- Kmart Closing In North Canton, OH. Join Kayla and I as we do a walking tour of the closing Kmart here. Dont mind us talking to each other being silly. This is us on the norm. LOL! Anyway, this store closes in February 2020, so here is a look at it before it empties completely out.

I saw most of these 2 years ago yet now I rewatch the ones that I saw 2 years ago and find many more I haven’t seen

I loved Kmart ! Ours in Steger Illinois closed last year. I hate Walmart.
I work at the mcdonald’s right there next to that Kmart. I have a lot of memories there as a kid and it’s sad to see it go.
Lol first I've seen a Kmart sign that small. I remember when the "K" rotated about "mart" which was a cool sign.

Hi Wallie, Great video! The notch in the back of the store with the covered garage door is where series 3-2 and 7's sold lumber in the early 80's. This used to be a separate area blocked off with a large open entry way to the sales floor and no dropped ceiling. When the early 90's remodels/expansions occurred, the block wall was removed, a drop ceiling added, and it was converted into normal selling space. Jay

Our K-Mart in Bismarck, ND is closing soon... the employees there will get jobs at the new Cosco...

The many windows on the front of this store make it more inviting to shop at than the bricked over stores.

Our last Connecticut K-Mart is now Closed. Sears soon.
I remember in the early 80s going to kmart in liberty Ohio (before they tore it down)- had windows all along the front. Womens clothes were displayed there so you literally could go window shopping. I knew when Boardman Ohio closed it was only a matter of time.....they couldn't compete with Walmart prices.
Probably have a sign ordinance that the sign can only be so big and high.

This is so sad to review. My dad worked here from the late 90s to mid 2000s as a manager/associate. And he cried when we went in during the liquidation.
I worked here for 2 years in the 2000's. I'm sure I knew your Dad. I trained as a special projects manager and prob worked with him that way.

I love the Kmart metal band and their first album should be blue light special. Lol
This one looks well maintained compared to others. I follow their page on Facebook and their employees really cared about keeping the store going. I really didn't expect them to close it so soon. I really have no idea what the company is thinking at this point. Why not make any sense until the very end?

Compare awnings, you can see how it has the curve, and at one time the "BIG" part like this has. That one has also had its doors moved- all that was under Antonini in the early-90's when he tried to "update" Kmart (badly, he also changed the red/turquoise sign into that block K and script "mart").
No more Kmart's in VA our last two just closed and is this the last time in Ohio too

I drove by the Kmart in Clio, MI over the weekend, but it was already closed.
I last went to that one in September right after they announced they were closing.

The Kmart I live near is scheduled to close around the same time as this store. I however think that it's going to close ahead of schedule so WinCo Foods can move in

syxepop Part of the reason why some of them stay abandoned for awhile is because Kmart’s lease is still active. Then after the lease is up the building gets redeveloped. Of course, that is not the case with all locations. Some are just in locations that are either not desirable or too close to other locations of businesses that could afford the property.
This Kmart looks very familiar, oh wait it is up the road from me. I hope you and Kayla make it back here soon. Thanks for putting your spin on this Big K.

My local sears is closing and it’s the last one in central Virginia funny enough it’s the most busy it has ever been as nobody would walk past the at home store but now from the at home to the sears it’s always busy.

The problem for day one with Lambert was he was playing it from both sides. He had money invested in the success of the company and was also betting against it at the same time, and taking every asset he could get for himself.
If he had invested solely in the success of the company and actually listened to executives with retail experience K-mart and Sears would be growing today instead of the opposite.
