    I wanted to thank you for the tip. Today I picked up my 24’ Street Glide. I had added Stage 2 Faring speakers and Stage 3 Sddlebag speakers, so there was no way I would listen to music on my SENA. I had heard about the Maedhawk on another channel, it I learned about the BClink on your post. I also began watching your posts, because you have some topics near and dear to me, like the OS upgrade.
    Thank you for your through posts, they are great and appreciated.

      @@ITFZone as I posted on your “Winter” video, I did run into a problem, these 24’s are sooo touchy. I detached the Maedhawk temporarily to see if it caused my issue with no sound after a couple hours of working perfectly or it’s something else. I’ll keep you posted.

      For CarPlay as long as a headset is connected it should stay working. So you might keep you device manager screen open and see if the headset is dropping out or the headset icon is going dim. I have noticed with the bike connected to my personal hotspot my music was clipping and then would work for awhile to clip again. To me a map update may have been downloading or just the WIFI connection is in the way.

      @@ITFZone I will keep an eye on that ITFZ and let you know. Thanks again. I did see the headphone icon at all times, but I didn’t have the Device Manager open at all times. Once I had no sound, I tried unsuccessfully while I was riding to get anything Audio working, but there was no sound coming from FM either, so I assumed the fuse was blown. It wasn’t blown per se, but it did have to be reset.

    Thanks to you (and this and all your excellent videos), I just started using CarPlay; and somehow, it works perfectly for me now. As noted, the SENA headset and the iPhone must be bluetooth paired to the bike (but NOT to each other!!). With the motorcycle off, I plug my iPhone into the USB in the glovebox, and tuck it in (I'm using my old 11Pro as an iPod, no longer an active phone line; and I turn bluetooth off on my new iPhone). Still with the bike off, I turn on the headset. Then I switch the ignition to the on position, and I watch the boot-up sequence... I wait until the system recognizes the phone connection with a message, and then the SENA 50S with a message; and then CarPlay (magically) starts by itself. And then, after all that, I hit the start button. And it's working!!

    About the wireless CarPlay, I had a similar issue with a wireless dongle and the solution turned out to be setting the dongle software with a 10 second delay before it actually boots up. The issue is the HD BoomGTS isn’t all booted up before the wifi connection would start. Not sure if you can adjust CarPlay delay start on the 2023 CVO but this may place you on a road to resolving the inconsistent startup issue.

    • @ITFZone
      @ITFZone  6 місяців тому

      Yes its a combo of headset first, bluetooth and then WIFI. My hope is that the device manager can be changed to look for devices in this order. Supposedly there are some fixes in the '24 version of the software but not seen any confirmation if these fixes work or not.

    I will not buy a CVO if it will not connect to my android phone . I am planning on buying a new 24 Street Glide Special if it comes with the new large dash . However , if I can not use Android Auto , no way am I going to spend that much money for a brand new 24 Harley if I can not use Android Auto to ride across the country using GPS ETC . I currently connect my android phone from inside my saddlebag using a wireless dongle . Works perfect . My current bike is a 21 Street Glide Special .

      It does appear that Google is not supporting motorcycles going forward, none of the new bikes have it like Honda, BMW or Indian. However I don't think an official Google announcement has ever been found so really not sure what the issue is. The good thing is that it would be software so I would bet if it does become possible we will see it appear on these new bikes. I do think the built in system works well for navigation and it fills the most the screen vs just being in a square box. But I agree with you its all frustrating!

      Don't hold your breath for the new screen and Android Auto compatibility. It's not going to come that way from the factory. The only possible solution for Android users wanting to use Android Auto is going to be the aftermarket.

      Not a big CarPlay fan. Wanted a 2D view of the map not 3D. CarPlay does that. Then I found, if you zoom out using your two little fingers it will go 2D on the CVO Nav, but you're out so far you can't distinguish street names, etc. So CarPlay it is. I have never lost connection. The map or music stays there until I turn it off. @@ITFZone

    Interesting. I haven't tried, but heard you can use car play wireless if you have HD WHIM set up with no issues. IMO Harley rushed this new CVO before all the kinks worked out. Luke from Fueling has a video where his 23 CVO was leaking oil around the VVT cover on his trip to Sturgis.
    I guess time will tell. Still a very sweet bike, hopefully will have fixes soon. Thanks for your content!

      I am not aware of the WHIM supporting wireless CarPlay, it only supports a wireless headset. You can purchase the CarPlay hack on Amazon that provides the WIFI network capabilities to the Boom systems. John on his Cycle Fanatix channel has information about it. www.youtube.com/@CYCLEFANATIX

    Tom - Really appreciate your videos! I just picked up my 23 CVO SG and am trying to figure everything out. It appears I've paired my iphone to the bike. It also appears that i've paired the Sens 50S headset as well. My question is: can i charge both my SENA and my Iphone at the same time? DO you have a recommendation on how to split the USB C on the bike into 2 with an adapter? Thanks!

      Yes! See this video: ua-cam.com/video/hBWlt_4YN6I/v-deo.html I have confirmed the USB C port on the adapter will charge your Sena and the USB A will charge your phone. However I would recommend considering a USB headset adapter noted in this video: ua-cam.com/video/XVWmEA81fo0/v-deo.html Will require a lot less storage space.

    what a bummer. I have a '21 Touring bike, a Cardo headset, and an Android phone and it has always worked great. This past year I even added into the mix a wireless adapter so that it all connects automatically. It works great with Android Auto. I know on the new CVO Harley says that Android is not supported, but it's ironic how many videos I see with people trying to do hacks and jumpers to get Carplay to work. How frustrating that the new state of the art CVO head unit is dysfunctional with this. Maybe Apple is the problem, who knows, good luck with this.

    • @ITFZone
      @ITFZone  9 місяців тому

      I think much of the issue with all automobile and now motorcycle companies is that none of them are software companies. They are teaming up with vendors that are in between Apple and Google. I also think for whatever reason Harley released the CVO's early. The Boom sure caused frustration and later became known as mostly reliable so hopefully will see some updates and improvements. For all vehicle manufactures I think we need a true software company to create a common operating system. But currently its the wild west as each tries to get the bigger better screen with their logo embedded into the experience. Appreciate your comment!

    When do you think if you could guess when they will come out with the patch to remove the bike to look for a headset and just allow CarPlay to boot? Hoping Harley can come out with a patch for it so we don’t need to keep using the headset

      Ah great call out! I am using CarPlay wirelessly and leaving the headset on the USB connection. Works great as long as I don't have Bluetooth turned on. I suspect a USB splitter that support charging would work but it may not allow the CarPlay data to pass through. On my list to test!

      If the bike is changing the routing to speakers or the MaedHawk is losing power would be my initial thought. Do you see the headset icon on the screen go dim? I have not had this issue thus far. If it works directly to the bike I would verify it works out of the USB A port on the BCLink. Process of elimination here.
