@@ResolveReviews it's a 2018 bamboo model with genuine leather - same unit Max reviewed way back when. I bought it off of him after that review, then upgraded it to the carbon headband. It weighed 600g, now 580g. Measures very similarly to yours.
It has detail and some sort of superior separation abilities compared to the HD800 (if you take the subjectivist pill and conclude that detail is more than FR) but the treble clarity is awful. They sound like closed backs because of the tuning.
i just purchased the LCD-X and was disappointed until i eq'd them. now they shine. andrew's video on eq'ing the X's is spot on. andrew, much thanks and respect. i've watched EVERYONES take on headphones and you are the best. also, i bought the FIIO Q5s Portable 5.0 Bluetooth DAC/Amp for $299. it is amazing. it plays any HD music format you can throw at it, has every conceivable input, balanced 2.5mm and 4.4mm output jacks and an unbalanced 3.5mm SE out. i can now listen thru my HP's anything BT. you can also connect to PC USB port for it's DAC capabilities for gaming, etc. I downloaded Fiio Control app to my android phone which has the 10-band EQ feature. indispensable.
Man I’ve had my lcd2 note for around 3 weeks and my god are they good very good they are smooth warm and precise and are currently my end game and with EQ they are nothing short of magical best headphones I’ve heard yet
The midrange issue can easily be rectified with out resorting to EQ. Its shocking how much of a difference to the midrange the pads make, its the clamp that’s causing a lot of the energy in the treble. by loosening the single scroos that hold the cup to the band at the top, there set in notches, it has a large effect on the tonality. That is how i balanced out the lcdx, happy experimenting
I bent backwards the headband on my GX to have a similar effect in the highs. It seems the pleather version of their pads can be deformed a lot if the headband clamp is too tight for your head
@@metal571 I have been experimenting with the LCDX and the clamping all week I finally have it down to perfection now LOL, and it sounds sublime But it took some doing, and some experimenting to get the exact correct fit and the correct clamp force to get the most balanced sound
Still a wonderful headphone, when looking at the complete package. I sold my old LCD2 (early rev2) and my HD800 when I got a Utopia as I felt it pretty much captured everything I needed - no point in having two other open backs. However, I will say if you get an LCD2 for the right price they are just superb. Just a bit muted on the top end (muted but still with plenty of transient detail). The LCD2 is no slouch. If I had to scale back down it would be a difficult decision between LCD2 2020, HD800, HD800S, HD560S, Hifiman Sundara, Hifiman Ananda. All excellent headphones.
You haven t tried Aria thow..I try to found a mixing mastering headphone without selling my kidneys..i lean towards the new lcd x but a guy said his pair was broken after 3years !the opposite of the durability everyone claims ! Difficult decision the category under 2000 euros..
@@anatol1204 Do you mean Hifiman Arya or moondrop Aria? Pick up an HD600 or HD560S along with a SubPac and you are set. Also use spatial DSP such as Abbey Road Studio to monitor your mixes to simulate proper stereo (speakers in a room environment). I actually scaled my entire listening setup down to just in-ear monitors (Fiio Fh5S, Moondrop Blessing 2 and Moondrop SSR). Couldn;t be happier and put the money into photo gear instead.

@@anatol1204 I would master of speakers. It may be possible to engineer and even master on these IEMs using spatial dsp on the very nd of the chain (don't bounce your final export with it on of course). Combined with visual metering and comparison to reference tracks (also monitored through the same spatial DSP), it may be possible. I would also use a SubPac to montior SubBass frequencies. In some ways, this type of setup IEM + spatal DSP + SubPac has advantages. It is a controlled virtual room space that will sound the same wherever you take your studio. Even with a speaker setup it could be a good reference. Waves Abbey Road will also simulate 3 speaker types. Waves also has an EQ preset for the HD600. I'm not fmailiar with the Beyers, but I imagined EQ'd they would be quite close in sound. Personally, I feel the Moondrop SSR sound the most speaker like, even over the Blessing 2. They are a bargain at their price range. Really comfy as well. The HD600 is among your best bets, but they are a bit pricey. The HD650 is very close providing they have fresh ear pads.

I own exactly six pair of headphones, not so many as the rest of the headphone users. I have had and sold others. The LCD-2 is the most expensive of all of them and also the best. Out of the box they weren't impressive to my own ears but the EQ factor has turned them into my end game headphone. I say that because I can't reasonably believe I will ever be deeper in the wallet than this price point. They are a bit heavy, no doubt. They don't bother me in the least even though I have a nearly broken neck and several damaged discs. EQ them and they are magic to my ears and that's all I care about because how many times are others needing to appreciate MY headphones? I just EQ them by ear to sound terrific to MY ears. It's Shed-You-A wood.
@Tenhys I'm using both a Burson Conductor 3 Performance Amp/DAC/Pre-Amp as a solid state option and then I have a Woo Audio WA6 tube amp connected to an Emotiva XDA-2 Gen 2 DAC. With the tube set-up I have inserted a Schiit Lokius between Amp and DAC and have a little tone control, kind of like seasoning to taste. LOL

@@Tenhys LOL Not to worry. Simply stated, I use both a solid state amplifier AND a tube amp and a little EQ type gizmo. The Burson is the Solid State amp but it also has it's own DAC and Pre-Amp. It's a combo unit. The Woo Audio is powered by tubes, they kind of look like miniature light bulbs. That is my Tube Amp. It does not have a DAC so I use the Emotiva DAC. The Lokius is another little box that has six knobs on it to mess with adjusting different frequencies to your liking. It's sort of an Equalizer. Don't worry about being a newbie, we were all newbies once and truth told there are a ton of people who know far more than I do!
@@Tenhys So are you looking to spend this kind of dough on a pair of headphones? What is your budget? You have a world of options but need to have a budget in mind because this hobby can get way out of control so far as being expensive. And there are a ton of options for less money than just a pair of headphones alone.
Old skool pre-fazor rosewood LCD-2.1 (foam headband and all) here. I have EQ'd them, but not that much. I actually love their more relaxing tonality that compliments my Clear's more "in-your-face" presentation.
I copied your EQ a couple years ago, accidentally touched a knob today and glad I could find this video and the site again lol. Great EQ, only downside is a slightly reduced dynamic range. I turn it off for acoustic music, on for everything else. Insane headphones.
Andrew, do you not feel the seal / ear pressure on the Audeze? I was surprised when I got mine that I can't wear them for more than 5 minutes as it gives me the same feel I get when diving or flying.
I have heard of this because of the sealed front volume design but haven't experienced it firsthand. It's a little stronger on their closed backs for me though. Sorry that it doesn't work well for you
@@metal571 I think planars might not be for me because of that. My Aeon Flow Open had the seal just a tad, which didn't bug me, but the Audeze's has a very high pressure for me. Oh well, shame because I found them incredibly comfortable otherwise and loved the sound! Back to my HD600 and Porta Pros.
@@bitterbuffalo8997 Porta Pro is awesome. That's my daily driver now lol. Hifiman might work a bit better for you - velour in the pads should lessen how strongly they need to seal compared to the leather/pleather Audeze pads
Wait, I have heard reviewers say it’s the same as the Monolith 1570 ? For $600 bucks.and for few hundred more wouldn’t the LCD X make a better choice..
I actually liked the way the AEON 2 Open sounded except for one caveat and that's the massive treble spike at around 8.5k that just hurts on so many tracks. The bass is quite elevated but I didn't find it bothersome especially since I enjoy the nighthawks.
Not against EQing but problem with headphone that requires EQ to sound better is that not everyone use computer as their source. eg Most DAP doesn't have any EQ capability
I own Ananda and the LCD-2 from this review. For me, there is no weight issue but more of clamp issue due to the leather pads. Once you break in the pads, they become comfortable for long sessions.
I don’t eq not because I’m opposed to it but because I’m not familiar enough with frequencies. In other words I guess I don’t really know what I’m hearing. I couldn’t say hey that’s 5k or that’s 8k... I have no idea. I would interested to know how to train yourself to differentiate frequencies like that. Also, is there a reliable measuring rig that’s not too expensive. I would gladly invest a couple hundred bucks to have something that would help me fine tune (or experiment with) my headphones, but I guess if it was inaccurate my eq’ing would be off. That in turn would probably be the way I’d learn to hear the differences ( did I just answer my own question?) 🤨. Anyway, any suggestions?
Yeah there's a new GRAS knockoff that a lot of people are getting. Supposedly it's quite similar to the official one. You may have to look for it on aliexpress or something, I'm not sure. Look for the KB5000 or 711 standard stuff. The MiniDSP EARS is another option that a lot of people have but it is NOT accurate, and is only useful for comparison purposes. With regards to training yourself to get better at EQ, a lot of this is just trial and error, use equalizer APO with Peace UI, and try adjusting the sliders around. See how different frequency ranges sound.
EARS isn't even that good for comparison purposes. Due to its highly inaccurate acoustic impedance, each headphone will measure differently than it would on a GRAS and in different ways, unfortunately. And yes, most humans can't just listen to a headphone and pinpoint a frequency peak by ear. I know I can't give you an exact value by listening, just a guess within in a range of frequencies, and do trial and error from there. And each of our EQ presets won't work for everybody, but you can use them as a starting point
Having expensive headphones only gives more of a reason to EQ, since in my experience EQ responds MUCH better to technically good headphones than it does to poorly performing headphones due to the fact that good headphones have a much higher range of sound.
I am wondering ,with all the options you have with different sources, iems and HPs, how can you fully enjoy music ,meaning not wondering how it sounds on different things and not to dissect different aspects of it. I sure am not enjoying music as before since getting more into this. Anyway great review as always.
Yeah it's a challenge - especially considering all the time that goes into the review process where you are specifically listening for that kind of stuff. I think you have to flip a mental switch a bit to get back into 'music listening mode'. But, sadly I'm not able to do that as much as I'd like - but I'm also the kind of person who would be doing critical analysis on this kind of stuff no matter what haha.
@@metal571 I’ve been sitting here for months trying to convince myself I don’t need a $3000 pair of headphones along with all of the supporting equipment I’d need to get the most out of them. Thank you, as always, for this great review. When it comes to soundstage (holographic sound) and clean bass what is the best headphone under 1k$ in your opinion? I own a 2020 Sundara that I love for it's very clean and surgical sound but I miss the sense of holographic sound that I'm used to love with my hifi speakers. Please forgive my poor english grammar ;)
This would be a good upgrade if you are handy with EQ and can deal with the weight. Resolve can comment more on the Ananda as I haven't heard one at home yet
whatever you get, this cable will significantly enhance the holographic effect. I use it with an LCD-2 with Fazors. LCD-2s are for people that might be sensitive to treble, unless you want to EQ. But this cable will also minimize anything that is harsh or fatiquing by enhancing sound separation. When sounds are not properly separated, they sound all smooshed into a single space, rather than textured 3D objects moving through a 3D space. www.arcticcables.com/magnus
Thank you for the review! I'm thinking about the LCD-2 with the LCD-GX microphone cable as I love listening to music while working, but also want to game, and I want a single pair of headphones. Thoughts?
I'm curious as to what you guys think of the woojer products? I got into the headphone space as I live in an apartment complex and cannot have a loud stereo system. The one issue with headphones is you don't get that feeling in your chest with the bass as you would with a proper subwoofer tower speaker setup. I have the hifiman Arya and I absolutely love it, I just wonder if adding in a woojer strap or vest might add to this already wonderful audio experience
This, or the LCD-X after proper EQ? My understanding is that this would be slightly warmer with better timbre, while the X would have better detail and be more analytical.
I just picked up an lcd-2 headset, brand new, price 1200eu... In the authenticity card I found inside it said they were manufactured in 2016. But the ones you show here are different. Are these (you are showing) the latest version? And, how many models (of lcd-2) since 2016. It's interesting here in Spain hifi stores are still selling the 2016 model. Hmmmm.... I believe mine are fazer. Is the 2020 model fazer too? Do you think there are major differences between the ones I bought (2016) and this later model you showcase here? Thanks a lot and sorry for the question bombardment.
If Audeze would just bump the FR in the upper mids by a few dB, this would be a clear winner across the board under $1000; nothing else would be better IMO. But dat stock tonality bro... With that said, I’m not opposed to EQ at all and use it on all of my headphones; it’s just a shame that those who don’t aren’t getting this headphone’s full potential.
My focal elear headband broke and I'm looking for some new cans. I remember the first time I used an eq (sonarworks reference) on my focals and I was like damn this sounds so much better. Will definitely be picking up a pair of these.
@@YuhNinja no they were out of warranty, was quoted 280 dollars for repair. Just put that money towards the lcd x. Still pissed about that tbh. Is this fazor version then, with little bit different wood finish? How does it compare? Strange lcd2f wasn’t mentioned at all in the video. Also, how does it work with different DACs and amps, what kind of characteristics of electronics are a good match with LCD2?
Perhaps a strange question, but how much better is a can like this one compared to an AKG K-701, which is much cheaper. Is it slightly better, or much better? How is it better? Thanks!
Is there a good system wide EQ app for iOS devices? My current set up is an iPad -> DAC/Amp -> headphone. I used to use equaliser apo on my windows laptop but decided I prefer listening on my bedside table plugged into my iPhone/iPad than on my work desk. With that I lost the ability to EQ.
I put off trying any Audeze, buying most other competitors just because I wasn't convinced they were either reasonably priced or even that good. I personally prefer Planar, and so when I finally picked them up after a string of other Planars I simply stopped looking (and havnet for almost a year). They have this lovely balance of detail, slam and stereo image that isn't found anywhere else in this price range, despite if being quite high. I do think that there really ought to be a cheaper Planar that does what these do, especially since Planar in ears are somehow managing similar specs at almost a 10th of the price. the only budget planar over ears I didn't try were the monoprice variants, but it's rather sad and perhaps a reflection of just how Niche the product is that none have really succeeded yet beside these (albeit not terribly well). The Verums 1 were great and still my pick for a set under $500 but the LCD 2's are still slightly better.
Damn i want this headphone :) Ananda and Elex $300 cheaper which puts them in radar of mid-fi consumers. Big difference tbh. LCD 2, LCD X steps in to flagship territory. I hope they cut $200 from 2, 2C, 2CB and GX. With this pricing LCD X is more tempting. Ananda's tonality is appropriate but it benefits a lot from eq too. 1.5k dip and 3k peak skews the tonality and timbre in my opinion. When you add 2-3db between 1200-2400hz and cut 2-3db between 3000-5000hz tonality drastically improves with my Ananda. Ifi Zen Can xbass feature works sweet as well. LCD 2 and Zen Can would be amazing combo.
I currently own a Focal Elex and the Hifiman Ananda. I would love to add this to my collection. Do you think the LCD 2 will offer a different sound signature for me to add to the collection?
Is this headphone warmer than the HD 650? I'm curious since I like the 650/6XX tunning the best out of all that line and this sounds like a reasonable upgrade in the technical side.
The 650 has boost in 1-5k, while this one is just the opposite. However having angled drivers usually boost 2-6kHz more than measurements indicate, especially in the 4-6k. Most Audeze have the 1-5k dip, very strange HPs.
I see thank you both for your replies! I think I'll like the sound signature for sure, I just dislike bright headphones and was looking for something lush and warm.
Only the upper mids will be much less forward. LCD2 still has some peaks at 6k and around 11k by ear for me. So darker in the sense of electric guitars, not cymbals and high hats
@@metal571 thanks a lot for replying metal, I don't think I'll mind those too much, I'll still use EQ for sure to make sure I get the best sound possible :)
@@MsDaydream I would say they are quite neutral sounding. the lower midrange is a bit strange, but I tried the older variant not the new one with audeze font.
All this talk about these expensive headphones needing eq adjustments. Not just the audeze brand. What software is everybody using to eq all these headphones? We all need to have roon to use reviel app? Or is their other software for eq headphones that is easy to use? Soon as I hear basically all these headphones needing some form of eq just makes me not excited to purchase.
Are you serious? If so, that is a product that is not a product for anyone to buy. It has a sound signature that some may like - emphasized bass at the expense of muffled mids/trebles. Not for me. I prefer cans that sound good to me and may need minor adjustment.
@@garryneil753 so your issue is only the sound signature, not that EQ is required, because if a headphone is made with purpose of using EQ I don't think it would get damaged for that.

What's the kind of sound leakage you get on these. I'm planning on using these in the living room sat next to my girlfriend, will this drive her mad? I'd rather have some open backs, but if the sound leakage is too much I'll have to settle for closed backs
I really can't recommend the Verum headphones at all. Disregarding what people have said about the manufacturer (I'll leave you to look into this), the Sundara is simply better at that price.
Audiophiles cry about the dumbest shit. Eq is perfectly good for anyone wanting to enjoy the music. It's not about fitting into the tiny box idea of a pretentious audiophile. I've struggled to get my lcd-2s to sound clearer with Soundstage, sucks to not get amazing sound but it's close
As a budding audiophile, how the hell do you 'EQ a headphone?' I know what an equalizer is and how to use one, and my own preferences on one as such, but every single app I've tried to use to apply an EQ adds a bunch of signal noise and processing bullshit that sounds awful. (I'm using an iPod hooked up to an external DAC/AMP setup as a sort of DAP half-breed) Am I shit out of luck because I'm using a mobile device and not a computer?
This might be a stupid question > why doesn't Audeze calibrate the headphones with frequency response that would not require equalization? Seems like a wasted opportunity IMO.
Yeah I imagine they do try to get it as good as they can. But the fact is that tuning headphones - especially for repeatability and production - is hard to do. There are a lot of parameters that go into headphone tuning, along with countless tradeoffs that we in the digital media space don't see.
Imagine buying a BMW M3, but you gotta do all the ECU programming and suspension setup yourself. A headphone in that price range that has this weird of a stock tonality is unacceptable imo.

@@TheHEADPHONEShow Thanks, but now i'm even more confused. Sorry, i'm new to this stuff and i want to get it right. So i guess where's number for Q i should use it and where isn't i shouldn't...
You could do that but I just leave it default. I imagine that would adjust the angle of the slope for the shelf. Also LCD2F and 2C are very different, and the 2021 models are all different still because they updated the pads.

Do people like Oratory1990 adjust their eq presets for these updated versions or will i have to use old ones and adjust it on my own? Thanks.
But why should we have to do Audeze’s work for them? If I spend a kilobuck or more on a headphone, is it not the manufacturer’s job to tune them and make them sound good? That’s why I will never buy an Audeze again, unless they get their sh$@ together.
oh yes the good old EQ joke. So I need to drop whatever audiophile DAC I may use, whatever turntable and phono I have, whatever DSD recordings I may have in my library, and get an ADI-2 PRO just so I can FIX the sound that SOUND ENGINEERS designed and tune over many years? Am I the only one who find this to be a joke? And LCD-2 are not the only joke from Audeze, LCD-X has the same story. If I need to tune these, why do I pay you for? Just sell me the parts and I will do the tuning in one way or another. I actually ordered an LCD-X and then cancelled the order when I learned that nobody really knows what LCD-X sounds like before testing it (yes they are that inconsistent) and that Audeze has a graph that I need to follow in order to tune whatever sound my pair has.
@@TheHEADPHONEShow I have just purchased the LCD-2 in rosewood. I am hearing muffled highs and no detail. I am sending them back. I do think they indeed still need EQ.
So, here is the thing. I did the testing on EQ the LCD-2F that I own (bamboo version). Seems about right. When you turn off the EQ it feels like there is some sort of foam in front of your mids. Now this work for foobar just fine but Equalizer APO configurator does nothing. Not sure what I am supposed to do to get it to work :D. (sems like realteck drivers might be problematic with it). NVM. did it in the X-Fi software. Ill come back to you in a few weeks.
What's up about the bad service? I'm thinking to test them locally at Thomann or some other german reseller so I would be grateful for that information.
If you're spending $1000 for a headphone you shouldn't have to EQ them to make them sound good. I have the LCD-2C and I'm not a fan of it, my Sundara is a better headphone at about 1/3 the price. Hifiman does sound right imo and my Sundara, Ananda, and Arya all sound better than the Audeze headphones I've heard.
I generally agree, it would be nice if you don't have to. But the same is true for almost every headphone above $1000 as well. Even headphones that cost $4000... only the Susvara and Utopia are ones that I'd say don't require EQ, and even then they can benefit from it... maybe the D8K Pro as well. But for the most part, the reality with many of these high end headphones is that you're simply missing out if you don't do it.

also, i bought the FIIO Q5s Portable 5.0 Bluetooth DAC/Amp for $299. it is amazing. it plays any HD music format you can throw at it, has every conceivable input, balanced 2.5mm and 4.4mm output jacks and an unbalanced 3.5mm SE out. i can now listen thru my HP's anything BT. you can also connect to PC USB port for it's DAC capabilities for gaming, etc.
Great review, I wish you could make a LCD3 review, 2020 version as well !
Seconded!
@@metal571 I have been experimenting with the LCDX and the clamping all week I finally have it down to perfection now LOL, and it sounds sublime
But it took some doing, and some experimenting to get the exact correct fit and the correct clamp force to get the most balanced sound
Andrew, almost all LCDs have been reviewed/mentioned. What about LCD 3?!

I know it's a year old comment but, since i'm considering purchasing one for myself, i'm just asking : what kind of DAC-AMP do you use with it ?
@Tenhys I'm using both a Burson Conductor 3 Performance Amp/DAC/Pre-Amp as a solid state option and then I have a Woo Audio WA6 tube amp connected to an Emotiva XDA-2 Gen 2 DAC. With the tube set-up I have inserted a Schiit Lokius between Amp and DAC and have a little tone control, kind of like seasoning to taste. LOL

To put things into context, i used to have a G930 from Logitech (for gaming and music.) and it simply broke.

I own Ananda and the LCD-2 from this review. For me, there is no weight issue but more of clamp issue due to the leather pads. Once you break in the pads, they become comfortable for long sessions.
The 2 is more punchy on the bass right?
Soo what do you enjoy prefer more, lcd2f or lcd x ??
In 2022 is this what you would still buy?
I am wondering ,with all the options you have with different sources, iems and HPs, how can you fully enjoy music ,meaning not wondering how it sounds on different things and not to dissect different aspects of it. I sure am not enjoying music as before since getting more into this. Anyway great review as always.
Yeah it's a challenge - especially considering all the time that goes into the review process where you are specifically listening for that kind of stuff. I think you have to flip a mental switch a bit to get back into 'music listening mode'. But, sadly I'm not able to do that as much as I'd like - but I'm also the kind of person who would be doing critical analysis on this kind of stuff no matter what haha.

whatever you get, this cable will significantly enhance the holographic effect. I use it with an LCD-2 with Fazors.
LCD-2s are for people that might be sensitive to treble, unless you want to EQ. But this cable will also minimize
anything that is harsh or fatiquing by enhancing sound separation. When sounds are not properly separated,
they sound all smooshed into a single space, rather than textured 3D objects moving through a 3D space.

This, or the LCD-X after proper EQ? My understanding is that this would be slightly warmer with better timbre, while the X would have better detail and be more analytical.
Yeah I have the same question hope someone answers, but the lcd x surely is not analytical.
I just picked up an lcd-2 headset, brand new, price 1200eu... In the authenticity card I found inside it said they were manufactured in 2016. But the ones you show here are different.
Still not sure why it is the way it is right now. Clearly LCD-2s used to measure better if you take a look at Tyll's graphs of older units.

Is there a good system wide EQ app for iOS devices? My current set up is an iPad -> DAC/Amp -> headphone. I used to use equaliser apo on my windows laptop but decided I prefer listening on my bedside table plugged into my iPhone/iPad than on my work desk. With that I lost the ability to EQ.

hmm interesting that they dont distort with tubes, my planars do that but maybe you have expensive tube amp, dont know
How do you like the EQ profile from the reveal plugin?
That's why I bought my LCD used. The 3 year warranty is transferable
anandas def out performs Audeze LCDs 2, and 2C, LCD X might be just a tad bitter but you have to hit the driver lotto

I currently own a Focal Elex and the Hifiman Ananda. I would love to add this to my collection. Do you think the LCD 2 will offer a different sound signature for me to add to the collection?
Hey, just curious, how would you compare your elex to ananda? And do you use eq? If you do, which one's better? Thanks
Is this headphone warmer than the HD 650? I'm curious since I like the 650/6XX tunning the best out of all that line and this sounds like a reasonable upgrade in the technical side.
Darker ide say to my ears, not warmer.

Was considering this headphone until you said it needs eq in order to sound its best , maybe I’ll go with the lcdx. ,I haven’t heard that needing eq
Just stay away from audeze
That absolutely needs EQ. There are very few headphones that don't benefit from EQ, but in my opinion the LCD-X is one that kind of requires it.
LCD-X needs even more EQ. Stay away if you aren't going to use it
i just purchased the LCD-X and was disappointed until i eq'd them. now they shine. andrew's video on eq'ing the X's is spot on. andrew, much thanks and respect. i've watched EVERYONES take on headphones and you are the best.
@@metal571 Have you heard new 2021 version of LCD-2f with updated pads yet? Do they need as much EQ as cans in this video? Thanks.
Please help, i don't get one thing. In the full written review there are required and optional EQ adjustments, all frequencies also include Q number. Only two are without it:
Low shelf - 100hz, +5dB
+
High shelf - 6000hz, +4dB
So what number should i type into Q section in Apo Equalizer Peace GUI?
Thanks.
That's a shelf filter. There is no Q value for those.
@@TheHEADPHONEShow Thanks, but now i'm even more confused. I looked at Oratory 1990 presets for Audeze LCD-2C (i can't decide between LCD-2C/LCD-2f) and, for example, it says: Band 1, low shelf, 35 Hz, 2,5dB and Q=0.71. So there's a number for Q!
@@TheHEADPHONEShow Thanks for your answer. Sorry, just one more question: i decided to buy LCD-2 fazors, website says it's version 2021 Rosewood but i can't find much about this version on internet yet. Do people like Oratory1990 adjust their eq presets for these updated versions or will i have to use old ones and adjust it on my own? Thanks.
People come out with profiles eventually, but you may not have to with the 2021 version
Please Review lcd-2c.
I can't take this reviewer seriously after he recommended the Ananda. Probably the worst headphones I ever bought.
Hi…:-). Anyone who knows how to eq Audeze lcd-2 classic with a Chord Mojo 2?
Thank you for the review; there is quite a bit to think of here.
Has anyone used the LCD2 with analogue EQ such as the Schiit Loki?
I almost bought one of these but managed to get a mint used rad 0 for about £400 more
No way how????
But why should we have to do Audeze’s work for them? If I spend a kilobuck or more on a headphone, is it not the manufacturer’s job to tune them and make them sound good?
That’s why I will never buy an Audeze again, unless they get their sh$@ together.
That's why I recommend the Ananda or LCD-GX for anyone not comfortable doing EQ.
in other words, i'm too dumb to know how to EQ, so this sucks!! ok, chad
Great video! Are they ps4 compatible??
I think yos
oh yes the good old EQ joke.
I want these headphones. I don't stream, I prefer cd's and lp's. That doesn't make it easy to EQ.
The new ones don't require EQ anymore
@@TheHEADPHONEShow I have just purchased the LCD-2 in rosewood. I am hearing muffled highs and no detail. I am sending them back. I do think they indeed still need EQ.
@@mikele5756 all audeze need EQ
The old headband was so much better
I had the lcd2. I don't think they are worth that money. Comfort is terrible, highs are subdued, and the soundstage isn't that fun.
I know the LCd3 is more expensive than the LcD2(I owned one)... but the difference is way more than the price. Save up ... never look back
I've read the opposite, but cool.
$995 WHATDIDHESAYYY
U can get it for 800 new and maybe 700 B stock
So, here is the thing.
I did the testing on EQ the LCD-2F that I own (bamboo version).
Seems about right. When you turn off the EQ it feels like there is some sort of foam in front of your mids.
Now this work for foobar just fine but Equalizer APO configurator does nothing.
Not sure what I am supposed to do to get it to work :D. (sems like realteck drivers might be problematic with it).
NVM. did it in the X-Fi software.
Ill come back to you in a few weeks.
Good sound but too heavy and a bad service in Germany.
What's up about the bad service? I'm thinking to test them locally at Thomann or some other german reseller so I would be grateful for that information.
I don't know why EQ'uing is so looked down on by audiophiles, given that they [almost] make amps unnecessary.
Just EQ it with Morphit and call it a day...
The pre Fazor LCD2 is the one that is sought after.
Which one, the 2.1 or the 2.2?
@@metal571 early rev 2.2 is the sweet spot.
@@ResolveReviews do you consider the focal clear to be at the same level of the HD800 and Hifiman Arya, lcd-x etc? i saw your review but i was not very clear on what were your toughts of the this focal. i just ordered the pro's and i am really expecting to be at the same level of the other hifi headphones. I mean for the price at least the same level of detail.
I agree
@@rafael6693 Yeah that is same tier headphone. All of them have different flavour. Clear probably has the best tonality, closest to harman. But others have unique tricks as well.
totally disagree..everyone hears different my man...
Has anyone heard the LCD2 with the latest pads? I couldn't find a video about it. Curious to know whether it still requires EQ.
I will be listening to mine with a brand new pair of the new pads by tomorrow. I have the old pads removed and will be attaching the new pads today but I may just leave them alone for the rest of the day so that the adhesive can set up fully. The new pads are certainly lighter in weight! They are FAR less dense.
I can't but be annoyed every time I hear you talk about having to equalize an expensive headphone & it is especially annoying in light of your continuance in lauding Audeze headphones. Correcting flawed headphones is not something I take a positive view on. If a company can't design a product with proper tonality straight out of the box, they're not getting my business. Recommending them is garbage if they're inaccurate even if it's correctable.
