after the responding police officer questions both parties, he quickly realizes Jane is nothing more than a deadbeat landlord and must allow Bobby back into his apartment.

These are some true to life stories. My brother just went through something sorta like this. The landlady wanted him to move in 3 days. With no eviction letter or anything. She called the police to force him to move. The police told her that my brother wasn't obliged to move until she went down to the sheriff's office to get a 30 day eviction. Sometimes people always think they are above the law but if you want to get things done, do it the right way. The legal way. Stop wasting people's time. In this story, this landlady was really obnoxious🤦♀️ So glad that the cop was on the renter's side as well. Thank you Soul Snack❤ Always wonderful stories, always a great lesson!

Landlords and landladys should have their licences taken off them and never given back to them. That's bloody disgusting.
My outcome:
Ms. Dickinson ended up being sent to prison for five years. During her time in prison, she received a notice that she was removed as the landlord, and was also evicted herself. Upon being released from prison, Ms. Dickinson couldn’t find anywhere else to live, due to everyone in Mango Park knowing about her behavior, leading her to live the rest her life in a homeless shelter.

For Bobby however, things really started to look up. Upon being given his new keys, he was awarded a $5 million dollar lawsuit from Ms. Dickinson as part of court order during her 5-year sentence. He was able to buy himself a new house and start his own company that helps low income people like he was get proper housing with all necessary needs, so no one would ever live in poor conditions again

My outcome: she attempts to hit him with that stick and Bobby catches her out of the corner of his eye, unsnaps his legally carried handgun from the holster, turns quickly so it is pointed at her in less than two seconds and she stops dead in her tracks with understandably abject terror seeing the business end of a snub-nose five-shot .44 Special revolver and she immediately drops her makeshift heavy stick and backpedals herself away from him keeping her hands in view begging and pleading Bobby not to shoot.
The officer tells Bobby to lower his weapon and that he'll take it from there.
Landlady is arrested for Assault With A Deadly Weapon. The officer tells her that Bobby would have been well within his rights to shoot her and it would have been ruled as Self-Defense as he was on the property of what legally is his home and no duty to retreat from his legal home and has every right to defend his home and/himself in his home or on its exterior grounds
Officer assures Bobby he was in the right to draw his weapon as does his supervisor when he and detectives arrive. A neighbor's cameras caught the whole thing
The Officer's, his Supervisor's and Detective's reports reaches the District Attorney's Office and rules Bobby's draw of his weapon as consistent with the laws regarding Self-Defense no charges filed against him.
The landlady was taken to the regional jail and and booked.
The next day, she was arraigned and formally charged with Assault With A Deadly Weapon and faces a sentence of 10-15 years in prison. Bail set for $45,000. Landlady's lawyer says it is impossible to fight the case and he'll try to.ask the DA for deal. The DA refuses a deal and wants to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law with the maximum punishment , wanting to send racists and slumlords a message and show examples of what will happen to such people from now on.
Landlady was tried and convicted of Assault With A Deadly Weapon with Hate Crime enhancement and sentenced to 30 years in prison no Parole or time served applied.
She was sent to General Population, tried her racist and entitled behavior in prison and got her wig split umpteen times, learned more than she wanted to know about broomstick handles and fists where.they don't belong umpteen times, sold back and forth to other inmates and finally, she crossed the wrong inmate and was finally killed with multiple contusions, broken bones, and many stab wounds from shanks. Property was foreclosed and sold by the bank. Bobby found somewhere far better to live.

I remember when i was 15, my dad had just passed a couple weeks before Christmas and my mom and aunt were struggling with the rent and 3 days before Christmas in 2010 we got a knock on our door, landlord said that since they could no longer afford the rent that he wanted us all gone befor the beginning of the new year. My mom threatened to call the cops on him and take him to court cuz we had just had a death in the family, it was 3 days before Christmas, and he had not givin her a formal 2 months notice to give us time to look for a place and move. Landlord didnt care about any of that and me, my mom, and my aunt had to pack what we could carry in bags we could carry and leave everything else behind amd move into a motel 3 days before Christmas less then 2 weeks after loosing my dad, and we ened up not being able to enjoy our Christmas that year cuz we lost a family member, our place of residence, and pretty mush all of our personal belongings all cuz the landlord was an ass and refused to show any kindness to us during an extremely difficult time
My condolences for your dad, first and foremost. And I'm sorry about your situation with that asshole landlord. I went through an almost similar scenario as you--only this was an apartment that tried to say we had let a family member of ours solicit on the grounds, and we had no knowledge of what they were talking about. But we had gotten an eviction notice, and we had to leave before July 1st of 2015. I sometimes wish we could have fought that case in court because the building had no proof to show we were guilty of any wrongdoing. In fact, the case was thrown out in court because they had no proof. But we moved anyway.
She should treat people the way she wants to be treated.

This crazy slumlord is definitely in the wrong there’s no doubt about that, but why continue to stay at a place and a dump at that where you know you’re not wanted? I realize finding a new place isn’t always easy, but sadly awful landlords like this lady can and will find ways to make your life unnecessarily hard. If I were this guy I’d pack up all my things while she’s still in jail and leave without paying her a single cent for that month. I don’t like staying anywhere that I’m not wanted.

As I've said in earlier posts: When God made Man, He gave us 4 or more colors, shades and types of hair, eyes, skin and blood. AND by blood, we are interchangeable. When you go to the hospital or doctor's office to get blood, they don't mention your ethnicity, they ask for blood of your type. All donated blood is stored together in types. At 86, I have had over 100 transfusions in my life and I don't know who gave that blood. I just know that it saved my life and I am grateful.

That is so true. I remembered my last place before I lived in low income and my landlord refused to fix the leak roof and fix the narrow stairs and fixed the wall because we had flood and ruined all of my stuffs and plus mice and spiders problem all over the place. Plus everytime it's rain and the basement get flooded with hard rain even our town wasn't flooded. And my unit was cold in winter but hotter in summer. They never like fixing it. So glad I moved out. It was $600 a months of rent. Glad to live in low income, I only pay 191 a months of rents. And I pay electric, gas and internet. Same as last one. Except not worth it.

Nicely done. One correction, though: what was depicted here was assault and attempted battery, not attempted assault and battery. Assault is when one person threatens another, which can be done verbally, by posturing, or by acting in any other way that conveys a threat. Battery is physically attacking the other person. Assault and battery are often charged together, because without the battery, it can be quite difficult to prove assault in court. Of course, if the assault takes place right in front of a police officer or other witnesses, it's a lot easier to prove even without battery.
Even though this is just a video, that's how all people and police need to start treating black and other lives. This racism needs to reach the end of the Final Chapter soon.

I don't know what state mango Park is supposed to be in but in most States a police officer does not have the authority to try to figure out the terms of a lease. In fact it wouldn't matter what the officer in this video thinks. He wouldn't have the authority to execute the eviction even if he wanted to. In Most states, If a landlord wants to evict the tenant, first the landlord must:
-Type up a “notice to vacate” with a specified period of time in which the tenant must comply
-If the tenant fails to comply, then the landlord takes the tenant to District Court.
-If the judge agrees with the landlord, the judge will have an actual eviction notice drawn up and delivered to the sheriff
-The sheriff is the one who actually *_executes_* the eviction
By the way, it is extremely unlikely, according to the behavior of the landlord in this video, that a judge would actually go along with this. Sometimes, I think the people who write for these SoulSnack videos have no actual life experience.

I know this happened to some people that I know personally where they hike the rent up and they try to force people out or they try to put him out early which is illegal.
