A couple of tips for those trying to do this for the first time. If you have a difficult time connecting to the Raspberry Pi from typing its hostname in, instead use a Scanning Tool to find the IP address of the Pi. I used Advanced Scanner and was able to connect to the Pi by putting in its IP address into Putty. For the Hyperion setup, I used it's IP address:8090.
Question for Below Average Gaming: On my first time setup, I had an EXTREMELY hard time getting the LED's to start working. I followed your tutorial to a tee. Once I rebooted, they worked.
However, today they stopped working. When I came home from work everything 10th LED or so was green/red/green/red. I've connected to the PI, I can see that it's capturing, but not sure how to get the LEDs working again. I rebooted everything, some of them came on, so I don't think it's fried, but not really sure what to do as far as testing the Strip or if there's anything else I should be trying in my settings to get them working again.
    Any tips?
    Thank you!

For getting your ip address you could also just run the pie like normal and type the command "ifconfig" and it should display.
As for your LED issue that has happened to me once also coming home after work. For me, what fixed it was redoing the red and black connections that are connected to the barrel jack. Or replace the usb cable entirely.
You could also try reinstalling the software.
The worst option would be your led strip is fried

@@BelowAverageGaming Thank you for the info. Unfortunately I've had zero luck getting this working. I've gone so far as trying a new LED strip, new Power Supply, and new USB cable. All of the connections have been properly made. I've redone the setup on the pi/hyperion multiple times. I still have just a single LED light up white all of the time on both strips that I've tried. It's just crazy..it was working perfectly for about 2 weeks. No idea what caused it to stop.
Any more pointers? I've gone to forums - I can't find any information on a single led being lit up.

    Is that a android tv?
iirc you can install hyperion on android . But drm contents wont work unless rooted.
Also you can install hyperion on Linux and windows too and can capture screen using software and wont need rpi.
rpi zero 2w should work and that might be cheaper.
Hyperion also supports WLED controller. I think WLED+Hyperion is a cool combo, if you're not gonna use the capture card method.
if you don't want to connect the strip to rpi then you can use an ESP32 flashed WLED in that case ig you don't have to configure rpi GPIO pins.
ESP32+Strip+PSU+Hyperion on the device and soft capture will cost even less ig
    BTW thanks for the guide.

Quick question regarding LED power supply. Half of the tutorials on youtube are saying you need to connect power at least every two meters of strip or at least power it from both ends, especially for 5V strip. But i see you didn't do it. Have you had any brightness problems after some time at the end of the strip?

Very interesting. I used to work with WLED to other purposes. I have 3 questions. You are capturing Chromecast via hdmi. Nowadays smart tvs already have all the main apps and they work fine, how do i could capture the video signal of the apps that already are integrated on tv? and the antena tv channels?
The 2nd question is related about last videogame consoles, like Xbox X or PS5, they can work with 4k 120hz, is there any capturer and splitter that works with 4k 120hz?
the 3rd question is where do you place the splitter, I asume that you put it between devices and rpi, isn't it?
    Thanks in advance.

Hey man! So I got to the part after flashing the SD card with the Raspberry Pi Imager, then installing it into the Pi and booting up. When I get to the screen after boot that says "Hyperbian" in large text, there is no IP address of the Pi; instead it just says "to configure Hyperion browse to :8090 from another device...". Any tips? Running a Raspberry Pi Zero W.

    • @BelowAverageGaming
      @BelowAverageGaming  Рік тому +1

So you have to connect the pi to the internet to get the ip
To do that open up the terminal and type in sudo raspi-config
The go into system options and set your wifi info
Then go into localization options and set the wireless lan country
      That "should" fix your issue
To check, open up the terminal again and type in "ifconfig" or "sudo ifconfig" (not sure which one lol)
And it should tell you your ip.
Additionally if none of that works then delete everything in the SD and try again. Make sure you set the wifi options within the imager
