Well it's a fascinating place, there's not really any other place on earth quite like it (as far as I'm aware). The story behind it is intriguing and Pripyat is fascinating to explore, even if you're only seeing it virtually
There are many now abandoned Soviet secret military ghost towns around the former Soviet Union. They all look like Pripyat, minus the radiation. Same abandoned soviet blocks. No one has ever tried to base a game around Kyshtym disaster and Terch River, the first Soviet Chornobyl many don't know about.
@@theonurminen7064 I was happy also until I found out theyre locking entire fucking missions and campfire stories and music behind a pre-order paywall, was very sad to hear such big parts of stalker be used for money

The author of the Metro books said Roadside Picnic was a big inspiration when he wrote the books. It's also impossible for the ( metro) games to not have the same "vibe" since one is former USSR and the other is Moscow. Fun fact in the first Metro game they name drop Roadside Picnic in the library.
Well it's iconic, has lore, no one lives there so you can inhabit it with anything, it's a spooky no mans land and you can say radiation of you need mutants and radiation leaks can easily create barriers
Not in Pripyat, but in some of the exclusion zone yeah, particularly Belarus. The video I used from Bald and Bankrupt shows him going to visit some of the people who live in the exclusion zone
I always love Chernobyl shows and movies. It's the reason you said the vibe around the way it all happened the governments way of dealing with it and how it's still having effects today.

Yeah, they are! You're the first result on Google when looking up videos of stalker brain scorcher. I have the link to your video in my description, but UA-cam won't let me add annotations to the actual video unfortunately.
STALKER is one of the best FPS games ever made and also the first shooter game which utilizes the open-world formula before it was cool(Far Cry sequels). World building perfection!
When looking at photos of the place it just looks kinda terrifying not even because of the nuclear radiation but it just feels like the day ended everyone left everything
For me chernobyl is so tempting because of the buildings, all the free walls i could paint on. I love to paint in abandoned areas and this place would be something so magical and so free (if the government wouldnt control it of course..).

STALKER series, one level in COD:MF, and Chernobylite. Just these over the course of 15 years. You call that an obsession? Other games you mentioned that were inspired such as Metro don't count.
