    Very cool. So how much comes out of the bottom of the tank when you drain that?

      Not much at all actually. The upstream filter just after the heat exchanger pulls out the majority of the moisture.

    Hello Rich, thanks for both of the videos on air compressor improvement. I just completed the post compressor drier installation and coupled with the three stage filtering and drying previously installed I'm ready to do more plasma cutting with better results. Now I'm working on quieting the compressor intake.

      Heck yeah! Glad that the videos were helpful and good luck on your plasma cutting!

    Good test. Important in painting applications. I'm hoping for some videos on the square-body Duramax build soon. How is it going?

      I’ve been sanding on that cab for nearly 10 hours, you guys don’t want to see all that!! That thing must have had like four paint jobs! The next video will be bondo, primer and blocking it out.. maybe the bed too. So much bodywork to do!

    Love it! Getting ready to do same just upgraded to 80 gallon two stage! Can you list all the fittings you used to run your lines? I’m gonna have to step down from 3/4 for cooler.

    Hate to be the one that puts the wrench into the gearbox but you didn't drain the tank. Looks like the setup you have the tank is the lowest part and water will collect there.

      No worries Kevin! I actually do have a solenoid operated tank drain valve I just forgot to mention it in the video! Also I’ve found that the upstream moisture separator catches the majority of water and the tank drain is normally pretty dry. Thanks for watching!

    If you want bone dry air you must run your air tru a A/C dryer (not the silica bottle) Your intercooler Air Cooler inside a A/C BOX

    Cool setup.. im in cen tex also.. want to get the Megaflow when they come back in stock. I was also throwing around ideas of a similar setup for my Quincy.. i guess the 12v fan doesnt draw enough to starve the compressor motor of power? I wonder what humidty levels comes out of the expensive electric dryers they sell?

    • @richphippsgarage
      @richphippsgarage  8 місяців тому +3

      Yeah man the megaflow is awesome, highly recommended. As long as your wiring from your breaker box is sufficiently sized for your compressor you’ll be fine. I’ll measure the amps the fan is drawing and let you know!

    Where are you located? I am in northeast NC and the temps have been 30-50F with low humidity (winter time). I've run my compressor just a bit and haven't gotten a lick of water out of the tank drain. Come July though, there will be buckets of water coming out. I would like to see this test done again in July or August, assuming you are in a humid area like the south east.
    Rats are worse. I have black widows in the crawl space and get bit damn near every time I go down there. Just causes a swollen spot that pusses up for a few days. Rats chew everything and poop on what they don't chew on.

      I’m actually in central Texas and we are coming up on the rainy season so I will have a great opportunity to test in higher humidity levels!
