WARNING! The video I'm promoting is ancient! Editing style may not be what you're now used to 😂

CORRECT! It’s why I love persona. Exploring how both our insecurities, which we can either bottle up and hide or find people who help us where we fall short, and our strengths, which we can offer to others who hold an insecurity towards it, make us stronger than we would be on our own. There is strength in numbers because with friends we can succeed where alone we would fall short.

For me, Psychonauts was the first game that delved into the minds.

I think Psychonauts was better at adapting the themes then Persona. And usually when it didn't it was for the sake of silly puns

Id like to add in the fact with persona 4 it shows that the shadow is a necessary part of you by only being able to have a persona by accepting your shadow as part of you

I love that persona explores psychology and shin megami tensei explores philosophy. These games deserve more love.

I should get into SMT since I like Persona so much. Any recommendations?

@@ChampionAnalysis I would recommend smt 5 since it's the most easily accessible. However if you're okay with emulation. I would highly, highly recommend digital devil saga it's mid to beginner friendly and won't kick your teeth in like nocturne and the beginning of 4 and the story is one of the best in the series. I'd also recommend the fan translations of smt 1 for the PS1 and smt 2 for the SNES. Those two were first person dungeon crawlers. So it's a different vibe from the modern press turn system but they hold up incredibly well despite their age. You really can't go wrong with smt they're all good, just be prepared for a jump in difficulty from persona. These do require a bit more strategy.

    I agree!
I recommend trying SMT. Where as Persona is typically introspective, SMT is typically outrospective.

    Persona 6
Protagonist: alright I’ve accepted my true inner self and past how do I get my persona
Animal mascot: oh that’s easy jump of the roof into oncoming traffic
    Protagonist: but I don’t wanna
Animal mascot: I’m not asking twice 🔫😐

This is a really accuarte description about the games and IRL, In games Persona is the Shadow of one self but with the distiction that you can control it, which represents coming to terms about your insecurities or find the strengh to face the challenges in life

I find your perspective analysis on various things very interesting, however in the specific case im gonna go ahead and express one of my own beliefs/perspectives: no matter what anyone in the world says or how many, i will never believe that all people have a good and bad side (normal/shadow or whatever u wanna call it) and furthermore i will never believe that for thos of us who have, we need both. I do not believe in thinhs such as "balance of light and dark" , only in tje one sideness of Light and good. And in a place fully filled with light , which i dont believe is only heaven, theres no "shadow to be cast."

the Jungean aspects of persona are cool for flavor, but in practice a lot of things seem almost intentionally wrong. If one has read Archetypes and the Unconscious and Aion, it's very clear.
Personas are straight up a terrible allegory for Jung's Persona, and most of the tarot archetypes are unrelated/parallel to many of Jung's interpretations of them. Sakaki is one of the bigger examples as to how the games themes are basically avoiding Jungean theory for anything aside from aesthetics.

I think Persona 4 was the closest to applying his theory. But I imagine it would get repetitive to repeat the same premise. That's why although my longer video on the topic was focused on Persona 5, I referred back to Persona 4 for the best examples of the concepts.
