The biggest thing is to not let the weather spoil your day! Yes, it's great to be prepared, but if you get wet, make the most of it! I remember one year when I got caught in the rain with my cousin in the Magic Kingdom. Since we were already wet, we decided to have fun with it and went skipping down Main St. USA, splashing in puddles, while everyone else ran for cover and looked at us like we were crazy! 15 years later (give or take), and that's still one of the first memories that comes to mind when I think of various Disney trips.
i know Im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Aiden Cristiano I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
My son and daughter-in-law weathered Irma in Allstar Music. When they came home I made them "I rode Hurricane irma at Disney" teeshirts with a picture of Cinderella's castle peaking through a hurricane eye ^_^
As a former cast member and former Disney Passholder, another hack my husband and I had was going to EPCOT in the evenings. The breeze off the lake definitely cools World Showcase down, even on the hottest of days. -Also, speaking of thunderstorms, it seems to storm every single day during the summer between 3-4pm. I worked at Typhoon Lagoon during the summer and it ALWAYS stormed during this time period. Also, please beware of lightning. Lots of guests who are not used to frequent lightning underestimate how dangerous it is. If it's lightning, please take immediate shelter. Go into a resort, or into a shop on Mainstreet or any shop, really. As soon as the storm starts darkening nearby, start booking it to some shelter. Love these videos. So helpful! All the love
We spent both Hurricane Mathew and Hurricane Irma at WDW, as we had to evacuate from the coast. Can't say enough good things about how Disney handled the Hurricanes! We will say, that they were More prepared with Irma than Mathew! Great video AJ!
This video is super helpful for planning. Just a suggestion, I would love to see a video of best unique souvenirs. For example, I love that you can get boxed macaroons in the France pavilion. I’d love to see what else is out there.
So surprised you didn’t mention the need for sunblock. Yes getting wet is uncomfortable, but getting sunburnt is my biggest fear because we are so busy in the parks. I try to put on a good layer of sunblock all over in the morning before leaving the room.
James Townsend and carry some in your backpack or pocket, because you should reapply it every couple of hours, especially if you get caught in the rain. I actually throw a thin white T-shirt with long sleeves in my mini back pack, because I turn into a lobster if I am in the sun for any amount of time. I always wear it over the 1100-1300 hours when the sun is crazy. Oh, and keep in mind, even if it is overcast out all day, you will get sunburned. Been there done that. Signed, the sun hates me. 🤣🤣
My boyfriend and I must have watched all of your videos over the last couple of months - were off in October and travelling from Wales so you’ve been super helpful!!!!! Thank you
Bahja Streeter we are going the last week in Oct. The last two times we went were in the summer. Too hot. For October, I heard it is normally 75-80 during the day and in the mid 60s at night. We plan on shorts and t-shirts during the day and then throwing on a hoodie at night if needed. Oh, and we always carry a disposable poncho in our pocket. No one wants to wrestle a wet poncho into their pocket or backpack once it gets wet.
We went a few weeks ago in August. We followed her advice to the tee and she was spot on! We went early and returned later. We went back to our room and slept. We returned around 4 or 5 pm. Best advice ever. We were about to get onto EVERYTHING and we didn't suffer much in the heat. Our trip was AMAZING!!!!
We were at WDW, on property, during hurricane Irma. All the cast members could not have do a better job! I don't know if Disney's training is that well done or they are able to hire that quality of people, but wow they were great!
Shaun Wintheiser - we were also there during Irma and the staff were all spectacular. Super calm and reassuring. We felt very safe and they tried very hard to keep us happy and entertained as long as possible. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back during hurricane season.
I'm a local and went the day before hurricane Irma forced the parks to close down. That day, I went to all 4 parks and got on every big ride. As a matter of fact, I recommend going to Disney World when a hurricane hits for this reason alone.
I'm so in love with channel! I'm going to WDW in September for the first time, and this channel has been a LIFESAVER! Thank you so much for making these videos I've learned so much!
I've lived in Florida my whole life and all you said was spot on! For a Floridian, 50 degrees is cold for us. We have thin blood we get cold very easily. Alot of people who live up North think Florida is the sunshine state and it never gets cold. We'll, I'm here to tell ya it does. It can get into the low 20's with wind chills and be in the teens! We sometimes even get a little snow if the conditions are right which happened this past Winter. It was a very unusual Winter for sure! You're a pro AJ! Even if you had to learn the hard way sometimes! 🤣
lovmnsn It should be nice. It's been a bit warm lately. I live in North Central Florida and it was 85 today, so it's probably warmer in Orlando. But it could change at any time. We have weird weather here! 🤣 But I think it will be good.
I practically lived on their ice cream sandwiches. I usually downed them and had water and I made out okay, definitely stay hydrated. That’s a big reason people feel sick.
Growing up in Tampa we mostly tried to stay away from Disney during the summer, but for those going in the hottest time of the year here are a few ideas: Go to Epcot during the day, there is more air conditioned space in Epcot then any other park. Around 5 or 6 head over to the Magic Kingdom as it starts to get cooler (also the parks are a little lighter by then). You can also get dehydrated very quickly so water is the best, soda does not help, it actually makes it worse. Also remember Animal Kingdom will feel 5 to 10 degrees hotter compared to the other parks. It rains everyday betwen 4 and 5 no matter what the weather states, it will be a downpour but will only last 15 minutes or so. Afterwards the humidity will be almost unbearable due to it turning into steam from the heat.
Great channel with great advises!!! What i remember to be VERY important at Disney Parks during summer was a light hooded jacket (for the freezing rides), rain cape , hand sanitize to avoid cold and flu and my cellphone charger.
If you chafe use body glide!! It is a life saver, I chafed so bad one year I ended up having using diaper rash cream from the gift shops and it was awful. I literally walked like a penguin for the rest of my trip. There's a regular body glide and a body glide for her, they are the same! And the for her is a little more expensive so get the regular one.
The product is called body glide. You can find it anywhere in like the athletic section I believe. It's in a blue tube and it looks like a stick of deodorant. You could even use it on your feet to prevent blisters!
Hey AJ, we love your channel. Your videos help build up my family’s excitement for our next trip to Disney World. Keep up the good work. Thank you so much.
I'm from Canada and WAS NOT READY for the heat of Florida in August the first time I went to WDW. I did my best to power through, but I actually fainted in a ride standby queue. Since then, I've made sure to make use of the free water at counter service places but also, I have only booked in the fall/winter since then. The weather is much more bearable (IMO) and it cheaper I find. Even in fall/winter, Orlando can still get hotter than summer does here. Of course, it's easy to spot us as the tourists wearing shorts and tank tops during the Christmas Party, but it's much more comfortable if you're like me and have a hard time in hot weather.
I like the drink sticks. They are easy to carry and you just add them to your bottle of water. There're many varieties, some having electrolytes like Powerade.
Where in Canada are you from? I recently visited wdw and the current weather is exactly like summer where I live, I don't like it, but it wasn't at all strange or unfamiliar...
These were perfect! I learned about the ponchos and strollers in 2016. We made sure in 2017 we had ponchos and strollers covers and croc sandals to deal with the Aug weather
We’ve caught two hurricanes in twenty years of going. The last was Hurricane Irma last year, we were on site and we were very well looked after. We weren’t stuck in our rooms very long, literally just over night, the hurricane hit and the clean up was started as soon as sun up, we were back in the pool that afternoon and the parks were open the next day, and there was no one around so it was brilliant!!!
As someone who was at Beach Club during Hurricane Irma, I could not agree more with being able to get to the lobby when the parks were closed. Even though they only asked us to stay in our rooms for 12 hours straight or so (when the weather really started getting bad), being able to easily get to the lobby during those two days was fantastic.
I was a WDW cast member in the Fall of 1999 with the college program and all the parks closed for a day as they were expecting a major hit from hurricane Floyd. The storm tracked more toward the coast and did not come inland, but all the parks were closed for most of the day and some attractions reopened at 4 pm. I was told the parks had not closed for weather in 30 years, so I was there for a historic event (as well as the roll over to 2000).
my very first trip to disney world was in august 2014 and we didnt know about hurricane season or anything xD we were stuck at the airport till 10am bc of rain and we got to magic kingdom at 1pm. we lost half day ;_; it was so hot and humid even though i live in south america!! but it was an amazing experience. I returned to Orlando last year but in November (lesson learned xD) and the weather was lovely sunny but not hot and windy in the afternoon.
Last time I was there in 2010, I planned everything for my parents. Even though I was only 20 and had only gone to Disney once when I was 6, I managed to schedule us so that we never got rained one, due to always knowing what time it was, keeping an eye on the clouds and always knowing where the nearest indoor attraction was. We didn't waste a moment.
As a local, I highly recommend going during a hurricane. I know it sounds scary, but during hurricane Irma, I went the day before the parks were closed for two days. I went on every big ride in all four parks (except Splash Mountain because it was down for refurbishment). At Magic, I didn't wait at all for the Mine Train. At Animal Kingdom, I waited 45 minutes for Flight of Passage and rode Everest 4 times with no wait. I didn't even really have to wait for Frozen Ever After at EPCOT. So if a hurricane is every announced, I'd actually recommend you book a Disney vacation at that time. Any person who's been to Disney during a hurricane knows why I'm saying this.
What are you talking about? Are you from Florida? Have you lived through hurricanes? The only scary part about hurricane Irma was the fact that I was without air conditioning for a week afterwards. Hurricanes are way overhyped in media. It's effectively a nasty storm which Floridians deal with almost every summer day around 5 pm
Okay well you're on the ocean. Orlando is arguably the safest place in Florida during a hurricane. We're far enough in land. I thought that would've been common sense.
We were there for Irma and when the parks opened back up not everything was available because of the damage. Downed trees, ect. We were at the Poly and a HUGE tree uprooted and thankfully landed on the grounds and not the building. I didn't like the peak of the storm being at night. I had a hard time sleeping. We were in an end unit on the top floor so there were small trees banging against our roof and wall. This went on for a few hours then they toppled over and it was the howling wind that kept me awake after that. I'm not chicken because I'm from the northeast and we have some pretty bad storms but it really put a damper on the vacation for us. Maybe it's our age. We are in our 50's and not as adventurous as we were in our younger days! Lol
To avoid the heat, I either go to the stores where there's AC, or building-hop. Once you find out the entrances are to stores you can walk in & out of stores & certain restaurants going along going in 1 side & out the other. Epcot, Magic Kingdom & Studios make this possible.
Those cooling towels (I purchased them at Walmart) and portable fans are a LIFE saver. I almost passed out one day while pushing my son in his wheelchair in the middle of August. After that, I Got the towels, fans, and stayed hydrated the next day and I was ok.
I’m from NW Florida- rains here all the time! I have a collapsible raincoat that I bring to Disney all the time (I’m 8 hours away so I don’t go that often) and it was so funny to see everyone running for cover in plastic poncho while we are just strolling through wearing real raincoats.
what an awesome idea!! the idea of having to fold them back up into those pouches sounds like a bad time to me! not to mention, finding somewhere for them to dry out. Thanks for sharing!
You hit our weather patterns right on the head A.J.!!! To those vacationers watching this video, make sure you listen to the advice given here. It will save you a lot of headahes, heartahes and chafed underarms or thighs!!! 💚 💛 💜
We evacuated from Lake Okeechobee area to WDW during Irma. It was a safe, great place to be. The cast members were informative, helpful, and very friendly. We had TV, air-conditioning, and power the entire time.
Last time I went to Disney it was February, and the interchangeable weather is so true! It was mostly cold when I was there except the last day. At it can get really chilly at night!
I live a few hours away from Disney and so I’ve been there alot and I’ve only been there twice or three times without rain, one last month and another one in November a few years ago. Literally rains so much
I live in the north of England and I love the Florida weather. It’s great experiencing the changes that can occur from hour to hour but usually the sun soon returns. I have been there in May, June and August and I didn’t feel that there was much difference month to month - it was always fantastically hot. Whether I would want to live permanently in such high temperatures is another matter. This year we are travelling to Orlando mid April for 3 weeks and I am counting the days. It is currently sunny here, but only 42F and that is the highest temperature that is forecast for the next 2 weeks.
i imagine visiting is a lot more fun than living here XD i always tell people it's fun for a bit but i don't recommend living here unless you have to. you can't plan any outside activities cause once you do BAM rain.
Yes. Remember to bring 2 or 3 jackets. One should be a poncho. It will be cheaper if you get it from a place where you are coming from at home than buying it there.
Having lived in Florida my entire life, I can say that you are spot on about the weather (although you missed a season, BUGS at night). The best advice I can give is prepare for anything. Wear loose fitting clothes. Workout apparel is best because it breathes and keeps you dry and cool. Workout apparel is especially good on the water rides where you know you are going to get wet. After a few minutes of walking around in the park you'll be dry and actually thinking about going back to get wet again because it helps with the heat.Another tip is to know what rides had the best indoor queues. Pirates of the Caribbean is a cool oasis once in the indoor queue portion.
I remember going when I was about 10 years old in December and it was in the 30's the whole week. We came from Indiana to enjoy the Florida sun, we got wind and cold. But the plus was the park was almost empty!! We didn"t have to wait on anything! It was still fun in the cold!!
one good tip i found helpful was riding the water rides (splash mountain, kali river rapids) is to pack flip-flops and wear them on those rides, flip-flops are also very light and easy to carry, got to keep my sneakers dry all day
I have done Orlando parks in January (too cold), February (lucked out with weather), March (lucked out with weather), May (it was unseasonably hot and humid), November (excellent), and December (great some days, not others). Heading for our first August trip... we live in DC so we will probably be prepared. We also did Israel last August and Cartagena Colombia the August before, so Orlando can’t be worse!
These are GREAT tips! We're APs, and we run into weather of all sorts at all times when we go usually in May and the fall. Sometimes burning up, sometimes cold! Oh Florida. You so crazy.
Our only visit so far, was in Feb. 1991. Weather was great for someone from Michigan. Single layer in the daytime, with the only decision being, short sleeves and shorts, or long pants and long sleeves. At night, it was usually, long pants and pretty light jacket, or lighter.
I was stuck at The Loews Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal Orlando during Hurricane Mathew. We were very comfortable but getting dinner was very crowded and Insanely EXPENSIVE!!! Afterward, there were palm trees knocked over and a few siding panels pulled off the hotel building as well as debris all over the place, but wasn't too bad. Living in Las Vegas, Mathew was the first hurricane I've ever experienced.
Thank you for this; I was a little nervous about travelling in Hurricane season- LOL I am from the Canadian Prairies. We are ready for snow storms almost year round but have little to no knowledge of tropical storms, apart from what we see on the news, which is of course not "the norm". I am so excited to go in the beginning of October!! And feeling a lot more comfortable about staying at WDW even if a bad storm hits.
We were staying at the Poly during Irma. They took very good care of us but we have decided to find a new time of year to vacation. The last week of November through the first two weeks of December is awesome but I find it stressful to vacation so close to the holidays. We are trying out springtime this year. April 29 - May 4. Just 5 nights but we wanted to experience a different season as we've only been in the fall. I know it will still be very hot but hopefully not as stormy as September! Thank you for another great video! ❤️
Jeans are a wonderful thing :) as a woman with thunder thighs, rash comes really easily with shorts when both wet and dry. Jeans may be a little hotter, but you avoid all the chafing
In October of 2016 our last day at Disney they closed the parks and it was the saddest thing ever! It was cool seeing the hurricane though, since I am from Indiana!
We loved the rain when we were there. For the whole week (except the last day), it rained for about 30 minutes around noon. The temperature dropped 10 to 20 degrees for the rest of the day and it was excellent. The last day when it didn't rain, it was incredibly hot and miserable.
Even in the summer when you expect WDW to be hot make sure you pack at least one long sleeved shirt one pair of long pants and a jacket. A passing shower can really cool things off or air conditioning can be on the North Pole setting. I have been frozen on a bus and then stepped out in to the heat. Many folks find themselves in the Disney Gift stores buying a long sleeved something because they are cold after a shower. I have a longsleeved SPF sunblock shirt with pockets that store everything but the water bottle so I can go through the no bags security line. When I don't need the shirt the heat I carry it in a Disney shopping bag (which I carry in one of the pockets), The cooling towel is also good for wiping up after a shower or drying a wet seat.
Honestly, coming from a born and raised Floridian, even if it is hurricane season and there IS a hurricane coming straight for Disney with any decent strength, you're still probably in the best place to weather the storm! Florida has always dealt with tropical storms and hurricanes and such and all our buildings are built to withstand those storms and people are trained to assist and guide you to safety especially in Disney.
On our most recent trip we experienced freeze warnings for the first time. As we drove down we were prepared, but some of our foreign friends were woefully unprepared. Walmart and Target did banner business, but in Disney Springs the new Uniqlo store had very reasonable down jackets and Disney logo wear.
Ha! Funny story -- I was in NYC this past October and wasn't prepared for the cold (even though I lived there for 5 years!!) -- Uniqlo saved us there, too!
I first went to WDW Florida in 1993 during September/October and it was an uncharacteristically dry year with just a couple of rain storms during our two week stay. In 1999 during October we experienced afternoon rain storms on around half of the days. The last time I went in June/July 2001 was a shock to the system because it rained pretty much for our whole two week stay. We're heading back out there this year with my children for the first time in May/June so we'll see what that brings. Although being from the UK we're more then used to rain. If you go to a theme park here and it's raining, you're wet and cold all day because the sun rarely emerges to dry it all out! Grim!
I recommend SWIM SHOES, like Speedo. You can always add a Dr. Scholl's gel insert to make them more comfortable! I've worn them for years to New Orleans Jazz Fest. They're machine washable, lightweight, and fast drying!
I’ve been binge watching your vids XD thanks so much for all the great advice!! I’m going last week of October next year, just on the edge of hurricane season so fingers crossed. I’m from the uk so I’m used to the cold and rain 💪🏻 I’ll likely die from the heat
Worst thing I ever did in the summer is a poncho. I was just as wet but with sweat. Waste of money. Quick dry clothes with those sandals mentioned is my summer wardrobe.
One year many many many years ago we went the week of Christmas. Actually spent Christmas at the park. And it was sooo cold. We were not expecting that. Luckily we brought layers just in case. But it was crazy and surprising
I usually go end of Sept, which is perfect. It's usually in the 70s with a high of 80-something in the afternoon. I've gone in early January a couple times and it was in the 40s the whole trip, and that was fine. We just bundled up and had a great time. My last trip was this month and it'd started to warm up enough that we were alternately cold and hot and constantly putting layers on and taking them back off. I wouldn't do February again.
I went there last december and omg I didn't expect it too be soo cold. Here I am thinking it was going to be mostly sunny, lol I pretty much was wearing winter jacket the whole 4 days I was in disney parks.
My eldest daughter is a CP right now (third time, fourth park permanent assignment) and our family has come from Chicago four times, plus parts of the family a couple of times over the past couple of years. We are prototypical Northern European (Irish), so my daughter working Haunted Mansion is perfect! Moving on, AJ, I echo your weather predictions. In my experience going to WDW in late July after our major sailboat race, 1) it rains between 2:00 and 2:25 pretty much every day. Therese a weatherman reason for that; 2) UPF 50+ clothing (rashguards, camping shirts/shorts/pants/zipoffs) are required, and 3) Don't pay $15 for a poncho you can buy at the dollar store at home. Whether it's a Disney Poncho or a dollar store poncho, you have at best three uses. One week, seven rainstorms, My go-to is a rashguard and fast-dry zip-off pants. But I'm a sailor. I'm not concerned about a little gale hitting me. Hurricanes hardly ever happen. Central Florida was selected as the site precisely because most hurricanes' teeth are pulled by the time they get past the southern coast or Cape Canaveral, depending on path. When they do, the parks and resorts have a comprehensive plan to shut down the parks, keep people safe, fed and entertained during the storm in their hotels, and restart quickly once the storm has moved north. During those times, please be kind to the cast members in your hotel. At that time, they are like flight attendants in a crisis. They want to make you as comfortable as possible, but your safety is their primary concern, and they will sacrifice comfort for that purpose.
2008 Tropical storm Fay was crossing the area. We decided to go to Animal Kingdom anyway. It rained all day, but it contributed to my favorite Disney moment. We started at the character trails and we went to see Goofy first. No one else was there, so when my 8 yr old daughter started to see him, Goofy throws down his umbrella and runs up to her to give a big hug. He lead her by hand to see the others to get autographs.
Here in Washington state in the winter especially in the Seattle area when it gets to above 50° and especially 60 outcome the shorts in the sweatshirt or jeans and a sweatshirt no need for a winter coat
On our first ever trip to WDW in 2010, we were at Animal kingdom lodge and got caught up in a torrential downpour. Now, mind you, we are from northern California. My then 7 yr old had never seen rain come down like that. He burst into tears. We didn't have our ponchos with us. It was just a mess. Even to this day, he always asks me, "do we have the ponchos?" LoL
I have a very fond memory of standing under a big palm leaf on discovery island (back when it was its own park) during a downpour....pretty neat experience!
I was at Disney during summer of 2019 when Hurricane Dorian was coming through. They closed the parts at 3pm the afternoon before Dorian arrived, and true to form, they had some characters in the Lobby---I remember Woody was there, but I forget who else. We were at Pop Century, so there was no way to get to the Lobby from our room---but we didn't really need to; we had a rental car, so we could drive to Walmart and stock up on a few days' worth of food in case we needed it. We turned out that didn't even need that extra food (Disney authorized their maids to take whatever food guests left behind, so at least it won't go to waste!). Dorian went over us during the night, and the rooms were so well-built that we slept right through it with no problem. And Disney opened the parks again the following morning! Heck: the temperature was a comfortable 76 degrees the day after the hurricane, so the hurricane actually made the whole experience *more* enjoyable for me!
BTW the ride tips also count for nearly every theme park they will defenetly close down outdoor things beacause it's an chance of derailment of rides or lightnings trike
I'm sure someone has probably shared a story involving Disney World trips and bad weather, but I'm reminded of a family trip where the weather went from sunny to wet and rainy. We were at either Magic Kingdom or EPCOT (not sure which) but I remember it started pouring. After stepping inside one of the shops, my mother decided to buy a poncho for each of us to keep dry. There are photos of us wearing the yellow ponchos with the Mickey Mouse logo, which I call the "Wet Ducklings" photos.
I find that Uniqlo a lot of SPF clothing for adults, they kind of obsessed with that kinda stuff, also if you have an opaque umbrella you can use it as a parasol.
My weather story is a winter story. My husband, my not quite 2 year old son and I were at WDW for my 40th birthday in mid-December. For our last night, we had arranged for an in-room sitter for my son, and a Candlelight Processional dinner package for myself and my husband at Rose and Crown, timed to be able to view Illuminations during dinner. I had gone to Epcot early to get in line for Candlelight, while my husband waited at the hotel for the babysitter, who ultimately never showed. My husband raced to the park and made it just in time for (most of) the performance, with our 2 year old with him. Unfortunately, a cold front had also come through and the temperature kept dropping during the performance. We had nothing to keep our son warm, and we couldn't find a sweatshirt or a blanket anywhere, well, until I found a $200 blanket in England. That seemed excessive, but then we went around the corner to the little gift shop near the back entrance to World Showcase. They had this odd red glitter Mickey coat in my size, thought it was over $70, or a pink sweatshirt 4 sizes too big for the 2 year old.We bought the coat and used it as a blanket. The staff at Rose and Crown were so nice about adding the unexpected 2-year-old to our reservation, though we still had to wait. We were nervous about how he would tolerate the late hour and the fireworks, but he adored them! It ended up being one of our best memories on that trip.14 years later, I still have that glitter Mickey coat, and some great stories.
Samantha Ingersoll not really probably in the 70s because it’s kind of north but still warm (might rain a lot so I recommend a poncho) hope you have a happy birthday! 🎁
AshleyMercedesH my husband lay down and pretended to swim in a puddle!! People were clapping his different strokes!!! Good fun
I like your idea! I just try to remember not to let anything destroy my vacation.
i know Im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot my account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Karsyn Avery Instablaster :)
0cyrhoe we were there for Irma and we are from UK so I can say I have survived a hurricane
That sounds really cute.
Kayla Borg great advice, thank you
As a northerner, it’s interesting to hear you say to wear a winter coat when it’s 50 degrees!
Jesse Orrange More like when it's 75 hehe
To be fair, last year december it dropped around 10 degrees Celsius when I was there. That was around 25 dec+
Ha ha! I'm from Buffalo originally and lived in the northeast for 30 years, so I totally get that! But it can get cccccold in Orlando!
10C is not even cool to me. I'm Canadian though lol.
I'm a desert dweller. 110 degrees has no effect on me but 50 will freeze my ass.
*macaron
That’s a good idea, Chelsea. We are going in October and now I’m thinking about souvenirs I might be missing out on. 👍
So surprised you didn’t mention the need for sunblock. Yes getting wet is uncomfortable, but getting sunburnt is my biggest fear because we are so busy in the parks. I try to put on a good layer of sunblock all over in the morning before leaving the room.
Great tip!
Thank you
LydiaGrace how was it going to Disney World in October? I’m thinking of going to Walt Disney for my birthday which is in October.
Fam will be going this October. How were the Temps when you were there? Did it rain/thunderstorm every day? Thnks
I was also there during Irma- they took great care of us all, and we were never worried for our safety
Thank you all for sharing your experiences!
I'm a local and went the day before hurricane Irma forced the parks to close down. That day, I went to all 4 parks and got on every big ride. As a matter of fact, I recommend going to Disney World when a hurricane hits for this reason alone.
Shaun Wintheiser Im curious. What happens if you stay on property during a hurricane? Do you just stay at the hotel
I'm so in love with channel! I'm going to WDW in September for the first time, and this channel has been a LIFESAVER! Thank you so much for making these videos I've learned so much!
I've been to Disney World many times and during several seasons. My favorite time is in the cooler seasons. I enjoyed your comments. Thank you 😊!
MsWDWFAN1 what’s the weather like in late March, early April?
lovmnsn It should be nice. It's been a bit warm lately. I live in North Central Florida and it was 85 today, so it's probably warmer in Orlando. But it could change at any time. We have weird weather here! 🤣 But I think it will be good.
Thank you SO SO much -- we worked really hard on this one. So difficult to describe the hurricane situation since it is rare, but still a factor!
MsWDWFAN1 thank you! We are visiting WDW for the first time in 5 weeks.
lovmnsn Have a safe trip and an awesome time! 🏰
Dairy snacks are not a good idea in the heat. Stay away from ice cream and milkshakes. You do not want an upset tummy.
Now that's a great tip! Thanks!
I practically lived on their ice cream sandwiches. I usually downed them and had water and I made out okay, definitely stay hydrated. That’s a big reason people feel sick.
Disney is so good about taking care of it's guests during these times! Appreciate you guys making this!
Mireya Wilmoth what is it?
The product is called body glide. You can find it anywhere in like the athletic section I believe. It's in a blue tube and it looks like a stick of deodorant. You could even use it on your feet to prevent blisters!
Mireya Wilmoth it’s a Godsend cuz chafing sucks. Great tip!
Its AWESOME
Thank you sooo sooo much. This was my biggest worry, that I can not walk because of the chafing. I will buy it as soon as I arrive.
Hey AJ, we love your channel. Your videos help build up my family’s excitement for our next trip to Disney World. Keep up the good work. Thank you so much.
We were in Disney in 2015 in February the week of Valentine’s Day and the weather was perfect!!
So true! Thanks for sharing your experience!
I have the same experience haha, I’m also just super not used to that extreme humidity!
Be sure to throw in a Powerade here and there. You can still get sick by losing all you’re electrolytes. Water alone won’t prevent that.
Thanks for making this video 💞 I love and appreciate your channel a lot!
Dan Petrovic Glad I booked at the Contemporary for Dorian...
I watched your videos back in 2019 for our December vacation and you helped, now I’m back because we are going in Aug. lol
Also during winter it can get cold that night. Cold in the am, warm up a bit, then cold...
Any person who's been to Disney during a hurricane knows why I'm saying this.
michaelthebishop only thing is that if you can’t get the hell out in time, you’re dead in the water (quite literally)
What are you talking about? Are you from Florida? Have you lived through hurricanes? The only scary part about hurricane Irma was the fact that I was without air conditioning for a week afterwards. Hurricanes are way overhyped in media. It's effectively a nasty storm which Floridians deal with almost every summer day around 5 pm
michaelthebishop I’ve lived in Florida all my life. I live near the beach and every year we have someone that doesn’t have a house anymore.
That background music just never gets old.
I am watching this to get tips befor I go to Disney so this is very helpful
I’m from NW Florida- rains here all the time! I have a collapsible raincoat that I bring to Disney all the time (I’m 8 hours away so I don’t go that often) and it was so funny to see everyone running for cover in plastic poncho while we are just strolling through wearing real raincoats.
One of the highlights of living anywhere in Florida is watching tourists scurry from the rain. :)
I buy ponchos on amazon that are absolutely dirt cheap so you don’t feel bad if you toss them out at the end of the day, I highly recommend it!
Julia F you can get them for $1-2 at Target and Walmart
what an awesome idea!! the idea of having to fold them back up into those pouches sounds like a bad time to me! not to mention, finding somewhere for them to dry out. Thanks for sharing!
I just go to the dollar store lol
Im literally at disney world rn and im from england so its super cold and rainy but here there is warm rain and its actually really nice
Sarah -- That's so great. I heard so many good stories coming from folks riding out the storm at WDW last year.
Thank you A.J., I loooove your intonation and eloquence. Greetings from Seattle! Wonderful way you Speak English even for a native of the U.S.
We were caught in the rain while riding seven dwarves mine train and it was the most amazing time with my kids loved it 😊
Last time I went to Disney it was February, and the interchangeable weather is so true! It was mostly cold when I was there except the last day. At it can get really chilly at night!
Yay! I’m going in April I don’t have to worry about hurricanes! I was worried 😁
Oh and it rained daily every afternoon but were were typically napping.
Really great video, we are going in August and I now know what times to plan our fast passes for, thanks guys xx
Thanks for your comment!
Oct 17-18-19 then the cruise.. perfect time.
Great video and great suggestions. Being prepared for the rain is something we learned on our first trip!
I remember going when I was about 10 years old in December and it was in the 30's the whole week. We came from Indiana to enjoy the Florida sun, we got wind and cold. But the plus was the park was almost empty!! We didn"t have to wait on anything! It was still fun in the cold!!
AJ you are my spirit animal!!! I do EVERYTHING in my Tevas! I even got my boyfriend hooked. Thanks for all the great tips!
this is exactly what i needed!! i’ve visiting in late august and was wondering how to deal with the possibility of hurricanes, thanks so much!
one good tip i found helpful was riding the water rides (splash mountain, kali river rapids) is to pack flip-flops and wear them on those rides, flip-flops are also very light and easy to carry, got to keep my sneakers dry all day
I have done Orlando parks in January (too cold), February (lucked out with weather), March (lucked out with weather), May (it was unseasonably hot and humid), November (excellent), and December (great some days, not others).
I can withstand temperatures as low as -10 but if I wear hat and gloves it's -30.
But 95+ temperatures will Kick my ass lol
Jeans are a wonderful thing :) as a woman with thunder thighs, rash comes really easily with shorts when both wet and dry. Jeans may be a little hotter, but you avoid all the chafing
In October of 2016 our last day at Disney they closed the parks and it was the saddest thing ever! It was cool seeing the hurricane though, since I am from Indiana!
I love wearing white, what's so cool about it is when you're under a black light in an attraction it glows. I noticed this when I was little.
I’m going in January, first ever time as we are from Scotland! Does anyone have any tips?
I’m going next week! I really hope the weather is good 🤞🏻
I’ve been binge watching your vids XD thanks so much for all the great advice!! I’m going last week of October next year, just on the edge of hurricane season so fingers crossed. I’m from the uk so I’m used to the cold and rain 💪🏻 I’ll likely die from the heat
I would wet my hair with cool water before leaving our room-that was helpful.
You should do a video comparing club level stays at the deluxe resorts
And yes, it is very hot in the summer in Florida. And it rains a lot
Worst thing I ever did in the summer is a poncho. I was just as wet but with sweat. Waste of money. Quick dry clothes with those sandals mentioned is my summer wardrobe.
I love the 2018 Mickey t-shirt in this video!!!!!
One year many many many years ago we went the week of Christmas. Actually spent Christmas at the park. And it was sooo cold. We were not expecting that. Luckily we brought layers just in case. But it was crazy and surprising
I booked my trip (with the free dining plan) for end of August early September 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😊😊😊😊
I wouldn't do February again.
my favorite disney shoes are my mickey crocs. work well in the wet and feel comfortable for miles.
awesome video on tips
He lead her by hand to see the others to get autographs.
thunder mountain being closed during thunder storms is very very ironic xD
Fun fact about hurricane season: I live in Brevard County (an hour from Orlando on the Atlantic) and quite a few people evaluate to a Disney resort.
Kelsey -- I noticed that last year! A lot of locals went to Disney to ride out the storm!
We usually go in November and I can't agree more about the layers! Never forget them. ;)
VERY useful information. Thank you so much.
I’m going August 19th! It’s gonna be soooo hot 🙈🙈
Samantha Ingersoll not really probably in the 70s because it’s kind of north but still warm (might rain a lot so I recommend a poncho) hope you have a happy birthday! 🎁
June was worse!
Samantha Ingersoll omg i’m going august 19 too!!!
Kathleen Smith I went it june and it only rained for one day
That's the day I'm going too!
