Skytear Horde is a solo and cooperative card game inspired by tower defense video games. Waves of monsters will siege your castle all the while a sea of minions will pillage all your resources. Choose a legendary hero to rally the troops, defend the walls, and defeat the Outsider. Now go and fight, for the alliance!
The core gameplay of Skytear Horde is the combat between waves of monsters and your hero and troops defending the castle. If you played card battlers like Heartstone or KeyForge, you will find yourself at home.
You lose if your castle is destroyed or if your deck runs out of cards. On the other hand, to win it will not be enough to “just survive” the horde. You will have to find the resources to leave the castle and tear down the gates that are spawning the waves of monsters.

5.0 - My absolutely favorite games. You can pry them out of my cold dead hands.
4.5 - Love this game! At the same time missing something that would make it a 5. Could be hard to table, lacking variability, a little light, etc.
4.0 - Really great game, almost always keeping, although has meaningful complaints as to what takes away from the experience.
3.5 - Really enjoyed, don't love it, may lose out to better games but the idea of never playing again is a bit sad.
3.0 - A good game, would play and suggest with the right people, if I never played it again wouldn't lose any sleep.
2.5 - A game I'd play again , but will never suggest it myself
2.0 - A game I don't want to play again
1.5 - A game I can't find any reason to recommend
1.0 - A game that is just bad.

The developers have supported their previous game, Skytear, incredibly well to the point of making me want to back this. Not only have they regularly released content, built up and supported the community and their recommendations, but they’ve also introduced living, streamlined rules and new modes.
Watched the trailer and I think it is done brilliantly. I am getting more interested in this game and what you say about it increases that interest.
So, first let me tell you how informative your reviews and videos are. You are truly one of the best boardgame channels on here.
This game looks great! I am considering it heavily now.
Also, one off question, what are your thoughts on GKR Urban Wastelands expansion?
Really really love the look of this one! Thanks Alex
Anytime :)
Hey Alex, small typo in the description of the video and Chapter name - "0:08:48 - East of Play."
Thanks for the video! Super interested in this one now.
Fixed thanks!
Haha. I've seen East of Play more than a few times. Definitely one of BoardGameCo's Top 10 typos ;)
i keep seeing ads for this on facebook lol i thought it was random junk. I do love me some marvel champions. Just went 200 deep on ISS vanguard and I guess Ill go in here as well.
I cannot wait till Monday's to back or not to back I am curious on your opinion of a couple games that just launched.
looks fun. backing
it's a blast :)
I'm definitely excited to play this more. Deluxe seems to be the way to go as the collectors edition feels over priced to me.
I haven't yet looked at pledge levels
Second unlisted video in two days. I am like a secret agent.
Lol the timing of having things go up :)
Have you played Attack on Titan? Seems similar enough in the wall defense systems even though Titan is a deck builder so I could see an argument for them being different enough. I’ve always enjoyed deck builders more than fixed decks but this one looks very interesting to me.
Would this be better or similar to stonebound sage ?
How does this game feel in comparison to XenoShyft? (Both being cooperative “tower defense” games an all)
Didn't feel the same to me but in hindsight I understand why you would compare them. I'm loving this one while only being ok with xenoshyrt
2:00: How is it 4 cards on the 4th turn? There's a 1 there.
You said you want more content for the game. Now that the campaign is live, do you think there's enough there? There are basically 4 decks you can play with and 4 you can play against. Did your prototype come with 2 playable decks? So the full version only has twice as much?
It doesn't sound like a lot to me, although the game does look interesting, and fairly cheap (VAT and shipping notwithstanding). But I'm thinking I might just wait til it comes back to KS (if it does) and go all in then, when there are 8 or more decks to play around with.
Came here with the same question.
Interesting.
How does this game compare to Siege of Valeria? I'm searching for a solo tower defense game and can't decide which one to get.
I liked both but prefer this one
Have you played Race for galaxy and/or Roll for the galaxy? Did you like any of them?
Yes on both, loved race, roll fell flat for me
@@BoardGameCo Ok, thank you for the reply.
Heads up, Alex (you may have noticed already), not sure if it's worth pointing out or not, but the KS campaign graphic has you giving this game 4.5/5 stars. I thought it was odd since you don't give out half stars. At any rate, thanks for the video!
I actually do give out half stars these days, but I didn't here. I wonder if he heard 4.5 instead of 4 out of 5.
@@BoardGameCo You actually say "4 to 5" (19:28), so that would be a 4.5
@@WispNL I talk fast, but that's definitely a 4 out of 5. Slow it down and listen.
@@BoardGameCo haha 😂 wow I can try and hear that, but just listening normally it’s “4 to 5” to me 😅 - and apparently to Skytear Games 😉
my bad I heard it wrong, we will fix it tomorrow when our graphic designer is awake again :)
Curious how this compares to Summoner Wars (which I've not played but imagine it is a similar niche).
Comp vs coop is definitely a big difference off the bat.
You should review Skytear the Moba game.
I will be :)
How many different heros did you get to preview.
3 decks.
I asked for a refunded of my pledge for too many bones to get into some other games that are up right now....I was able to play tmb recently and I don't see myself going through all that content and with the 1100 Dollars I could buy a lot of other games that I will actually play.....I will probably regret this at some point.
no you wont. tmb is not worth 1100
oh man if feel likes Marvel Champions I'm in...
Yep :)
Hey Alex. Any comment on the TTS controversy/issues? I realize that as a guy that gets many upcoming KS's in prototype form, you may not have the need for TTS, but to many of your followers, TTS is the best way to try out a KS, long before a physical version is ready to ship. So, given that you audience probably overlaps heavily with the TTS crowd, wondered if you had a comment.
I know the general high notes, but I've seen so much conflicting statements that I'm not 💯 certain. My impression is they had a crap take, and doubled down instead of retracting. Would I personally boycott them? No. Do I understand anyone who does? Yes. Could my opinion change on either of those if I found out more, absolutely.
@@BoardGameCo Thank you for your response. The handling of the situation from Berserk and TTS is troubling. For our hobby to continue to be great, it must always be pushing to be more inclusive, and push against companies and individuals who limit that. I'm realizing more and more, as a straight cis white male, I can't just sit on the sideline, letting those in the minority to push for more inclusiveness. It has to be a rally cry for all and must be championed by all.
It's not terrible but I'm getting a bit tired of card games following Hearthstone's visual design.
I hear that.
