I'm not goina lie, I teared up in the theater when Dewey was killed/died! I was in shock and pissed!
I feel Dewey died for nothing! If he, Gale or Sidney had to die it should be connected to something from Scream 1, 2, or 3 backstory plot!
I feel Dewey died for nothing, yes he thinks he was saving Sam, Tara, and Richie but both killers were there, Richie in the elevator with Sam and Tera, and Amber was there too in the hall! Richie could of killed Sam and Tera on the elevator if he wanted.

Fun fact in the scream series NO ONE knows that Roman is Sidney’s half brother. It’s also why Sid had her lawyers stop them from making movies about her real life.
So in universe they just think Roman is some psycho that made a movie and then tried to make the movie real by starting new Ghostface killings.

@@TheShadowSythei think in the original script of scream 4, jill talks to sidney and mentions about roman saying that she wishes that her brother was here to see what’s happening right now (referring to the events of scream 4) so i think jill would’ve been the only character to know that sidney had a crazy half brother 😭

@@lukareinitz9492nah Jenna left for the same reason as Neve. She had a lot of other things to film such as Beatle juice and Wednesday so in order for her to stay in scream she wanted more money but they weren’t willing to pay so they let her go.
Please start the Final Destination franchise!! They're amazing movies especially the 3rd one. I think you'll enjoy them a lot.

if no one said it already, when we see Billy at the Ghostface shrine, Skeet was there irl for the shoot. and fun fact! if you watch recent interviews, Matthew Lillard *finally* met Melissa after two years. i think he said he always wanted to meet her and he finally got too!!! love the reaction so much oh my god and the movie being one (1) year old, the timing is perfect. ♡
Yeah he’s been there IRL for all of the shoots he was in. There are behind the scene photos of him with everyone from Scream 5 too.

FUN FACT: That track is actually not a Scream original. It's called "Deak's Theme" by Hans Zimmer, for the film Broken Arrow (1996). It was used in Scream 2 as a temp track and Wes Craven liked it so much, he kept it in.
Wes always hinted and heavily implied that Kirby was alive and would be back if he made Scream 5. A lot of fans always believed she lived.
Yeah if they had continued the franchise back then like planned I think she would’ve become the new final girl

I can't even put into words how much I enjoyed Scream 6. It really hit every mark for me.
Having said that, idk yet if I will return for scream 7. What they did to Melissa is outrageous.

I can say for sure that I'm definitely not returning. They already put so much work into establishing Melissa and Jenna as the new gen survivors, and now with all this going on, I have no issues leaving it behind Scream 1-6 is enough for me.
Yeah they did amd hopfully we will get the final sam and tara movie one. But as a massive scream fan since 96, i am sooo excited for scream 7 now that campbell, cox and Williamson are back on board and hopefully will get dempsey and hayden too. Can't bloody wait to see what they do going back to original cast and the killer targeting Sidney and her family. Roll on nxt yr. Imo of course

Fun fact: Dewey's song was originally written by Hans Zimmer for the film "Broken Arrow" starring John Travolta and Christian Slater. It was used a year later as a placeholder for test screenings of Scream 2, but with studio interference and the fact that audiences liked it, it remained as Dewey's Theme.

In Scream 5, when Richie is watching a video on YT about Stab 8, there’s a thumbnail about Kirby telling her story of survival. You may miss it the first time watching Scream 5 because it’s there for a split second, but she’s confirmed alive there

Where scream 5 didn’t wow me in certain moments this movie delivered exactly what I wanted. Great chase/tense sequences, a unique/gory opening, gory kills with 4 standouts, the scariest ghostface in costume, great character development especially for Sam she was amazing in this movie, loved seeing Kirby again, loved that it had 3 ghostface’s, I liked some aspects of the third act, the new setting of New York was great so refreshing, as a huge fan the shrine made me want to loot that whole room I fuckin loved it all those Easter eggs, quinn was the only killer to catch me off guard. I was on the edge of my seat in the theaters especially during Gale’s sequence I really thought they were gonna kill her. I really screamed NOOOO in my theater and some ppl were laughing 💀. My only issues with the movie are some plot holes like how exactly did Gale not know the cop was Richie’s dad, the killers were pretty bad but an improvement over amber & Richie (except Quinn she gave a serious performance), the plot armor was very evident in this movie like Mindy should’ve died to make that train sequence reminiscent to randy dying with both of them dying in public or Chad somehow surviving getting stabbed the most out of every character in the franchise but he is the new Dewey. Other than those things I loved this movie sm more than scream 5 (even tho I still like scream 5). What I loved the most was FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGING THE KILLERS FROM THE SEQUELS cause this franchise would always bring up Billy and Stu but casually ignored the killers from scream 2-4 as if their killing sprees didn’t have higher body counts. I’m so happy you became a big scream fan💙

Scream 5 is super underrated... 3rd favorite Scream movie!
Same thing with Scream VI I'm glad to see them finally get the praise they deserve.
Scream five was Def better then six that fight scene with sidney and gale against amber is so good 6 was kinda lame had nice chase scenes but if you enjoy these movies I recommend becky and wrath of becky they're def good and night of the hunted 😊

seeing caitlin worried about gale being ghostface gave me flashbacks because it's EXACTLY how i felt watching this movie except I WAS SUSPECTING CHAD UNTIL HE GOT STABBED
Kirby still being alive was teased in Scream 5 when Richie is watching the Stab 8 review as there’s a UA-cam video interview with Woodsboro survivor Kirby Reed - fun fact Matthew Lillard voiced the gold faced chainsaw wielding ghostface in Stab 8. I think there was even a “did the real life Stu Macher survive” video in the recommendations list on the right of the screen. Love your reactions by the way! The one good thing about Richie and amber was that we broke the family ghostface link but we’ve gone straight back to it. Fingers crossed for an ingenious motive in 7.
every time i rewatch the franchise this movie stands out as one of the best. it takes all the tropes and twists them in the best way. its top 3 for me.

no spoiler here, but if a detective has a family member involved in an ongoing case they are removed immediately due to conflict of interest. i watch a lot of Law And Order New York.. And yes there is a Scream 7 coming out soon. 8 9 and 10 being the last one..... or i hope it is. i do know they want to keep going as long as there is a story to tell in 3 movie series. so 10 has to be a complete different film.

Honestly I'm surprised Neve is coming back and there are mixed emotions for sure, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited.
Which of the three killers was active and/or committed which murders can be figured out if paying close attention to where they were each time:
Greg Brockner and Jason Carvey's murders - Likely Detective Bailey, as Quinn was at the apartment with a guy and Ethan was at the frat party with Chad. With Jason it's very obviously one killer (Det. Bailey), but as for Greg it's possible all three killers took part because mutilating his corpse and stuffing it into the fridge would be too much work for one person.
Sam & Tara's attack/Bodega murders - Det. Bailey, as both Quinn and Ethan were in the apartment with the rest of the group.
Dr. Stone's murder - Likely Det. Bailey, since that same morning Quinn and Ethan are with everyone else at the park.
Quinn's boyfriend and Anika's murder (along with Quinn's fakeout) - Det. Bailey and possibly Ethan at the same time as he could have snuck out of class.
Sam's second phone call - Quinn, who was hiding in Gale's penthouse to lure them there, as Bailey was in the park with Sam and Tara, and Ethan was in the police van with Kirby, Chad and Mindy.
Gale's phone call, Brooks' murder and Gale's attack - Quinn, as she both admitted to being responsible and was already in the apartment making the call to lure them in. Det. Bailey and Ethan were also both at the park with Sam, Tara and Kirby.
Mindy's attack - Quinn, as she admitted to attacking Mindy. Ethan was also on the subway and Det. Bailey was at the police station.
Kirby's attack - Quinn and Ethan, as Kirby confirmed that "they" attacked her and they were the two masked in the theatre.
Chad's attack - Quinn and Ethan because they were wearing masks.
In the previous movie when Richie is watching a video about Stab 8 the top recommended video is "Interview with Woodsboro survivor Kirby Reed", confirming that Kirby did indeed survive. She IS played by the same actress, Hayden Panettiere. Kevin Williamson revealed Kirby would have been back sooner but the production team just couldn't seem to locate the actress since she wasn't acting anymore after finishing the series Nashville in 2018 and had sort of "disappeared". Panettiere questioned if she would even be able to act again but, in spite of mostly a new cast, she felt right at home.
As of this movie, Courteney Cox and Roger Jackson (Ghostface voice) are the only actors that are in every movie. Coincidentally this is the first time they talk on the phone.
The biggest giveaway that Det. Bailey is one of the killers is in the police station after the conversation with Kirby when he turns around to look at her and he's framed against the murder wall. He's literally in a line of Ghostfaces.
There was a line in the original script spoken by Det. Bailey, Ethan and Quinn explaining where their mother is; She refused to go along with their plan and they killed her.
It's easy to miss but Quinn's body moves after her supposed death.
Chad was originally stabbed 14 times in the theatre. They digitally removed/edited half of the stabs because people thought it was ridiculous that he survived that.
Jasmin Savoy Brown improvised her "fuck this franchise" line and Jenna Ortega improvised Tara punching Gale.
It was Jenna Ortega who reminded the filmmakers that her character had asthma as it was not mentioned in the original script.
For the projection of a fictional movie made by Richie, some of the footage shown is actually from Jack Quaid's real-life home videos mixed with footage filmed for the movie.
Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett appear for a split second in the subway scene. Bettinelli-Olpin is dressed as Kurt Cobain and Gillett has a fake butcher knife through his head.
Dermot Mulroney who plays Det. Bailey stars in Insidious 3 which you've seen (his character also has a daughter named Quinn) and one of my favourite romantic comedies, My Best Friend's Wedding co-starring Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz.
Liana Liberato who plays Quinn is so convincing in this movie it's insane. A very different movie she stars in that I recommend is Trust (2010) - It's about a 14 year old girl who is SA'd by a man who poses as a teenage boy online. It's really heavy but so good. It also stars Clive Owen, Jason Clarke and Viola Davis and is directed by David Schwimmer (Ross from Friends).
Jack Champion who plays Ethan was cast due to his resemblance to Jack Quaid (Richie in the previous movie). He is also in Avatar: The Way of Water.
Henry Czerny who plays Sam's therapist co-stars with Samara Weaving in Ready or Not.
Some easter eggs/references:
This movie paralells Scream 2 in many ways. The survivors have moved out of Woodsboro to attend college in a big city, the killers are avenging the death of a family member from the previous movie and both finales take place in a theatre. Furthermore, the characters' slow crawl across the ladder and Tara & Sam driving like crazy after stealing Det. Bailey's car are both shot in similar ways to Sidney & Hallie's kidnapping and their crawling over the unconscious GF after he crashes the car. Anika's position when she falls and lands is nearly identical to Cici Cooper's death. The way the GF robes are presented on the theater shrine is a nod to when Sidney is on stage as Helen of Troy and her acting classmates surround her in robes and masks. Tara watching Chad being stabbed and the end reveal of his survival paralells when Gale watches Dewey being stabbed and the end reveal of his survival. Lastly, Kirby being shot in the theatre finale and popping back up for the climactic GF faceoff like Gale was a pure coincidence.
Still Alive by Demi Lovato, the song played in the ending credits, was co-written by Lovato, Laura Veltz and Mike Shinoda, co-founder of Linkin Park (who is also the song's producer). At the end of Scream (2022) when Sam sees Billy's reflection in the window of the police car, the music playing is New Horizons by Brian Tyler, but if you listen carefully you can hear the melody to Still Alive. It is unclear if they sampled it or if the similarities are a mere coincidence.
GF being revealed at the start and then targeted by another another GF is sort of a revival of an idea planned for a Scream 4 sequel that never happened. Originally, Jill (GF from that movie) would have survived and been targeted by another GF.
The idea of more than 2 killers is not new to the franchise. In Scream 2, there were 3 killers in the original script: Derek, Hallie and Nancy Loomis. The infamous script leak forced rewrites to remove Derek and Hallie as killers, leaving only Nancy Loomis, along with Mickey Altieri who was added.
The shot of two GF killers (Ethan and Quinn) standing together in the same frame, a first in the franchise, before attacking Sam and Tara is an homage to the unused ending of Scream 3 where Sidney would fight Roman and Angelina together.
Tara has a scar on the back of her hand from where the knife went through in the opening scene of the previous movie (they made a point of showing the scar at 27 mins).
At 1:04:24 into the movie, when Gale is showing the other characters the movie theatre being used as a GF shrine, it shows GF painted on a wall with the words "What'5 your favorite scary movie?" This is a giveaway that the killer(s) are connected to Scream 5.
The decision to have Quinn be the GF to kill Gale's boyfriend was partly inspired by some of the criticism the filmmakers got for having Amber kill Dewey in the previous movie.
Ethan's line "I always wanted to stick something in you Tara!" is a nod to Stu's line "I always had a thing for ya Sid!" from the original.
This movie was my number one FAVOURITE movie loved it best slasher ever I think

The Scream franchise is the only franchise that I have seen every single film in theaters (I was 15 when the first one came out, and my dad bought me and my friend tickets). They are all iconic in their own way, and I love your love for Gale! There's not any other character in horror like her, so I was also rooting for her to live. Keep these great vids coming!

A couple things… first, since Samara Weaving made an appearance in this movie when they’re at the Halloween party, there’s someone dressed up as her character from ready or not and second I watched someone else react to Scream 6 and they said when Gail tells the girls “tell Sydney that Ghostface didn’t catch me” it’s because she doesn’t want Sydney to come back and be involved again. which makes so much sense but now with them firing Melissa which is so annoying & jenna quitting that just doesn’t make sense to make a seventh movie.

Scream 6 was so good imo, the world building, the character arcs, jump scares, everything was great. It's just so sad how spyglass stained the franchise forever, I really don't think I can support the upcoming movie.

Even though they did Melissa dirty, I’m sure Neve talked to her about the situation.. I’m still excited and watching Scream 7.. I’ve been a fan since 96, I’m always gonna be excited about a Scream movie.. The situation sucks, it does.. but lots of production companies are all problematic, and did the same thing to others, but we cant limit ourselves joy and movies we like.

I'm shocked people couldn't deduce who this killer was. Quinn says "When I lost my brother..." and I knew that was going to be her motive because writers don't say "It's so sad when my brother died..." just as a natural line of dialogue. Then her death scene was played mostly off camera when those scenes are the part that "Scream" uses to enhance the story. The father is played by a movie star and keeps saying things like "Don't mess with my family." I wasn't sure if the brother was Stu or who but I knew it was a past killer. The writers are like fanboys. Online, people have said 1) They should do an opening where the killer is revealed right away but then killed by another killer. 2) They should do one where we see two Ghostfaces stabbing someone at the same time. 3) They should do one where we the killer fakes their death. 4) They should do one where there are three killers at the end. So they just took all these fan ideas and put them into one movie and it is just stupid to me. "Scream" needs the writing of Kevin Williamson. Wes Craven's direction is also pertinent but the screenplays are really the problem with Scream 3, 5, 6.

SO glad you brought up Scream 7 and how it’s basically been ruined because of Spy Glass and all the other producer peeps involved being zionists ugh and Neve being one too was a bit devastating 😭😭😭 like Damn what a tragic way to ruin a franchise! ANYWAY. I was going to suggest Urban Legend (1998) and also Sorority Row (2009) if you want like a college-age whodunit slasher with vibes kinda like Scream/Scream 2. Sorority Row is a remake for The House on Sorority Row (1982), which is Also a good movie along those lines And the killer/motive is not quite the same so watching the remake won’t screw up the experience of the original.

it was so obvious to me that gale would neither die or be the killer in this one because without sidney there, there's no real emotional or dramatic impact felt. these new characters don't have the connection to her, so to do either of those things without sidney there to react to it would have been a huge waste of time
Before what happened with melissa and jenna I was so hyped about the idea that neve could come back as sidney, even if they killed her off you know. But now that we have that it feels like desperate bait, i wish neve didn't accept to come back...
Well everyone else kept on with scream 6 after the producers didn’t want to pay neve her rightful pay so why shouldn’t she accept. The others went along and continued without her and she’s doing the same
@@Lexie955it is not even remotely the same thing 😭 Melissa was fired for speaking up about an ongoing genocide. Neve decided to not come back for not getting paid enough which Melissa publicly showed her support for.

This movie is in my top three from the franchise. I appreciate you inserting a clip, addressing the current situation with a franchise. This is my favorite horror franchise, and I really does suck what spyglass did and is trying to do

Wes Craven always intended for Kirby to survive Scream 4. They either filmed or just wrote a scene of her in the hospital at the end, but decided to cut it just to keep people guessing. Wes was going to make that a new trilogy, but since he didn't, it looked like Kirby died.
This is such a good Scream movie, but I also think it has the weakest killer reveal. Killer reveals being a huge part of this franchise, so it does put this down a few notches for me. That and not killing Chad. I like Chad a lot, and he's kinda the new Dewey in the sense he should be dead every movie but miraculously survives. The lack of actual stakes is the biggest downfall of the series as a whole, even if i love the characters.
The double Ghostface knife swipe is my favorite shot of the entire franchise though. It was so cool!
I'm happy that Neve is returning. I'm upset that we're not gonna find out who Sam and Tara's mother is. Particularly if you think about the plot of Scream 3 and how this reboot trilogy was emulating the original films.

Giving us Kirby back after Dewey leaving was just what we needed. And I'm so glad they didn't kill off Gale, she's an icon. You can't get rid of her. She's just as much the final girl as Sidney is. And now Gale's been in every single movie, so she is THE Final Girl. Loved this one.
