Would love a video on Swing More. I used Noir on my song Someones (have a listen) amazing instrument. Great video as ever.
Just listened… absolutely incredible work Badbelly…
Everyone should check this out…
@@jefgibbons Thank you 🤜🤛
@badbelly @jeffgibbons Can either of you guys tell me what version of Noir you used based on the current website! Thanks
great tutorial, music and libraries, was looking for something like this for a while now. thank you Jef.
more Big Band Jazz tutorials would be really nice
Thanks Vadim!
I love your videos and your style of explaining things. I’d love to see more jazz composing sample libraries using the tools of your choice. And now straight to the Sanjay C video, one of my favourite musicians here on UA-cam.
Fantastic! I had no idea how to get started recording big band material and this has been really helpful. Thank you. Love the vid and retro vibe too.
Jef, your passion really shows in this video (very few edits) a stream of ideas expertly explained! 😄
Great Job! I always learns so much when I come to your channel! Beats and Chats Theme is Phenomenal! Keep up the Great work! Wife sounds Great!
Simply fantastic 🙏🏻
Always grateful to your videos.
Appreciate you Simón!
This video showed me a ton of great synths I am definitely going to add to my collection! I have always loved your content I have been subscribed for a while now and I just found out you are a fellow Canadian! Thanks for all of the great content!
Thanks Craig!! 🇨🇦
Really nice walkthr, subbed! And your wife sounds great!
Your amazing…you do great work man I’m really impressed with your knowledge.
More BIG BAND JAZZ please!
Absolutely killer!! Well done sir, thank you.
Thanks Dec!
That was dope jeff I'm a big fan of yours.
Thanks Greg, appreciate it!
wow! great video!
I have a gig coming up where I need to create some big band styled stuff…. I think this is a straight up winner. Thank you for this video
that's really excellent! Thanks for sharing! And have a wonderful day!
You too Claudius!
Awesome video man. Best video yet!
Thanks so much!
Amazing content, thanks for posting. 👍🏻
Thanks Carbon!!
This is nice. A Swing More big band template tutorial would be wonderful
I'm new to the channel and you're really great, my man. Thanks for making some really excellent content.
Appreciate it, thanks for the support BB!
Man this channel is such a treat! I would love to see a tutorial on Swing More :)
Thanks Michael! I’ll work up a full tune with it…
@@jefgibbons +1 from me too
Agreedge!!
Another outstanding video dude.. Your style is amazing.. I figure you have a jazz background and man, I wish I knew how to play the keys like you bro.. That song you made with young lady with the jazz neo soul feel.. OH MY GOODNESS..... I want to bump that in the car.. lol.. Great work Jeff.. You really taught me a lot how to work Machine.. Thank you man..
Appreciate the support always JT!
really helpful!
Superb
How fascinating! ✨ Thanks for sharing your process 🙌 Been a Swing! + Swing More! user myself as well; they're incredibly inspiring libraries.
- Eero
Just got done watching some Big Band Theory. Good show.
I loved this video! And the Noir Video, I must have watched about 7 times. I thought you said you were going to revisit Noir. Discovered Project Sam recently but their plugins are a little costly. After I get my M1 laptop then a Project Sam bundle. Thanks for this video.
This is great. I’d love to know the best libraries for recreating the mid-'60s to mid-'70s KPM & De Wolfe library sound from the likes of Keith Mansfield, Syd Dale, Alan Hawksworth etc.
Amazing video Jef! please do more stuff on bigband :) BTW the stylus is audio loops right? so on what instrument channel you played them?
That was great!
Thanks Max!
Nice video. The music was really well done to capture that style. Man these kontakt sound libraries sound so good. But wow the cost. But they will never sound old.
Yeah, it's best to keep track of the stuff out there and then make the purchases when you're ready to make something like this or need it in a project of some sort!
thanks for this Jeff. definitely agree that a vid on chord qualities would be great!
On the list, thanks Jelrick!
Swing More is truly an exceptional instrument that inspires us all to write better music.
YES TUTORIAL PLZ! :DDD
Great video, Jef. I would have never known that was your wife with the vocals lol. She did great too. The whole theme of the tune is put together very well.
Yeah! She doesn't call herself a singer, but she always pulls it off!
Thanks for that. I have swing more but have not used it yet, great to see it in use.
A video on the way you use chord tensions would be educational.
Thanks Andrew! It’s near the top of my list!
This video inspired me to buy the Swing/Swing More bundle. The results I'm getting are far less spectacular than yours. Either you're really good at this, or I royally suck at it. More than likely a combination of both. 🤣
Chord videos would be great. Loved the sounds in these libraries too!
Thanks Hamish!
Fantastic content as always. Would love to see a video on how do you manage your sound/sample libraries. I am sure you have terrabytes of content - how do you organize, and find the sounds that are just right? Same goes for your plugins (Instruments and effects alike) - i am having information overload syndrome...
Thanks D! I end up organizing things by year for sounds... and truth be told I don't have an insane amount to keep track of!
Wonderful video! Is Swing More compatible with Pro Tools?
The Swing More library sounds incredible, Jef! Thanks for the recommendation. It would be interesting to pair it with some sounds from the Bernard Hermann library from Spitfire.
I have that one too! Should dust it off for a video…
@@jefgibbons That would be a fantastic idea.
Would love to see a Swing/Swing More! tutorial video.
Entire review: oh look, I pressed the button - what great sounds! oh, and this button is a super, luxurious sound. I love it. Great. (not cool)
One thing missing from Maschine - custom chord sets. This is great for a guy like me who never had any music education. My knowledge of chords are cowboy guitar shapes.
Would like a midi plug-in that does this - without the band instruments.
I love ProjectSam! Symphobia Pandora is litty!
I would love a swing more tutorial!!
Nice tutorial. I've had Swing! and Swing More! for a while in my library but have not used it yet. Hopefully soon when I have more time. It is a really great library. I would still try to make something fun for example like the song: Doop (Sidney Berlin's Ragtime Band Extended Version).
Nice tune! Just listening right now... fun stuff!
Sonokinetic is Dat 🔥🔥🔥🔥 aswell!! I love sample libraries
Oh yeah dude, it’s such good stuff!
hi Jeff, what size is your monitor display? Also what brand is it?
What do you use for your video monitor(s)? Thanks for great content!
Thanks! Check the video link near the bottom of the description on my tv…
Fun
INSPIRING...
Hi Jeff! This episode with Sanjay C is so amazing. In regards to the interview the sound and picture quality is excellent (just as good as an interview on network television). However, I do realize that both you and Sanjay C do this on what appears to be a professional level. The point I am making is that if everyone had the same (or similar equipment) as you two no one would have to leave their homes for an interview. Technology has made it possible to communicate and collaborate with people all over the world. ONE QUESTION: Did you guys share video from both cameras at each location to get such a beautiful edit? Again, loved your interview. -JRC!
Thanks JRC! Yeah, he sent me his camera angles and I edited them together.
@@jefgibbons Thanks! Amazing production!!! -JRC!
as a Big Band arranger and teacher this stuff depresses me a little. in its genesis, the composers for those kinda movies in the 40-50 where writing out everything in music paper, then orchestrating and then recording it. even Quincy Jones and John Williams would write every note out. wouldn’t be more honest if we would just spend the time learning how to write for big band, exporting the midi file from finale or sibelius to cubase/logic and making it sound properly from there?
What monitor/TV is that? Epically huge…
Please do a deep dive on Spectrasonics Trilian?
What's the soundtrack you made with Swing! More?
There are hardly any UA-cam videos on creating big band and jazz style tracks with sample libraries so I would love one on Swing More (it has been a potential purchase for some time)
Thanks Mark! It was a purchase I was blown away by.
I've wanted to buy the swing and swing more libraries for years, but I'm not a professional media composer, and that makes it very hard to justify the investment. You just nudged me a tad closer though. Btw, I keep thinking you're wearing a safety vest because of those orange stripes, and I think you should run with that for a future episode: put on a helmet and a tool belt and do some music for an imaginary commercial for children's sandbox toys or something 😊
There's a ton more dedicated big band packs out there but nobody knows if they're good or not because they cost more than $2000 and all you have to go off of is a random endorsement by john soundtrack.
Love ProjectSam stuff. I could almost uninstall all my other libraries.
Dude you should talk about your history more!! Great work!
Good idea! Maybe a Beats n Chats with… myself?
@@jefgibbons Your wife could interview you or you could do like a parody weird al style interview !
@@michaelstram now you’re talking!!! That weird Al ozzy interview is forever etched in my memory!!!
What studio desk are you using?
Its just a slab of Acacia wood with legs, but I hate the fact that it is warping over time!
I love swing but for me there isn't enough consistently across the articulations for example in the solo stuff they don't already have the crec option and the legato isn't as nice as you would expect from the real thing. If you haven't got it already check out vhorns check those out.
Yeah it’s not that good
hi Jef,i realy love big band music,i listened to a lot of them,Glenn Miller,Gene Krupa, Benny Goodman, etc,i'm 59,so i heard a lot of music of the past,to be honnest,i like it more then the music of today,EDM, RAP, etc does nothing for me,i also find it more like noise than music
my music collection spans over the 40s-50s-60s-70s -80S,and a little bit of the 90s,after these years music took a fall, and it all sounds alike, selena gomez, taylor swift and ariana grande, they all sound the same, sad, thats why i turn to the past for music,or movie scores
I’ve got a huge collection of vintage vinyl, I spend most of my listening time on the classics and then figure out how to bring that stuff into the modern world… such incredible talent back in those days!
@@jefgibbons same here Jef,my collection is huge,i have begun in digitizing my vinyls,as they tak up too much space, love your compositions, cheers
Swing more tutorial pls
MOOORE PLZ!!
BeatsSquared and Sanjay C are great! So is Dj Ave!
Yeah! Ave would be fun to have on here!
I watch all the greats, Dj Ave is a fun guy anyone could relate too.
That shirt fucking 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ha! Thanks! Check www.atomretro.com !
*I’ve always said “boots and cats” 🐈, nobody else??
SAM are very unwise for not having this video on their website.
Wonderful video. But that moving camera is so disorientating for me personally. No way I could watch any of your other content, unfortunately.
Does that mean you don’t know how to play the instruments them selves? What a cheat!
