    Awesome walkthrough again Chris! And really loved that you put in a demo to hear it all together!

    Will thank you Chris for the past two walkthroughs. As usual, very helpful and in detail. Awesome library, you can feel the players doing their thing with a personality, a player with a personal style, this will allow way better multis than going into detuning or humanizing some of them to avoid "synthyness". A cool thing in this walkthrough is while you play their UI allows you to see what articulation you're playing.
    Thanks again and congrats to Straightahead Samples, At last at last, One Ring to Rule them All!
    (those falls... and several ones... much wow)

    I would love a comparison between this and AcousticSamples horns+saxes

    Only the SWAM solo sample libraries & maybe a few other that focus on one sax sound, have come close to the realism of Saxes IMO, & with SWAM that's if you use a Midi Wind Controller knowing how to actually play a wind instrument. These still have a bit of a kazoo-ish sound that gives them away, & that includes the Straight Ahead overview demo, & they're probably the best at this lately; so here's hoping they keep plugging away to breakthrough with something that will really raise the bar!

    Sounds good! I love the quality and all the articulation choices. I do wonder when and who will make a big band library that can handle ballads as well as it does big, bombastic pieces.
    There's no other orchestra quite like a big band. It may not be as popular as a symphony orchestra, but big bands are every bit as versatile. Isn't it odd? I mean the big band sax section somewhat plays the role of the orchestral string section, but saxophones have never found a permanent home in the classical orchestra. They're only sometimes visitors for the weekend.
    Anyway, thanks for the preview!

    When you played the Live performance with vocalist, which was fabulous, it’s kind of difficult to listen to the atomic big band without any bass and rhythm giving you a full circle picture of what this library is capable of doing - just a suggestion Christopher and congratulations on a beautiful arrangement

    Great walkthrough! I find that the trumpets and trombones are great in a jazz ensemble context, as you've pointed out, but the legato on the saxophones sounds a little tacky. For lead lines, I think I still prefer SWAM's modelling for the sheer amount of agility it gives you.

      I agree, trumpets and trombones sound awesome, but the saxophones sound weak in comparison (I own all the solo instruments and they are fantastic).

    Excuse me, could you tell me if it's possible to make solos with this library or only is for ensembles?

    • @ChristopherSiu
      @ChristopherSiu  Рік тому +1

      Definitely possible! The standalone libraries are more intended for solos, but these can work great too.

    How do you think this library compares to OT Glory Days?

    • @ChristopherSiu
      @ChristopherSiu  Рік тому +1

      Glory Days has a few more specialized patches and is recorded in Teldex, a large scoring stage. This library is great for a tighter sound, and of course it has Smart Delay. :)

    The altsax sounds horrible...almost made me cry.

  • @PepperWilliamsMusicBlend

    I'm 70 years old and no one has come close to emulating big band sounds with libraries. And with this library, the story continues. All the samples are horrible. An arranger has to become a magician to make this sound 'realistic'. Side note: Why do all the examples focus on styles from the 30's?

    •  Рік тому +1

      30s big band is exactly what i want to emulate. It's the most colorful sounding one. And yeah i agree, it's extremely hard and unlikely that someone will ever be able to capture the unique nuances of big band/swing jazz through sampling. If that happens one day, that would be awesome tho
