- An overnight trip with the Brompton to explore the Sheep's Head Peninsula in West Cork. I started this cycle at Gerahies and cycled to the lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula on the first day (24km with steep hills and passing through Ahakista & Kilcrohane). On the second day I went back in the direction of Ahakista and finished at Durras (27km and a lot easier than the first day). Even while overcast and under heavy fog on Day 2 this was still a really stunning location to visit and the cloud cleared to allow great views of the lighthouse and the form of the peninsula from high in the air with the drone. A big thanks to Stephen and Eoin for the laughs, friendship, great food and transport!

Oh Miriam, when you told your news, and then you played Just Do, omg I just burst into tears, 😭😭😭😭that destroyed me. That wasn't what I meant! when I said a few months ago that I wanted to know how you'd use that song! Arghhhhhh. I'm just crying. You make me think of the boy and the horse, that story, about how just carrying on is brave and magnificent. Awww Susanna 🙁 I certainly never imagined I'd be using 'Just Do' in this way...I was very aware of our conversation about it though when I included it. So lovely to feel your genuine emotion and love. I've had a few friends cry with me about it in the last week or two. I've possibly been hardened/created defences & questions about death along the way which keep me curious and not too freaked out for now. You know whats to come and I'll have a few things to face that I didn't experience the last time so we'll see how I respond. My sisters death and my diagnosis in 2015 brought incredible gifts to my life in terms of the love I received and the overriding sense was a heart opening like no other that I've experienced. With this diagnosis, a similar thing is happening so far and the UA-cam 'reveal' has helped the process by making it all real again while I was in a 'limbo' period. I truly hadn't imagined the lovely support and genuineness that would be reflected back to me ❤️ I work with the health system here in Ireland so I feel extra looked after (despite all the issues with the system too!) I reckon there will be many positives in this whole experience (again I could be talking crap and we'll see if I still have that perspective after a number of months) 😇 How I witnessed your journey and the sense I had of how you were responding to your circumstances has fueled my belief that I've no need to make any drama out of this!! 😉 Thanks for everything so far!! xx

Yeh my experience with NHS this time was slightly hit and miss, but definitely TONS more hit than miss, and I am just so grateful, not only for the medical side of things, but everythings else like how they encouraged me through treatment to keep doing my thing, still being ME! that was just brilliant. Well your message gave me plenty of laughs!! 😂 Hope that mouth and those knees heal quickly for you 🤞 Thanks so much for saying all that you did - you picked up exactly what is is that I'd like to convey of the feeling I get from these solo trips. The music is really my tool to do that so I spend quite a bit of time trying to find music that evokes that sense for me that I can possibly use. I think what I ate on this trip was my own homecooked food that I had dehydrated. Its not as good as though I cooked it fresh but its honestly so much better than something I'd buy from a packet. I'd give it 6.5/10 for normal taste and following a days work out it increases to 8.5/10! 🏆🥇 I'm feeling very supported and lucky by all these virtual friends coming out of the ether! Thanks so much 😍

Welcome back! We missed you. I love that area and visited several times when a friend of the family had a house in Durrus. I was floored when you shared your news and the history but as you said, treatment options have improved so much in recent years. Your mental attitude going into this scrap will stand you well and your channel followers will be cheering you on. Hope you can continue to make these great videos so we can keep up to date with you. I first discovered your videos because I searched for MSR Hubba tents and I then became fascinated by the Brompton! I love your low key style and have enjoyed all your videos. This one was particularly special as my husband proposed to me at the lighthouse on Sheep’s Head - it was thick sea mist then too so we couldn’t even see the sea only hear it 😂
Awww Sian - your message was so lovely to read! What a magical place for you both to become engaged to be married - (as I write that, it seems a weird term to say - engaged!) Did you ever get yourself a Hubba Hubba by the way?? I still love mine - it has its limitations in wind and you can definitely get much lighter tents but its a winner in my book! I won’t ask whether you’re considering buying a Brompton yet 😂 Shame about the mist at your proposal setting but your husband must have ticked many boxes and no doubt still does 😍 Thanks aswell for your good wishes - I’m feeling very good to be honest. I just had my third chemo session today of 12 and the truth is that I haven’t been beaten up too much to date. Some nausea after my second dose and a little diarrhoea but at a minor inconvenience level I’d describe it, let’s hope it stays that way!! Thanks again 🙏

Such a lovely video but it reduced me to tears with the revelation about your health. You, like Susanna, have a very determined nature that somehow pushes the bad stuff to the background. I, like all your subscribers wish you an easy time with the treatment.
I've a friend from my childhood who had breast cancer nearly 40 years ago that returned after 25. She's still going strong at 82.
I hope you find the energy and the will to get out on your travels even if you don't feel like capturing them on camera.

I had bladder cancer was lucky in that had one tumour and it was removed and had not spread. I do have to have a yearly check up. Only just found your channel and love your videos. I am down in Cornwall but Ireland is a place i want to explore more only been to the North for work in the past.@@MiriamKennedy

That threw me completely Miriam. Watching UA-cam on a boring Monday night, I got all ‘smiley’ when I saw a video from you pop into the viewing window. That soft, warm smile and lilting soft accent you have, along with the wit, charm and determination to get out and see (and share) the world you live, ride and walk in, has always made me smile when I’ve watched your videos.
I was even ready to comment about how colour co-ordinated you were: matching helmet, top and buff - so VERY on-trend darling…. But no, you made me cry instead.

We all have to play the cards we are given as you say, but I cannot believe that we cannot shuffle our hand to our advantage as long as we have the inspiration to do so. A person as inspirational as you saves a little in reserve for herself too I hope, especially given the losses already endured. Wishing you every strength along the road. Maybe they might allow a primus in the ward and a dehydrated dinner simmering gently in a pot so that you might hold the warm pot in your hands, blow the rising steam gently into your face and sit high upon an Atlantic shore again on a chilly morning for a moment. If they say no you’ll obviously have to get better instead.
😂😂😇 I had a similar thought yesterday! I ticked the box for salmon for lunch today, I never even take the food on a plane so I doubt I’ll have any interest in whatever they deliver to me - thankfully I have some trusty digestives which will get me through anything!! Cheers Robin ❤️

I sold my drone and bought a new one (DJI Mini 4) which has some more features that my other one didn't have...so its the drone that deserves the credit rather than the pilot! I was flying Sheep’s Head a few years back. Taking off from Seefin on the east side and had a lovely flight. The mountain has many mini plateaus. I was lucky with sunny weather and incredible views of the land and sea around. I always promised myself to return as there was more to fly, perhaps a XC back to Bantry.

Side effects have been very manageable to date and haven’t taken too much out of me, fingers crossed that continues! Still managing to walk and cycle and it’s definitely helping to get fresh air and move when nausea has visited.
