Serouisly, I remember reading it in the NASM textbook, then googling it to further understand, and I kind of understood it but with the help of this video I understood it in 8 mins!
@@nickrodriguez9867 woooo, how time flies haha! I passed my exam about 2 months ago now and have a pretty cool gig with it! Good luck on your exam and the knowledge portion. Exam was harder than I expected but still managed!
The video is truly amazing for me. I've had back problems for over 12 years and recently experienced a really massive herniated disc at L5/S1. I had surgery 3 weeks ago and am now in rehab. My problem has always been that I don't know how to get my pelvis neutral when doing strength training, so I always used bracing. The trainer there told me to pull in my navel and not do the bracing, which was very unusual and initially not doable for me at all, and also contradicts everything I know about strength training or is considered outdated and made no sense to me. Through the video, I learned that both approaches have their place and I dont think the bracing was wrong. I think not to know how it feels to have my pelvis in a neutral position was what caused my problems. I'm curious what the trainer will say about it 😄
Just watched so many videos instructing to use "bracing" instead of "drawing in" but I totally agree with you that both can be used depending on the exercise or activity. I am not a specialist neither an athlete just someone trying to reduce back pain by strengthing my core.
When performing drawing in maneuver your body must be relaxed like doing hook lying while doing it so that the transversus abdominis muscle must be isolated. trans ab muscle is one of the primary core stablizers.
Thanks, it clarify my delima as I have diastasis recti and I was doing exercises wrong by bracing instead of drawing in, so just reversing the effect 😔
Do you know how I can maintain the brace longer when doing these exercises? I’m afraid at some point during my exercises I will accidentally let the brace go after using the technique. Should I practice breathing while bracing on my own time? Please let me know.
I am newly postpartum, baby is 6 months and I am confused on when I can reintroduce bracing? I’ve been doing tons of breathing in mechanism to build back my core and transverse. However now when I lift heavy or attempt to and attempt to brace the pushing out makes me look pregnant again 🫣😬 do you recommend anything ?
Very impressive. This is something that NASM does not teach-the when, why, and purpose of doing bracing and/or drawing-in. Excellent video, sir.
Glad you enjoyed it!

@@Gmo630 I’m literally doing this right now 😂 I couldn’t picture it. I know bracing, but I wanna see it. Page 230, Chapter 9. 👍

This is the most amazing video after spending hours learning how to engage the core muscles.❤
Excellent. I’ve always been unsure of what is best and you have helped massively ❤
Glad we could help!
This helped me so much I couldn't understand and you cleared it all up.
Awesome information for Bracing VS Drawing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you very much sir. Was very detailed and informative 🤝

Excellent video, tried reading from book got confused only thanks it helped
Glad it helped!
This was very helpful thank you so much.
Nice video man, thanks for the information!
So are there not specific exercises where you should brace vs drawing in? Thanks for this explanation.
When performing drawing in maneuver your body must be relaxed like doing hook lying while doing it so that the transversus abdominis muscle must be isolated. trans ab muscle is one of the primary core stablizers.
Have u read the McGill books or listened to any of his videos… so far ahead with his research I think he’d disagree with your statement💁♂️
Thank you. Great content
Glad you enjoyed it!
thank you for researching!
Very clearly explained. Thank you.
Glad you liked it
Excellent
Super explanation, thanks !
I’ve noticed if I cue up drawing in as my primary function my core will brace naturally when put under stress.
That's what I've noticed too

Bracing is still best overall, but you can vary it up.
Thank you
What about squats? I would think it’s better to contract and brace always for this with or without air inhaled
grattitude!
very effective

Do multifidus muscles engage in both??
Multifidus engages in drawing maneuvere
I have diastasis recti after birth, it’s 2 finger gaps. Do you think I should do bracing or drawing in? Thank you.

When I brace my abs, I feel pressure and a little hurt in my lower back, I dont know why? Whoud you tell me why?
Ribs not stacked over hips.
pulling in your belly button is more for people who want a tiny waist, bracing doesn’t give you that,
How the heck do you breathe when you're bracing?
I'm drawing in my abdominals while watching this video.
What might be safer with a hiatal hernia does it matter
What you suggest for ddd at l5s1?
Bracing you eliminate micro movements much more effectively
