- Today I dive into my weekend at the PowerTrip Festival in Indio California.
My thoughts on Festivals, AC/DC's comeback, Concert complainers and the mighty Metallica.
Hope you have a great week.

The AC/DC Family showed up loud and proud.
Yes we did! Never rocked out harder in my life! As energetic as Green Day were, no other show topped it, until AC/DC at power trip. AC/DC are my favorite band for a reason
AC/DC blew me away. Everything I hoped for and more. I legit felt high after that show.

Thank you for this ❤️❤️❤️ Loved ur opinion
Thanks for watching!
Thanks man, appreciate the recap. Agreed… if DC tours, I’m buying the best experience possible and skipping all other shows.
Never saw Bon, didn’t see Brian early, but my most memorable concert: AC/DC at Roseland in 2003. I had a friend who got us upstairs, overlooking Malcolm- I was literally 15 feet above Mal. I’ll never forget that night!
I woke up at 5AM and managed to get watch some random ladies Facebook stream, the boys sounded amazing, I was blown away by how well Brian did, really optimistic for more shows now.
Personally I would of liked more PWRUP songs, I feel like we’ve waited so bloody long for those songs to be played so was super excited but hopefully they’ll play more when their not playing to a festival crowd. Also can’t wait to see them out of America with proper fans rather than the statue crowds you guys have. 😂
It was my first time seeing AC/DC and it was a life changing experience! Good podcast dean gonna catch you at the Irvine improv show! Also… any chance of getting hetfield on the podcast? Would be an incredible interview.
thanks for tuning in and glad you will be at the Irvine show. Tried getting James on for years no luck so far.
Tool was so fucken bad ass
just incredible
I hear what your saying about Hells Bells. I think that TNT is played to fast by AC/DC.
tempo is everything
I've seen several videos and I feel sorry for Brian (hard to watch him struggle so much) but I think the ACDC repertoire is way too high for a man his age to sing. His style is plain screaming and his singing voice has nothing to do with his speaking voice at all. It must take its toll when you never sing "natural" and it must be a huge effort for a 76 year old man. I think the same happens to Macca when he tries to sing "Helter Skelter" or other high songs of his set nowadays... Jonna's been struggling for years, pulling tricks to avoid the higher notes (as any singer does) but for what I saw in several videos he was suffering too much at the Power Trip Festival. One year ago I saw Iggy (same age as Brian) and I was blown away by the deepnes of his vocals, almost crooning with occasional screams... It was unveliebable and can last many years. Jagger comes to mind also, he's still fine in terms of vocals. But in Brian's case, the whole repertoire is ultra high. Maybe the dryness of the dessert wasn't helping... For what I saw he was OK the first few songs but to sing a two hour set at that level is killer for anyone... Stevie's mistakes on "For those about to rock" were painful too... Angus is a giant!!!
Oh, and another thing I wanted to comment: they play many of the songs half a step down but some of them lose brightness by doing that. I don't specially like "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" or "Dog Eat Dog" live either but they are less demanding than other songs to sing and that maybe gives Brian some air? I don't know, I'm just guessing. I just watched "Givin' the dog a bone" (ua-cam.com/video/QqU5KcxmjX8/v-deo.html) and it was quite good. Cheers Dean! I enjoy your videos!
You have to remember this was Brian’s first gig in 7 years and the first time he performed with the new hearing device (the audio specialist was apparently present and probably had a say in the decisions to play certain songs half a step down). I’ve seen videos of it and he sounded horrible. I heard they had sound issues so that’s probably why combined with the low audio quality of a phone.
